Can someone please recommend me a half decent water bottle have been through so many it's ridiculous. It has to be clear as well must have any naughty squash now Wink

anything with a spout seems to either a) leak or
b) get chewed Hmm

those really thin plastic ones scrunch or bread.

stiff lids can be a bugger to close/push down. many a soggy school book Hmm

and those with I've block things, well eventually the ice part cracks or it falls off the lid and then cracks te plastic where it bashes about inside the empty bottle.

straw type - see above re chewing Hmm

tia

What about a Bobble bottle? ds1 is a biter as well and manages to destroy every bottle that comes his way, but this is still going strong after a few months which is huge progress for us!

MuddlePuddle · 23/02/2015 14:40

We used to use Sistema but they eventually either get too chewed or the lid no longer tightens properly.

We are currently using a Camelbak 'Eddy' bottle it has a rubbery spout that resists chewing. My son drinks more from it because you suck it like a straw rather than tipping, he prefers that.

They do a small kids version, we just use the standard sized one. It comes apart for cleaning too. www.amazon.co.uk/Camelbak-Eddy-Tritan-Bottle-750ml/dp/B006ZT8NJA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424702279&sr=8-1&keywords=camelbak+eddy, it never leaks either.

The aladdin look very similar to the one we have already got that has cracked on the bottom.

why do they have to hurl their bags around or chew Hmm

Camelbak. Never got on with sistema bottles.

PatriciaHolm · 23/02/2015 17:11

We have Camelbaks too. They don't last forever but they are heads above everything else we have tried. We have the ones where you twist the cap and it doesn't leak -

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 17:23

Right well camel back ordered. They better be good at that price Shock

Smiggle bottles are great. Only ones I've found that don't leak. Plus they seem to be all the rage with the yoof right now so happy kids!

CMOTDibbler · 23/02/2015 18:42

You can buy the Camelbak bottle valves as spares on Amazon which helps to keep them going longer.

Suttonmum1 · 23/02/2015 18:49

I would suggest your problem is your child's bag. If they have a bag where the water bottle goes in a net pouch at the side, then no more soggy books. We use small Buxton sports bottles until they get too crushed or lost and label them. Lighter than most of the expensive water bottles too. I don't have to buy them very often, and if one gets lost it's no big deal.

GravityAlwaysWins · 23/02/2015 19:04

We have never found anything better than Contigo autoseal bottles. Originally we bought a set of four small ones on special offer at Costco - and they lasted us 6 years! With two boys using them constantly, that's pretty impressive.

Now the DSs are bigger we've bought larger sizes for them, which have been declared acceptable even for picky pre-teens. They NEVER leak, and there's nothing to bite.

The downside? Price Hmm

BikeRunSki · 23/02/2015 19:12

Mine's a chewer/basher/dropper/demolisher of bottles. Sistema ones fare best, but he doesn't like them because "they sound bubbly".

sleeplessinderbyshire · 23/02/2015 19:37

Avex auto spout are the only mon leaky ones I've ever found

Gileswithachainsaw · 23/02/2015 19:50

Yes I shall er.... be giving the contigo a miss for now GrinShock . They look good but can't justify the price.

I love the look of the others suggested. shame I'd ordered before the smiggle suggestion. loving those.

Thanks everyone I'm. Hoping this one I've ordered should be ok but will come back to this thread in the future if she chews breaks through another one. Will be using random bottles til it arrives.

Another Bobble bottle lover here. DD has had 1 for ages and no problems at all.. They have even come down in price now (were originally £10) but I've seen them elsewhere for £6.

sneepy · 24/02/2015 08:02

Not sure why anyone would recommend camelback bottles to a chewer? The spout is like a cross between a teething toy and a dummy. My 8 yo chewed it up within a week and it was bloody expensive!!

We use klean kanteen which are indestructible but no use to you as they are stainless steel.

Gileswithachainsaw · 24/02/2015 09:35

a aaah crap. well under pain of death will she chew it. she's pay lying for the next one

OP posts:
pigsinmud · 24/02/2015 10:39

I was going more for the not leaking than the chewing when I recommended it! I have gone through so many different ones. Camelbak were the only ones that didn't leak.

WowOoo · 24/02/2015 10:59

I have one ds who chews and another who remembers his bottle but forgets to twist the top. Both Sistema that I replace when they look horrible.

I put all books, spellings etc in an A4 ziploc type bag with their names on. We've had leaks, but any papers or books have been protected.
Apart from the time before I had my great idea and a homework book was soaked through. Argh!

Hersetta427 · 24/02/2015 11:42

Sistema. We have been using the same ones now for 5 years and no problems. In fact I have thrown away all the other drinks bottles and added a couple more sistema as nothing else worked.

MinimalistMommi · 24/02/2015 12:00

international.kleankanteen.com/unitedkingdom/

These are the best drinks bottles available if you buy the regular Kleen kanteen with the screw top lid. They're stainless steel so aren't leaking nasties in your child's water (even BPA free plastic is meant to be Cancer causing recently) and they NEVER leak. They are quite expensive but my older girl has had hers for six years now, all battered but still 100% serviceable. Even upside down in your child's bag and they won't leak. I wouldn't buy another brand. You need to rely on your child not losing it though!

MinimalistMommi · 24/02/2015 12:05

Wanted to add, the sports lid for the Kleen Kanteens DO leak, I know from experience!
