KS2 sats

personally I’d prefer that the school hadn’t made such a big deal of sats but given that they did and induced a level of stress in the kids about exams I felt unnecessary — is it then off to not release the results when they got them? The general results have been in the press, the school had them yday. I would have expected them to come home to parents or at least given a time frame so as to manage expectation.

What’s the normal situation? I was expecting it to be like gsce results in that they were released yday so they would have come home with them.

You will get your child’s SATs results before the end of term.

spanieleyes · 12/07/2023 10:30

We send them out with reports.

PuttingDownRoots · 12/07/2023 10:30

When does the school usually release the end of year reports? That's when we got ours last year.

seathewayahead · 12/07/2023 10:35

Thanks. They are totally random about report timings.

I know we will get them by the end of term I just think all children should get them the same day. Bit much for some to know and others not when they were all in a bit of a tizz about the difficulty of the papers.

They should definitely all get them together. Are you saying they didn't mr?

toomuchlaundry · 12/07/2023 10:42

All the children in the school should get them at the same time, but not all schools will give them out at the same time.

Some schools will be reviewing some to see if they can be reviewed if they are on the cusp and they think there might be a mistake in the marking

arghtriffid · 12/07/2023 10:43

Yes DS's teacher has told some children and not others. When my DS asked the teacher he was too busy to give his results. They should be given out all together.

seathewayahead · 12/07/2023 10:46

I meant all schools should give them out at the same time. They know when they are getting them and can plan accordingly after all they take them at the same time and make a big enough deal of that — but yes all kids at same school should def know at same time, that’s crazy to tell some but not others.

But that also happens with gsce and a levels and they still tell the pupils at the same time. I don’t see the need to withhold tbh. It’s not like they didn’t know the info was coming at 7.30am on the 11th or whatever it was.

We were told yesterday.

toomuchlaundry · 12/07/2023 13:25

@seathewayahead the system crashed I think, so not all schools did get the information at the same time

TeenDivided · 12/07/2023 15:52

I think you are overthinking.
DDs school gave the results in sealed envelopes addressed to parents as they came out of school on the Friday.
That worked well as those that wanted to could stay out of the 'what did you get' conversations and by the Monday it wasn't so current.

CoffeeWithCheese · 12/07/2023 15:58

Not got ours yet - assume since reports come out end of the week we'll get them then. DD1 hasn't been bothered about them in weeks.

Mayhemmumma · 12/07/2023 18:35

I got DDs this evening at parents evening, teacher was bursting to tell us and it clearly meant a lot to her. There's so much pressure on teachers and the kids.

But marking reviews won’t be back until Sept,
so that’s a red herring.

We give ours out the same day.

Strictly1 · 12/07/2023 19:19

The platform kept crashing yesterday. I still need to upload ours ready to be printed to go in reports.

toomuchlaundry · 12/07/2023 19:58

@Feenie maybe teachers might want to tell parents that they might be asking for some papers to be reviewed

Feenie · 12/07/2023 20:00

Shouldn’t imo, could lead to disappointment. Reviews are mean. Much better to have a nice surprise if it’s successful.

HedgesNotFences · 12/07/2023 20:28

It will be fine to wait a few days OP. Don’t make a big deal out of it - it’s best to play it down. Don’t stress.

luter · 12/07/2023 20:37

The results were only released yesterday.
We didn't get them until the afternoon.
We've now got to get them typed up and put into envelopes to give to the children. It will take a couple of days before we get them out to the children.

cansu · 12/07/2023 20:40

You need to chill. I teach year 6 and didn't get them emailed to me until the day after. The SLT look at them on the portal first. Strangely the staff are busy running the school so sorting out sending these out takes a bit of time.

rollerblind · 12/07/2023 20:41

We are checking the marking of some papers which need just one mark to meet the standard - often mistakes are made and the additional mark can be found. Worth waiting for, surely? We are sending ours out on Friday

emmy4 · 12/07/2023 20:45

We received ours yesterday afternoon.

tootiredtospeak · 12/07/2023 20:47

All my sons class got theirs yesterday he never even brought his home binned it. Did well though really well but he couldn't give a flying hoot.

I'd be pretty cross if my child binned their results without even bringing them home...
