Hungry, hungry, I am hungry...

Do schools still use this? I remember it from school and when I sing it in work like you do no one knows it and thinks I'm crazy which I am but thats besides the point :)

Hungry, hungry I am hungry
Table, table here I come
I could eat a goose-moose burger
Fifteen pickles and a purple plum

I could eat three bowls of goulash
Half a pound of wuzzled wheat
I could eat a peck of poobers
Then I'd really get to work and eat

Oysters, noodles, strawberry stroodles
French fries, fish hash, one red beet
Lamb chops, wham chops
Huckleberry mish mash
Oh, the things that I could eat

Doughnuts, dump-a-lings
Blueberry bump-a-lings
Chocolate mush-mash, super sweet
Clam stew, ham stew,
Water
melon wush wush
Oh, the stuff that I could eat

Deep dish rhubarb, upside-down cake
I could eat a frittered flum
Hungry, hungry, I am starving
Table, table, here I come

At half past three we go home to tea
Or maybe at quarter to 4
And 10 pairs of feet go running down the street
And in at their own front door
And it's rough and tumble, rattle and noise,
Mothers and fathers, girs and boys,
baby in the carrycot, cat by the stove,
A little bit of quarreling but lots of love

Oh wow I started reading this thread thinking "nope" and then the goulash bit stirred something in my memory and I do remember the Apuskidoo book... thanks OP!

Haha very old thread! Still thanks though!

I remember my DD singing Hungry, hungry, I am hungry" etc when she was in primary school, so that would have been in the 1980s.

We used to sing a song about the Titanic too. Oh wasn't it sad when that great ship went down, or wasn't it sad, mighty sad....

Isn't "the ink is black" considered racist now?
I was told they had to stop singing it because of the verse that went "the child is black, the child is white, together they make a beautiful sight"

OMG thank you. I used to sing this at school but no1 seems to have heard it. Whenever I sing it my family looks at me like I'm crazy cos they have never heard it before. So thanks for putting that on here cos least I have proof that I'm not crazy n didn't make it up n the song is real.
