What will you do???

thinking of putting out an email to all other mums and arranging a get to gether so kids can run off a bit of energy and mums can eat cake, drink coffee and have a gossip. What about you?

Go to work as usual. :(

DD's teacher isn't striking!

Not sure yet, as i have to work but kids need to play/learn, hoping childminder can accomodate for the extra day. I cant get the day off cause i work in retail so we will be busier if schools are closed as what else is there to do. Am hoping the teachers explain to the kids why they are off as my kids are really upset at the thought of not going to school (3 and 7)

School is open as usual - so I'll probably be doing some housework.

Depends whether or not DS's teacher strikes

I am a teacher and will be at work.

I don't know if dd's school will be open, dp will have to look after her.

Ds's class won't be open, so I will do something with him for the day (may depend on weather). Usually I would be helping in the school library that morning, but all the classes who usually come to the library will be off, so I don't need to go in.

Don't know yet - depends whether

a) both children at school (in which case I will mark accountancy exam papers
b) neither child is at school (in which case we will dp something togetger after getting up late)
c) one child is at school (take that child with other child in tow to school and do something with remaining child. Then pick first child up from school).

No I left the NUT because I did not feel that I had enough information.

We've one off & one at school (different schools), so we'll just probably spend some "quality" time together, me & DD1

Our school has already said it won't need to close, so just a normal day for us.

I'll be going to work.

Some teachers at my DC's school are striking, but I have arranged childcare to cover.

We still haven't been told, but fortunately ds is in Yr 6, so I can get away with the option of leaving some food in the fridge for him. Or offering to take him to work with me (I expect him to decline gracefully).

As a teacher, I am teaching (left a striking union to join a non-striking one).

Have not yet heard from my children's school whether their teachers are striking (school has in the past closed only the classes of striking teachers) so options for that include:

• DH has to stay at home to look after one or both
• Pay childminder to look after one or both for the day (she usually has them for breakfast only)
• Both are at school.

Though actually my head did say I could take my children to the school I teach in for the day - don't know whether DD would enjoy being in my class ;-)

DS, though, is older than the oldest class (I teach in a first school up to year 4, he is in Year 5) and sits somewhere on the autistic specutrum (much worse under stress) so I'm not sure that I could take him in.

DD's school is closed. My mum is taking her for the day - a rare chance for them to be together without dd2 - so that I can get some work done. I love my mum!

Both DH and I will be working from home for the day, so between us and the computer games/DVDs we should manage just about! There will be lots of whinging though.

We have the option of our local childcare provider but it's nearly £100!!! I think it's a bit steep that I have to pay for this on top of the extortionate childcare I already have to shell out for normally, so I am just doing it this way instead - wish me luck!

Half the teachers in our small village school are in the striking unions but even though they are unhappy about the governments plans they don't want to disrupt the children or make life hard for the working parents so they will not be striking.
While I am yet again overwhelmed by their dedication to the children and the thoughtfulness for the parents I can't help but feel they should think about themselves and how the changes will effect them for once.
So normal school day for us. (although they have moved the induction morning where every class moves up for the morning to the next week, that was done before they made the decision not to strike and also it's been a bit scuppered by the high school cancelling it's induction morning, they have now arranged the induction morning for when Y6 are on their trip)

The whole school is closing. We were asked to be 'supportive' in a letter home but funnily enough I find that hard when the post-reform pension is still better than the vast majority of pensions in the private sector.

I am bringing my child to a work run child care centre but she isn't happy because she will miss an extra cirricular class she adores.

Curricular.. I should be the one @ school!

Go to work, my childminder can take both kids but it is expensive all day rather than just for breakfast and after school.
