Well we could try and discuss, but no doubt it will be censored by the Governors. Why are they so scared of their record being examined? Maybe they're ashamed of it, if not, they should be. Well the truth will always come out in the end, time is surely running out for them. The only problem is they're dragging the school down in the process, the future does not look great for Vita unfortunately.

Surely the PFA should put forward a vote of “no confidence” in The Governors?

OP posts:
Vitamushroom · 05/10/2018 15:45

You'll only get on the PFA if you're a friend or relative of the governors.

Trustedpeanut · 05/10/2018 21:10

Maybe a parents “no confidence” in both then!

Parents are removing their children from the school at unprecedented levels. I think that’s a good indication of how much confidence they have in the governors.

They won't step down until they know that the friends they appoint in their place won't call them to account. As you say Victor by then it will be too late and they will have caused the school to close. Well done seema, I hope you're happy now.

Very strange....when you visit the Independent Schools Association (ISA) website and type in Vita et Pax in the search box....no results!

This would suggest the ISA are no longer associated with Vita et Pax

Wonder why?

"The school is not academically selective; however pupils mostly enter the school with high levels of attainment and leave in line with national average therefore progress is equally judged to require improvement."

Westminster Diocese inspection 2016

"The following independent school standards, as prescribed in the Schedule to the Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2014, are not being met in relation to the school:
PART 3: Welfare, health and safety of pupils
PART 8: Quality of leadership in and management of schools"

Warning twice from Department for Education 15 February 2018 and 19 September 2018

So with the School's reputation in tatter's and the Governing body still hanging on until they hand pick their replacements. What next?

"I must warn you that the Secretary of State may reject an Action Plan, and in these circumstances the Secretary of State may remove the school from the Register of Independent Schools or may impose a requirement restricting the school’s operations (from a date following the appeal period)."

Department for Education 19 September 2018

The Governing body needs to leave NOW, otherwise the school could face a serious problem. If current rates of pupil numbers keep falling, and the DFE restrict them from taking on more pupils, its not going to be financially viable to keep going.

£1 spent on lawyers is £1 too much as far as most parents are concerned. But why should the governors care? It's not their money is it? Its the parents money, and if they want to spend it on propping up a failing regime they will do. After all, what price can you put on their ego's?

Such a shame as Vita et Pax was one of the best prep schools in North London for awhile. I also know people who have withdrawn children from the school.
I hope it can all be sorted out.

NotaVitaCrony · 15/11/2018 21:25

Its a shame, but the glory days have long since gone. The school has been on a steady decline for a number years due to incompetent governance. High turnover of Headteachers and staff, poor teaching standards, lack of continuity and direction, it's really just the tip of the iceberg. For many parents facing the prospect of third or sometimes fourth choice secondary school, its just not good enough for a fee paying prep school. The Governors kept banging on about bringing back specialist teachers (which they never really had in the first instance), but the truth is when they did have, so called "specialist teachers", the school still was in decline anyway. There are too many failures to list now, you could write a novel on the waste and the incompetents of these Governors. However, while their friends/parents continue to believe their lies and support them, nothing will change as their friends/parents will make sure the Governance stay. Never mind about the poor children inside the school whom are not being properly educated! Wake up all, why do you send your children to school? For the children's education or for socialising...…?

Trustedpeanut · 15/11/2018 21:51

Downward spiral for several years now.An appalling situation, which should have been reigned in a long time ago. They have really let the children down and charged handsomely for failure and incompetence.
