going to work as usual, kids at school as usual, dh at home - not as usual - and us a few hundred quid short at the end of the month. again. but we'll be striking later on and no doubt the other unions will be ballotting soon so we'd better start saving up a 'strike fund'

I really admire those teachers who have changed union so they don't have to back an action they don't support - so much better than people who don't bother voting in the first place then don't bother striking either - that is v annoying imo

Going down to the picket lines with DH (he's not a teacher, though is public sector). Kids' school is closed, so my mum is having the kids.

I'm not striking, and my school is open. DS's school is closed, so he is coming to work with me for the day - very accommodating head, luckily. Can't afford to pay for a day of childcare on top of full day for DD as well.

ive got my scan booked to see if i am going to mc or not.

So we will have to take ds with us, which means i will have to go into the scan on my own (Dh will have to stay in waiting room with ds) then put a REALLY brave face on it when i come out if its bad news. Cant be upset in front of ds.Sad

Sad faint, I remember having to go to my scans, tests for diabetes and most of my second labour by myself as DH had to care for DD. i felt happier knowing she would be happy whilst I was at the hospital. She was ill with a stomach upset when I went into labour early with DS and we didn't want to use up our babysitting options until we were sure I wasn't just heading back home again.

black, I am really not sure. I have heard that they are planning a ballot if their attempts to contest the legality of the changes in court fail. NASUWT wanted try all other routes before balloting. I have also heard it assumed that any ballot would be completed in time for the further strikes planned by other unions (from all areas of the public sector) in the autumn on a rolling programme.

Luckily Dp happens to have a day off that day so if her teacher strikes, he and dd can spend quality father daughter time toghether whilst I'm in my Maths class. We then just need to find someone to watch her for 10 minutes whilst we have ds's last playschool parent teacher meeting. Sad

Cancel everything and have some 1-1 Mummy and dd1 time Smile

Then pick dd2 up and resume business as usual.

I'll be asleep after a night shift and DH is planning to take the kids to a protest march in support of the teachers. Us public sector workers have to stick together.

As a teacher I'm going in (am in NASUWT) and am planning on tackling my cupboard. There are things in there that haven't seen the light of day for years. Who knows what I will turn up...! :)

I work as a TA these days (was a teacher in the past) and I will be at school. My class teacher is on strike. My class is closed for the day. I'm not obviously, so will be in doing admin type stuff.

I'm a striking teacher, so I won't be in school. Dd's school is open, despite sending home a letter stating that their teachers are not striking, even though they are in the striking unions. So I'll lose a day's pay, but they'll still benefit if the strike has a succesful result Hmm. So I'll probably go to a rally in the town where I teach to show my support.

I will have to take unpaid emergency carers leave and cancel my NHS clinic full of patients. I will spend the day somewhere out of the reach of all phones so that the admin staff can't contact me to tell me how many of them have rung to complain again!
