DD seemed happy with her efforts but said it was harder than the practice papers she had done 😬 Can’t seem to remember much about it except the snack she had! Oh well, not long to wait I suppose. How about yours?

anxiousparent22 · 03/12/2022 11:19

@SparklySparky it was ok. is hard to get much feedback from DS but he said he could not finish the maths.

I don’t think DD did either, and she made some silly mistakes that she wouldn’t have at home 😫 It was her first assessment and she’s at a state school so I don’t think we have much chance tbh.

anxiousparent22 · 03/12/2022 12:23

@SparklySparky oh no never say never! all the best!

We took the test too yesterday. Does anyone know what % would be called back for stage 2? DS found the test ok, maths bit easy but ran out of time for the story. He said they only gave 20 mins?

SQA0714 · 03/12/2022 18:21

My DD said the same, they were given only 20 mins to write story. She wrote 2 pages but was not able to finish the last paragraph. Math is not difficult, except for 1-2 tricky questions.

SparklySparky · 03/12/2022 21:59

Yes DD said she felt pressed for time too. The skiing picture seemed an odd choice to me. She also said there were no times tables which I was surprised by if true!

@user34254356 I don’t know about City but from what I have heard of other schools they tend to invite back two children per available place.

user34254356 · 04/12/2022 21:51

@SQA0714 2 pages is brilliant, mine managed a page only. Not expecting a call back at this rate !

@SparklySparky thanks so maybe about 100 to be called back? I think there were at least 300 applicants?

SparklySparky · 04/12/2022 22:08

@user34254356 I’m sure there’d be 300+ applicants. From what I can glean there seems to be around 4-5 applicants per place, which they probably whittle down to 2-3 per place based on exam performance, interview then offer slightly over the number of places as many kids will be sitting multiple schools. Then there will be a waitlist which I imagine probably has quite a bit of movement as the offers come in and people make their choices.

I know 300-350 applicants sound daunting but many of those will be the same kids applying for several schools and they can only choose one so it’s not as competitive as it might seem! Which others are you going for?

user34254356 · 05/12/2022 08:26

@SparklySparky i hope we all end up with one place but it looks impossible odds!

We did Kings which was a no (not surprised) and Dulwich college. Hoping DC give a call back as Kings was definitely out of reach and City is still a stretch !

user34254356 · 05/12/2022 08:27

Posted too soon, what about you @SparklySparky ? which schools?

bstrong0805 · 05/12/2022 10:06

That ratio sounds about right - I think on our tour they mentioned just over 300 applicants. All the best to all and fingers crossed for Friday.

artfuldodger23 · 05/12/2022 10:49

my DD took it too and said didn't finish maths and story. :-(

SQA0714 · 05/12/2022 11:46

my DD said she didn’t finish the last question in reading. Finished maths but skipped 1 question as it was confusing. Fingers crossed for Friday!

SparklySparky · 05/12/2022 14:46

@user34254356 City, Highgate & Latymer. They’re all a stretch for DD I think but wanted a chance at avoiding the 11+. If all three say no we will stay at our state primary then try our luck again in a few years. Good luck for Friday everyone!

Writeontime · 07/12/2022 05:54

@user34254356 have you heard back from DC yet? How did your DS do?

user34254356 · 07/12/2022 07:50

No news from DC as yet. Have you? Think they said end of term so i'll relax over the weekend. Then start the nail biting @Writeontime

Has anyone received the Email notification today?

SparklySparky · 09/12/2022 08:25

@SQA0714 No but they said by 5pm so am expecting it won’t come until the end of the day. Good luck!

SparklySparky · 09/12/2022 12:23

Just got the email. It’s a no for us! Not unexpected. Hope happier news for everyone else!

artfuldodger23 · 09/12/2022 13:31

No for us too. Back to the state school for us and trying again in a few years...

user34254356 · 09/12/2022 14:04

No here too ! back to state school for us. DS said the paper was so easy but clearly not so !!

AegeanBlue · 09/12/2022 16:13

DC sat this and has been taken to the next round. I’m very pleasantly surprised.

bstrong0805 · 12/12/2022 12:26

Does anyone know when Highgate results are expected ? Heard it might be today ?
