It is still in the 1950s

daftdame · 29/05/2013 14:36

Wow...are you very posh learnandsay? I thought that accent may have died with my Granny...

learnandsay · 29/05/2013 14:38

No, I'm not. But lots of the older generations of my family are the better sort. It didn't get passed down to me I'm afraid.

daftdame · 29/05/2013 14:40

I dread to think what 'sort' I am!

learnandsay · 29/05/2013 14:41

The Christmas table was frightfully, frightfully, don't ch know. These days it's just normal because lots of the oldies are long gone now.

daftdame · 29/05/2013 14:43

I don't have a milk jug...sssssh

learnandsay · 29/05/2013 14:44

Right, but you don't dip biscuits, do you?

daftdame · 29/05/2013 14:45

mrz · 29/05/2013 14:47

the queen does Wink

daftdame · 29/05/2013 14:48

Phew! That's all right then...Smile

learnandsay · 29/05/2013 14:50

But the queen has footmen to fish the lumps out of her tea.

daftdame · 29/05/2013 14:51

I'll just use my teeth Grin.

mrz · 29/05/2013 14:56

Scientists claim "dunking" enhances the flavour

learnandsay · 29/05/2013 14:57

Pull the other one.

learnandsay · 29/05/2013 15:04

I guess this thread's totally messed up now:

I don't suppose the good Dr Fisher will still be around when my daughters start taking any meaningful interest in science. But, apparently, he has studied the science of biscuit dunking at Oxford (The Gastronomy Society, not one of the colleges, I hasten to add.) www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/davidgregory/2009/09/dunking_biscuits_in_the_name_o.html That would have brightened up my chemistry lessons!

mrz · 29/05/2013 15:06

and there is a scientific formula to prevent lumps in the bottom of your tea cup

daftdame · 29/05/2013 15:54

I disagree with Gregory's findings regarding the Malted Milk. [sceptical]

Dunking is an advanced skill though, up there with 'higher order thinking' in my opinion, he has only hinted at this variable....

mrz Ah, I see you have this all worked out...and they've even got a nice (or should I say naice?) table which you will be able to look up, very helpful.

mrz · 29/05/2013 16:02

I've got to be honest I only like to dunk home made ginger biscuits in ice cold milk

daftdame · 29/05/2013 16:03

Hmmm... an anomaly?

mrz · 29/05/2013 16:13

possibly

daftdame · 30/05/2013 21:44

Smile you've taken me back to my Grandparents' house! Except it was 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' and 'Brer Rabbit' they used to tell me.
