Has your child got into 1st choice primary?

My paperwork says we will be told today - has anyone heard anything?

I elected to hear via email, but so far have nothing in my inbox (although my email never came for the nursery place either, so not sure)..... Maybe it will be by the end of today.

Does anyone know please?

TIA

We're not hearing till 5pm on Monday 4 April (but I don't expect us to get into our first or even second choice. Sigh.)

TheOldestCat · 31/03/2011 13:25

Where are you? In Kent, we're being emailed 'from 4pm'.

Might be worth having a look at your council's website to see if they give you a time?

ttalloo · 31/03/2011 13:27

We're in London. Wish we were hearing today. Want this waiting to be over and done with.

TheOldestCat · 31/03/2011 13:29

Good luck for Monday, ttalloo - I hope your expectations are exceeded and you do get a place you want. I completely hear you on the waiting!

I think we'll miss our first and second choice too, but I'm just crossing my fingers for our third.

StealthPolarBear · 31/03/2011 13:31

find out tomorrow here...I think we will get second choice which is a shame as we've since decided 2 and 3 should have been the other way round

NinthWave · 31/03/2011 13:32

Cheshire East here - won't find out til 29th April. Apparently our first choice (the school 2 mins walk away) has had 80 applications for 30 places - it's the only Outstanding-rated primary in the area.

My other 2 choices are both rated Good though, so not too bothered!

ttalloo · 31/03/2011 13:32

Thanks, OldestCat. Our third choice would be OK, but I've got to the point of thinking DS1 will end up going to the worst school in the borough (which isn't even on our list). Honestly, the sooner we're put out of our misery, the better!

Hope you get what you want - come back and say!

MrClaypole · 31/03/2011 13:32

Thank you ttalloo for reminding me about this!

Also in London, there's quite a shortage of decent places isn't there?

ttalloo · 31/03/2011 13:41

Yes, there is a huge shortage of places in London, and my borough's one of the worst.

It doesn't help that rumours have been circulating that our first-choice school, which has a two-form entry, has given 35 places to siblings alone.

I wish we'd thought ahead when buying our house about little things like catchment areas - all we cared about pre-DC was proximity to the tube and having a drive, not whether we'd be a shoe-in for the best schools in the borough!

fedupwithdeployment · 31/03/2011 13:49

We find out on Monday too - Lambeth. All a bit stressful. Am hoping for choice 1 or 2 - both really near (5 mins walk), but you just don't know.

Good luck all.

TheOldestCat · 31/03/2011 16:20

Well, we got offered our third choice. Have mixed feelings as I loved the first two (especially the one 0.3 miles away!). But it will be fine, I'm sure.

Good luck to the rest of you!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 31/03/2011 16:23

no idea - we don't find out until 15th April.
we are quite unlikely to get into our 1st choice, so i am focusing on our second choice. will be overjoyed if we do get the 1st one.

MillieMummy · 31/03/2011 16:28

fedup - I am in Lambeth and waiting to hear too. We have a good chance of DS getting in as he is a sibling, however I will only believe it is true when I see it for myself in writing Hmm.

Best of luck for Monday.

StealthPolarBear · 31/03/2011 16:30

Oh TOC :( Can you / would you appeal? Waiting list?

TheOldestCat · 31/03/2011 16:43

Thanks, Stealth. I'm not sure what to do next. Will chat with DH when he gets home.

To be honest, we thought we'd definitely miss out on the first one, even though it's so close, although we were hopeful for at least the second choice. Ah well, as disappointments go, it's not so bad.

A beer tonight, I think. Smile

Good luck the rest of you - report back!

katalex · 31/03/2011 16:45

I'm anxiously waiting for the email today too. Dh filled in the form so I've been bugging him to check. We've got a good chance at our first choice because dd is already there. Good luck everyone.

katalex · 31/03/2011 17:14

Just got the email. We got our first choice Smile

Have you heard yet wicked fairy?

wickedfairy · 31/03/2011 17:25

Have not heard yet... Keep hitting the refresh button like a loony, but nada.

Last year we didn't even get an email re nursery and we were supposed to, so maybe the same again, although others got the email. Will report back as soon as I know!

Good luck to the rest of you!! :-)

We were told it would be tomorrow but it came this evening and is our first choice thank goodness. Out of catchment and always have been but we are close and both bigger girls have gone there and dd2 will be in yr 6 when dd3 starts.

Northernlurker · 31/03/2011 18:41

The oldest cat - ring up tomorrow and find out where you are on the waiting list. If the school is so close and there is any sort of proximity priority at all then you should be quite high up. With secondary for dd1 I did that and found we were number one on the list! We got a place a week later.

StealthPolarBear · 31/03/2011 18:43

:o NL glad you got her a place
Did you get an email?

IngridBergmann · 31/03/2011 18:44

yep yep yip

we got an email about 5.30. (kent also)

Hope everyone gets somewhere they like x

Northernlurker · 31/03/2011 18:53

Thanks SPB - yup lovely, lovely e-mail Grin

Eddas · 31/03/2011 18:59

Glad you got your 1st choice NL Smile

We got 1st choice for ds, but he's a sibling and in catchment area so was always the most likely outcomeSmile

YAY!

I got my email just before the stated time (4pm) but I know some people still haven't had their's. They were able to log into the website where we made the application and can see on there which school has been offered. I think letters are posted out tonight

wickedfairy · 31/03/2011 19:13

If you log on, do you click on view/amend an existing application? I have 4 options: make an app/view an app/appeal/view appeal

the 2nd option just shows my app - nothing to say what choice has been given and no email yet either......
