Just wondering if a Level 4 could / has been awarded to anyone's child in y2 and if so if the school has asked for their child to be moved forward a class ?

Would it be necessary to move a child forward or should next years Y3 teacher be asked to differentiate ?

TIA

I really would make sure that's right- sparkles- it's for the LEA not the school to decide.

I think independent schools have a bit more freedom, they offered for DS to go straight from Y1 into Juniors but on so many levels I did not think it appropriate. There are some real social issues with this, often an academic child is quite mature but that is even more reason to ensure they work well with children their own age, it really can cause problems later on - I know this first hand.

Sparkles I do not understand why there would be any need to move him up a year at all, if it is a good school it would be able to differenciate for him properly. What if he moved up a year then plateaued (spelling??) that could seriously dent his confidence. Would he have to repeat Y11?

I guess it is slightly easier for my DSs schools as there are a handful of them working at a high level so they can put them in a group together, DS is the only one working at level 3 but they don't seem to have an issue with stretching him even so and they do not have the option of him working with Y3&4s.
