School admission - reporting parents

Hi
Anyone know how you would go about prompting the council to do an investigation into addresses on admission forms?
Some people say they had to produce evidence because a parent was suspected, the admission lady was very cagey about it as clearly they didn't want the hassle of an investigation.

If they were paying council tax at another address?

if someone reported them as not living at the agree they say they're at?

ok so how would you find that out if all you know is the childs name?

Do you suspect a family of applying for a place they are not entitled to?

But..if all you know is the child's name then what possible reason could you have to prompt an investigation?

Sorry-I mead it as what might prompt the council to investigate. That is why I said about council tax. I know they check this-if you have rented near school but still own another further away so council tax in two places.

Why might a random person report someone??? maliciouness? maybe they have heard local gossip about someone living some where else then pretending to live at a parents house or something near their chosen school?

Do you mean that the admissions team acted on a report an individual had made or because of something their internal procedures flagged up?

all I know is that someone said to me that they had to take evidence to the council office (as did all the parents) because an allegation must have been made - and they were found out so for my case - I know nothing about anyone but presume someone is lying because it's such a sought after school,

That way madness lies. Are you first on the waiting list? Stay there and wait it out, sometimes people who live near good schools go private having applied for state as an insurance policy. If you get in 29 of those will be your child's classmates for years to come, what if it came to light that you had reported them?

Are you first on the waiting list and hope someone who was given a place applied fraudulently? Or are you being investigated and want to know why?

well I had the nod from the school receptionist that people do give grandparents address but they don't do anything about it - they take the forms at face value

You know, as an aside, the most sought after school is not always the best for your child. My DD1 was in the most slaughter after nursery, state catholic kind of school, a feeder school to a great primary then secondary. Well, she hated it. We ended up moving her.

Why do you think there are 30 other children who will get preference? Do they all have siblings/disabilities that would put them ahead of yours?
