3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2014

I started the below thread last year and have had so many people find it useful I thought it might be worth doing it again.

I have had a number of messages asking if I have any spaces in my classes. I'm really sorry but I have been at full capacity for some time now.

However, I do appreciate that this is a very stressful time of year for parents who have children sitting these private school assessments in January 2013. So, I'm hoping that by setting up this support group thread I can help by answering some questions you have about these assessments.

Hopefully this thread will also contain some useful insight from the experiences of parents who have already been through the process.

TraceyJudy, u are right, Habs only take 22 at 4+ and take an extra 20 or so at 5+ whereas nlcs and others take 40 at 4+ with no further significant entry till 7+

AmIIndecisive · 22/01/2014 09:40

Just heard on the grapevine that Habs are still calling people for seconds, I know 2 girls who received the calls yesterday!

TracyJudy · 22/01/2014 09:41

Got the letter in the post just now that DD is through to Rd 2 at NLCS. Any tips and suggestions for preparing her for the next round will be very highly and gratefully appreciated.

working247 · 22/01/2014 13:39

working247 · 22/01/2014 16:26

My dd had her 1st round on 6th Jan so it took a while for us to find out.
Just not sure what 2nd round is all about. Any ideas anyone?
And thank you !! Let's see what happens

Dropsy23 · 22/01/2014 16:43

AmIIndecisive · 22/01/2014 23:38

Don't give up hope Dropsy, they are dribbling replies and you could still get a call back.

working247 · 23/01/2014 00:11

Hi mumteacher
I'm sure you must be quite busy preparing for 2nd rounds. I did message you. If possible please share any advice you may have to help prepare my dd for round 2 at Habs 5 +
Any information will be greatly appreciated

lovepretzels · 24/01/2014 00:38

If NLCS have already made up their minds is there anyway to get results sooner? I cant bear this waiting around. I just cant understand why they would wait so long to send out the results. Anyone have any ideas? (other than just be patient which I am struggling with)

AmIIndecisive · 24/01/2014 10:05

Lovepretzels I agree with you the waiting is painful! I suppose the schools all need to send out offers at the same time and some are still in the process of Round 2s but it does seen like time is standing still nonetheless.

SomeSweetPerson1234 · 24/01/2014 10:53

lovepretzels and AmIIndecisive I know how hard to be patient. Good luck to both of you. Just wondering ddid your DDs tell what they did in NLCS 2nd round? My DD said they did some tresure hunt. Don't know what that means.

AmIIndecisive · 24/01/2014 17:19

No - not sure what the schools did to bribe my dd into giving very little away - though I do think the less they tell you after assessments, the worse your chances are at securing a place.

lovepretzels · 24/01/2014 17:30

My dd won't tell me what she did. I have tried asking a few times but she is v tight lipped about the whole thing. I asked her if she did a treasure hunt and she said she didn't.

AmIIndecisive · 24/01/2014 17:36

Also found that interrogation techniques make them even less likely to talk - I shouldn't have been so "Spanish Inquisition" over the assessments and I may have found out more if I'd have just sat back and listened to what she did!

AmIIndecisive - I hope you're wrong as if thats the case we dont stand a chance!

Yes I hope I am too

Kokomma · 24/01/2014 21:12

AmIIndecisive · 24/01/2014 21:29

AmIIndecisive · 24/01/2014 21:30
