should I go to the head about this?

I am trying to organise a social get together at the pub for the parents in the class. I took some invites into the school today and gave them to a TA to give out. This afternoon the TA gave me them back saying that they couldn't give them out as there was no mention of who they were from and parents might think they are from the school/ teachers.

I'm furious with the teacher and want to go to the head. The thing is that I only complained to her a couple of weeks ago because my DS was upset that a parent helper had written 'no book' in his reading record after I forgot to put his reading book in his bag. How dare they make my DS feel bad for something not his fault.

Is this a thread about a thread per chance? There was a thread recently about someone who was concerned that their ds was being punished for their mistake when he wasn't allowed to go on a school trip because she hadn't filled in the form correctly. Is this a take off of that. The pub bit baffles me though, well the whole thing does really Grin

BoojaBooja · 13/07/2011 21:39

I don't believe the OP. It's too mad.

colharbour · 13/07/2011 21:42

I'm feeling a bit guilty that so many of you have replied. The post is not quite genuine but the story is completely true and has caused many problems for me.

I can't tell you how much your posts have helped. No matter what happens now I feel sure that I am not a failure.

So you are the TA?

Fontsnob · 13/07/2011 21:50

So are you the teacher? Is the bonkers parent really real?

mrz · 13/07/2011 21:50

are you the TA? or the head who got the complaint and laughed?

CQrrrneee · 13/07/2011 21:51

are you the book bag?

Fontsnob · 13/07/2011 21:52

Grin at CQrrrneee

utahforever · 13/07/2011 21:53

or the teacher? who some parents think are responsible for everything Grin

StitchingMoss · 13/07/2011 21:54

Doesn't suprise me at all sadly - parents run to the head over things far more trivial than this Sad.

rebl · 13/07/2011 22:05

Do you work by any chance in my ds's class? I read the OP and thought, OMG, this is X from ds's class. This really could be for real because I think this has actually happened in his class this week Shock.

Honestly there is this batty mother and she does my head in!

mrz · 13/07/2011 22:15

and would you go to the pub with her rebl?

rebl · 13/07/2011 22:19

No. She's controlling and bonkers. I will be on MN busy that evening Grin.

Hufflepuzzpig · 13/07/2011 22:23

It's not up to the school to arrange the social night life of the parents, fgs!

Indeed. That was my first thought. Different for children's party invitations, I gather the teacher sometimes hands those out, but not for a parental piss-up!

NorksAreMessy - I much prefer sweet popcorn, thanks - or that butterkist toffee stuff. They used to do microwave caramel popcorn where you put the toffee stuff on it yourself, maybe it was too dangerous because of burns. Elf n safety etc.

exoticfruits · 13/07/2011 22:24

I am at a loss to know what the parent helper would write if no book-make it up Hmm.
(not for real surely?)

Hufflepuzzpig · 13/07/2011 22:25

Glad it's not YOU who is so nutty OP...

spiderpig8 · 14/07/2011 17:54

'No book' was just an explanation of why your PFB didn't read, and surely you can understand how the pub invites could cause confusion.Just either put your name on the bottom and give them back to teh TA or else give them out yourself.
Neither incident was a slur on your DS or yourself. You are over thinking things way too much!

spiderpig8 · 14/07/2011 17:56

Oh seen your posts. I think it's fine for the school to give out invites just as long as it's clear they are not from the school. They give out a gazillion bits of advertising guff about sports camps, stage schools etc

Fontsnob · 15/07/2011 20:00

Did we ever find out who Colharbour was in this story????

nappysan · 05/08/2011 00:00

Think carefully about you relationship with the head, school and teachers before complaining about trivial things. School is important to you and more importantly, your child.
Choose thoughtfully what to complain about.

Feenie · 05/08/2011 10:00

I doubt she'll be complaining in the summer holidays anyway Grin

mrz · 05/08/2011 10:33

and the OP admitted it wasn't a genuine post some time ago Grin
still want to know who she is in the story

jamdonut · 05/08/2011 14:06

forgetting the letter thing....how can you get upset about "no book" being written in the reading record, when it is, in fact, a true statement? Whether you forgot to put it in or not is immaterial....your child did not have their book when it was their turn to read! Sometimes we have to write these things in the diary so that you are aware, not to upset you! Sheesh! Confused

jamdonut · 05/08/2011 14:10

Blush Oh!Just seen the op's admission! However, the sentiment remains...some people on here do seem to get worked up about the daftest things.Confused

TheFlyingOnion · 06/08/2011 17:11

bahahahahaha

OMG they must hate you.... :)
