I am trying to organise a social get together at the pub for the parents in the class. I took some invites into the school today and gave them to a TA to give out. This afternoon the TA gave me them back saying that they couldn't give them out as there was no mention of who they were from and parents might think they are from the school/ teachers.

I'm furious with the teacher and want to go to the head. The thing is that I only complained to her a couple of weeks ago because my DS was upset that a parent helper had written 'no book' in his reading record after I forgot to put his reading book in his bag. How dare they make my DS feel bad for something not his fault.

Why on earth are you furious? The school couldn't be seen to be inviting parents to the pub, and that's what it would have looked like without a name on the invites. That's completely reasonable of the TA. What else could he/she possibly have done?

Is this a wind-up? What am I missing?

Rewrite the invites, making it clear who they're from. Stay away from the Head - she has bigger and better things to worry about.

It's not up to the school to arrange the social night life of the parents, fgs!

is this a joke? What should the helper have done if he had no book? And re the invitation. Put on who its from and says its for all parents and there will be no problem ......

Just add from 'colharbour' or class rep for class x or whatever tp the invites

And 'no book' seems pretty logical to me, it is hardly a sad face and a complaint about your ds

No really, it must be a wind-up.

No book is what you write so that when the parent challenges the fact that their child hasn't been heard read, there's a reason why in the book for one occasion.
I put sticky labels in the book when I've heard them read but their reading record is mislaid at home. I write a label and put it in the book when it turns up again.
Could be a wind-up, could be for real. Parents are such loons individual characters it is hard to tell.

It's not the TA's job to hand your bloody letters out, she is there to support the children in their learning, not the parents in their drinking. Hand your own letters out in future!

I was one a little while ago but do accept that time may have glossed over the memories .

I suppose it's the going to the head part - I could easily imagine a discussion with the teacher happening.

I am sorry to say that I can well believe this is genuine.
