Vests for DD in reception?

I've got a DS who has been in school for a few years but DD starts reception this year and I've realised how much more choice there is for school uniform for girls.

Anyway, what I'm curious about is does your DD wear a vest under her uniform? I've got some for DD but generally she's only worn them in the past when it's winter. Do you think she's likely to want to wear them most of the year? My instinct tells me she will if the other girls in her class do.

My dd never wore one. She's only just finished reception and would be too hot. She had her thick cardigan, a pinafore plus polo shirt which was three layers over her body!

Mine only wore them in the winter

Mine love a vest and only srop wearing them at the height of summer. Depends what she is used to.

Very sadly mine wears a vest on PE days because she doesn't want the other children to see her tummy, after being told she was fat by another child. She's just finished in Year 1. She also needs them in winter as she cycles 2 miles to school.

DD1 always wore a vest, at my insistence through the colder months. DD2 was the same, til I started working in the school and realised how warm it is! Neither have worn a vest since. Invest in a really warm coat for those long lunchtimes instead!

My DD wears the vests from M&S they're pretty thin with thin straps. It's more to stop shirt buttons or her summer dress zips from rubbing.

More dc wear vests than don't wear them, unless they only put them on on PE days! I'm a supply teacher so I go to different schools all the time.

My dd won't wear them, I bought her a pack of the m&s Ones last year and she wouldn't even wear them on cold days. But as pp said she's got enough layers with pinafore, t shirt and cardi

Mine doesn't, it's insanely hot in their school, so they often don't wear jumpers inside either!

Nope , never vests, way too hot in school. Normally she doesn't even wear cardi on top either (even if every other child is) .

My DC wore vests only when it was very cold, whether the rest of their clothing was school uniform or not.

It's just another piece of clothing to take off, put on or lose so I'd avoid it unless your DD gets especially cold.

Assuming it's the same school, wouldn't asking your DS make more sense? Does he wear a vest, does he get cold etc.

DD stays with shorts and polo all year, the jumper isn't worn, let alone any more layers, but I'm sure school buildings heat, and individual preference will differ!

No. very warm in schools. Often they don't even wear their jumpers inside in winter.

Nope, neither DD nor DS ever have worn vests. Both tend to over-heat if anything, and layers on top are easier to take off.

Schools are ridiculously hot.

All of mine love a vest. Especially fluffy lined thermal ones ! Their school doesn't seem to be overheated though. I do try and persuade them not to wear them with summer dress or shorts..

When mine were younger they used to wear them in winter.
