KS2 sats

personally I’d prefer that the school hadn’t made such a big deal of sats but given that they did and induced a level of stress in the kids about exams I felt unnecessary — is it then off to not release the results when they got them? The general results have been in the press, the school had them yday. I would have expected them to come home to parents or at least given a time frame so as to manage expectation.

What’s the normal situation? I was expecting it to be like gsce results in that they were released yday so they would have come home with them.

We got ours on Thursday. I liked that our school gave them directly to the parents, rather than pulling each child out of class and telling them their results. We could either collect the envelope from the office or it could be posted.

This meant the whole thing could be completely down played. We could be proud in private but there was no big buzz between the children, comparing results.

I'd be pretty cross if my child binned their results without even bringing them home...

Me too. It’s not addressed to children.

My point was he didnt care so I was glad the pressure piled on them didnt really register. Even though he was probably to 5 percent.

Well it’s now Friday and still not a peep from the school

We are getting ours next week - even though some results given out. DS said the teacher said some scores on border and are being checked.

So just to give an idea... our HT tried accessing them as soon as they were released but the system crashed. They tried repeatedly through most of the morning. Finally accessed just before lunch.

Then over lunch they had to deal with several extreme behaviour events. Then after lunch they had to welcome parents to the Y6 end of year show. Then just as they were about to sit down and start going through results, a huge safeguarding issue occurred and they were tied up for hours.

So a whole day passed without results being sorted. There are some papers that will be rechecked. Our deputy was off sick so there was no one to pick up the slack. All other SLT busy organising transition and end of term events.

Perhaps recognise that these results are not the only important thing happening at this time of year. You will receive them eventually.

Your child's SATs result is just for your information, do it doesn't matter about everyone being told at the same time, unlike e.g. A levels, where university places are dependent on them.

I prepared mine well before so that all I had to type in was the actual result. Took 20 mins and I did it in at lunchtime.
