Sounds like bad news but I guess the silver lining is that your head is arguing and fighting it rather than accepting and finding others to blame.

We're due soon and I think we're going to drop from good/outstanding to measures. A massive fall from grace over 4 years. All dreading it, I'm just hoping it's on my days off!

Ours was inspected in October, long delay so I emailed ofsted who suggested that delays were usually caused by 'quality control'.
Special measures.

I spoke to 'someone' who informed it had just come out.

Staff will be briefed on Monday. Meeting for parents some time next week.

ConfusedConfused Rough week next week before half term. ConfusedConfused

At least you are getting it out if the way before half term, it would be worse surely coming back still in limbo?

Mrsz, we had that exact same wording last summer when we went from Outstanding to SM! - not enough progress in the 20 mins they observed or the teacher spent too much time teaching.

However, Ofsted have changed their own rules as of 1 Jan and have now said 'Inspectors...should not criticise teacher talk for being overlong....' And also 'It is unrealistic too, for inspectors to necessarily expect all work in all lessons is matched to the specific needs of each individual'.

They have also removed the thing about 3 years of data.

Crazy huh?

I did. It was because we went into SM.

We are still waiting too ( has now been well over 3 months) and not a word from anyone. There have been many changes at Dd's school which gave me the impression that we are a level 4, but changes seem to of had a positive impact on Dd.

I suppose it depends on how far they are prepared to go/spend to fight it sarah.

Sorry to hear that Ruprekt, it can't be good for morale, after waiting so long. Have plans been discussed to help with turning it around?

Our school was inspected very recently and we got the report within 3 weeks. Headteacher was told the result at the end of day 2 as apparently the inspector had to phone for 'permission' to award outstanding. As far as I know , the draft report goes to the headteacher for comment within 10 working days and then the final report a week later, if all OK. I would think a delay of months would mean they are appealing the decision which would be bad news I'm afraid.

Ruprekt - what was the previous inspection result?
The current criteria is so so harsh.

Report
Ruprekt · 10/02/2014 19:44

Previous inspection was Good with Outstanding features.

Ds goes to this school too. Will be interesting to know what is going to be said to parents.

Proper meeting tomorrow.
Parents on Wednesday evening.

What they say to parents will be a measure of their capability to improve.

If they take the line that this report is all wrong and they do not recognise the school in this report etc. Then that would say to me that the school are not prepared to accept that things have gone wrong and need to be sorted out.

If they say disappointing but we will sort it ASAP etc then I would have hope that they will improve the school within a reasonably short period of time.

We have a new HT, who I like tho many don't, and she is looking for big changes.

So far, nothing she has said has been negative and I do think she can raise the bar.

Did the new Head teacher start recently?
Do you/ the school agree with the report?
Were parents allowed to discuss/ ask questions at a meeting?
Nosey me!!
This is a very tough time for a school and hope parents stay loyal and support the school.

Reports are generally turned around very quickly. It's done, then sent to school, who either accept or appeal. If they accept it comes out quickly. If they appeal it usually is bad.
