Can someone please recommend me a half decent water bottle have been through so many it's ridiculous. It has to be clear as well must have any naughty squash now Wink

anything with a spout seems to either a) leak or
b) get chewed Hmm

those really thin plastic ones scrunch or bread.

stiff lids can be a bugger to close/push down. many a soggy school book Hmm

and those with I've block things, well eventually the ice part cracks or it falls off the lid and then cracks te plastic where it bashes about inside the empty bottle.

straw type - see above re chewing Hmm

tia

sistema
don't leak, easy to open/close, bpa free
however they have a sports top.
how old is the 'chewer' ?

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 11:40

8 Hmm

Can you get clear sistema?
Agree they are good, but only seen coloured ones?

The free ones from school don't seal. Thats hpw soggy our bags get...

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 12:00

I'll have to look. Dd just seems to somehow destroy every bottle Grin

ihearttc · 23/02/2015 12:44

Sistema definitely.

Ours are coloured but see through if that makes sense...you can definitely see its water in there rather than squash or anything else.

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 12:56

Thanks x is the spout durable? does it survive being pulled out by teeth,

OP posts:
addictedtosugar · 23/02/2015 13:03

It doesn't get pulled with teath - it twists up. Pulling will do nothing.
But ours are surviving two small boys atm.

Disagree with being able to tell its weak squash - especially if you were to put week orange into an orange bottle?! The apple squash we've had recently (Hi Juice) is also pretty pale. Strong blackcurrent would show through.

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 13:05

I'll give them a go then. who knew bags and teeth could be the death of so many

OP posts:
mousmous · 23/02/2015 13:08

you twist the top, so no pulling out by teeth required/possible.

GophersSitOnSofas · 23/02/2015 13:12

What am I doing wrong?! Every Sistema I've used leaks every time. We still use them but make sure we keep them upright and not in a bag with anything else, so a PITA.

LondonRocks · 23/02/2015 13:15

I got one off ocado - can't link but it's pretty good, doesn't leak, screw lid, clear with a design but I can't imagine they'd object? Sorry can't link as on phone.

redskybynight · 23/02/2015 13:21

They don't exist. DD has broken ever bottle known to humankind in under 2 months. (Sistema bottle was one of the worst - only lasted about 3 weeks). I've come to the conclusion it must be her.

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 13:24

Don't say that.....

OP posts:
mousmous · 23/02/2015 13:29

goophers there is a teeny 'bump' when twisting shut. and of course the lid needs srewing on properly.

dementedpixie · 23/02/2015 13:31

We also use the sistema twist and sip sports cups.

UndecidedNow · 23/02/2015 13:38

Sistema for me too.

Or you can buy a pack of small bottles of apple/orange flavoured water, drink the flavour water at home and reuse the bottle. (maybe remove the label too)
Aldi and the like do some packs of 6 that are very cheap and you can use each bottle for a few times at least.

I have a chewer too and have never found a way to stop that. At 11yo, he is still chewing the tops, albeit less than before....

GophersSitOnSofas · 23/02/2015 13:42

Maybe it's not me, maybe it's my child Wink.

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 13:42

Yes I'm starting to think recycling my oasis bottles might be the way to go.....

OP posts:
meglet · 23/02/2015 13:47

so far we're doing ok with sistema. 8yo DS is gnawing the top but I think it will be fine for a while yet.

They destroyed all previous spouts on bottles. my allotment has a huge pile of old bottles for topping bamboo cane.

ArcheryAnnie · 23/02/2015 13:53

I just buy a bottle of Coldpress brand fruit juice, drink the juice, peel the plastic sleeve off, and hey presto, a sturdy clear plastic bottle with a tight-fitting screw lid that is easy to clean, lasts ages, and is cheap to replace when it inevitably gets lost.

Coldpress bottles look like this: andyskitchen.co.uk/blogsmedia/blogs/a/Food/coldpress.jpg?mtime=1355254934

splishsplosh · 23/02/2015 13:59

Dd1 was given this - no leaking so far, and no chewable part - www.johnlewis.com/tinc-big-eye-water-bottle/p1193374?colour=Blue
It's coloured but not opaque.

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 14:03

ooh I quite like that.

OP posts:
nonicknameseemsavailable · 23/02/2015 14:07

I have a chewer too but she is only 5. I am planning to be cruel and I have told her if she chews another bottle she will be made to buy the replacement from her pocket money.

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 14:08

Wine for all the parents of chewers.

She uses her teeth to open bottles too so double whammy.

OP posts:
meglet · 23/02/2015 14:09

yep, ds uses his teeth to separate lego bricks too Angry .
