Correlation between height and period

I have seen a few threads on this but was hoping there were mums on here who noted their DD's height/age when period started to where they are now.

Mine started her period aged 12, 12 months on and she is about 3 inches taller, she’s had a definite growth spurt – obviously don’t know if she has reached her full adult height yet

MonaChopsis · 17/08/2021 14:58

DD started her period just before her 11th birthday, she was 47kg & 164cm/5"4. Her growth spurt started before her period, she grew about 7 inches in that year.

Pinkyxx · 17/08/2021 18:39

DD started a few weeks after 12th birthday, height ~ 148cm. I don't weigh her so no idea what weight, she's quite slight / slim built. Oddly she's the shortest in her class and most of her school friends haven't started yet. She did have a definite growth spurt before starting and continues to grow in height.

Passthecake30 · 21/08/2021 18:09

My dd had her first period early July (not had another yet, 6 weeks on),at 5ft3, age 11. She grew about 4” in the last year, and is plotted to be about 5ft8 so has some growing to do still.

countrytown · 21/08/2021 18:16

mine came at 13, think I was about 5ft 8 at that point but I grew late. Very skinny though.

DobieGrayshark · 21/08/2021 18:19

My DD is still waiting at age nearly 14. But she’s only 5ft or just below.

IggyAce · 21/08/2021 18:37

My dd is still waiting at nearly 15 and is currently 5ft 6. She still has growing to do estimate is at last another 4 inches.

traumatisednoodle · 21/08/2021 18:40

Dd was 13 and a half, 163cm about 45kg

Plastic01 · 23/08/2021 11:21

What height is your dd OP?

tigermummy10 · 23/08/2021 12:02

@Plastic01 She's 160cm and and nearly 12.

Iheartbaby · 23/08/2021 14:11

Op my daughter is about to be 12 and 160cm too.

ragged · 23/08/2021 18:34

5'4" at menarche, 5'7" = final adult height

tootiredtobother · 23/08/2021 18:37

i thought it was only weight related 65kgs rings a bell, body must be able to sustain a pregnancy.

DelphiniumBlue · 23/08/2021 18:39

I did read that 7 stone ( approx 45kg) was a sort of trigger weight for the onset of periods. No idea how true that is, would be interesting to find out.

DelphiniumBlue · 23/08/2021 18:41

@tootiredtobother

i thought it was only weight related 65kgs rings a bell, body must be able to sustain a pregnancy.
65kg is over 10 stone, so although I think weight could be the trigger, 65kg is way too high.
tiredanddangerous · 23/08/2021 18:41

Both of my dds started at about 5ft 2.

Nowmum43 · 12/09/2021 14:16

My dd is 12 next month and started her periods in July. Not sure on her height but I am 5ft and she is not quite my height yet. She's slim and the first of her friends to start her period.

RosesAndHellebores · 12/09/2021 14:20

DD was ten and a half and about 5'2". One of the tallest in Y6. She is now 23 and just under 5'4".

toadstool32 · 16/09/2021 22:39

Dd started in January at 10y8m, 5'2 and 6.5stone she had a mega growth height spurt in the six months leading up to it. Still growing but growth has slowed.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 16/09/2021 22:41

It's weight rather than height iirc, 7 stone.

LouNatics · 16/09/2021 22:52

Dc1 at 5.7, just under 6st, Dc2 at 5.9 and 6.5st, both went straight to regular and predictable cycles which was useful, they were probably later starters as very slim

dementedpixie · 16/09/2021 22:56

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

It's weight rather than height iirc, 7 stone.
Its body fat % rather than a particular weight
dementedpixie · 16/09/2021 22:57

Is OP not asking about how much they grow in height after their period started rather than height affecting when they start?

Thunderface · 16/09/2021 23:00

I used to think there was a connection to height/weight so I was extremely surprised when my 12yr9 month old started recently. She's barely 5ft, a dancer and very slim to the point that I worry a little at times. Very fit and healthy though.

Thunderface · 16/09/2021 23:02

Misread the OP, sorry. My older dd is also very short. She grew about 1 inch in the 3 years after her first period.
