How much PE does your KS2 child do a week?

I'm getting concerned about how little PE the school provides. dS in yr 5 reports 20 minutes indoor PE, which is country dancing and hardly energetic the way it's taught, this week and 25 minutes last week. No outdoor PE at all. When you consider that there is no afternoon break to run around either, I'm starting to understand why he comes out of school desperate to run around.

How much PE do other schools provide?

DD, 10 years, does two sessions a week, an hour each which includes changing time. The only time they don't go outside is when it's chucking it down.

My lot:YR1, YR2 and YR6, do 2x1hour a week plus 1x1hour swimming. My eldest also does Sailing as an ECA and touch rugby. My YR6 is also in Scouts and my YR2 is in Beavers.

It would be nice if parents also ensured that their children got half an hour of vigorous exercise a day too, anything from skipping to brisk walking.
Nothing expensive.
Because I have children in class I can outdance and outrun and outwalk. Which is a bit sad for a woman in her 50s and a class of 11 year olds.

TheNebulousBoojum, that is what DD's school do - this half term it is/was hockey. Last half term it was dance and gymnastics. In addition to school PE/sport activities, DD also does gymnastics and swimming. We also go to our local farmpark every week for a couple of hours and she runs herself ragged there.

I also agree with children needing daily exercise - with DD and DS (5yo and 20mth), we put on some music every evening and have a good ole dance/run around. It is their favourite part of the day and absolutely free!

My y5 ds does 2 sessions, probably about 45 mins each. Currently doing gymnastics (floor and apparatus stuff) one session, the other doing tag rugby outside.
Last term they were doing swimming for one of those sessions.

3 hours, plus 4.5 hours of school swim squad a week

DS is supposed to do two sessions a week, one indoor and one outdoor. When weather stops the outdoor one it's down to one a week because the hall is already in use.

Dd in yr 5 each week does a session of swimming, Tai chi, gymnastics, dance, Ozbox, rounders and netball. Not sure of the length of sessions but would imagine that they are at least thirty minutes to make the need for getting changed worthwhile so at least three hours per week. Her class do at least one session each day as sometimes she leaves her PE kit on for the whole morning because she has two sessions that day.

Thanks for all your replies, it does look as though poor DS is getting much less than average. I'll bring it up with a mum who is a governor, DS loves sports and little else at school, so it does seem a shame that he gets little opportunity to do the thing he loves. He does go to lots of clubs outside school, as there isn't much available through school, and we do walk to and from school. Well actually, now he is older and ok to wander about the village on his own, he runs to school and dd and I turn up 10 minutes later having walked.

technically 1 hour a week so long as any written work is complete, Ds's school is more focused on writing/spellings than anything else.

DD Y3. 3 x week. Swimming, hockey and netball. At moment. Will change to tennis and athletics in the summer. Also does gymnastics at lunchtime once a week.
