Is superdry no longer trendy? I need to buy dd a coat...

Dd starts high school next week, she's not really into fashion (doesn't care what she wears ), she needs a new coat and I would like to get her something trendy rather than a cheap rain coat ( like she usually has ). I have heard that superdry coats are no longer trendy? Do what are pre teens and teens now wearing?

Maybe depends on where you are, Superdry still trendy enough here but maybe not the top of the list desirable anymore but I am an iold fart and DSs only play at having fashion labels, they are not into them too much either.

if shes not into fashion, then id say dont bother with brand names. Get her something from h&m. Leave the wasting money on bullshit designer and brands for if and when it might actually mean something to her

Dd is year 8 (aged 12) and they are into anything new look and primark. Superdry isn't really a brand name they would care about either way. New look teens is definitely THE thing with them!

I don't know about trends but dp has a lot of superdry stuff and we've noticed the quality has really gone down hill in the last few years. Most of his t-shirts seem to get holes under the arm, or the transfer washes off; jumpers get holes; the zip broke on his expensive leather jacket. Honestly for the price of the stuff I would look elsewhere if you want it to last.

She hates new look , she's a bit of a Tom boy so I can't even get her to go into the shop.

I want to get her something fashionable because she has Aspergers and struggles to fit in ( I know it sounds ), she would happily live in a minecraft t shirt and a pair of jeans , maybe just a simple black coat will do?

If she is a bit of a tomboy and you want something decent, practical and with a name that will go down well with her peers, then I'd go for one of the better outdoor brands such as The North Face or Berghaus. Imo you are better with either a decent brand or completely brandless rather than the wrong brand.

Having said that, I have boys and the only time I really see girls going to school then they are in uniform and the uniform has a compulsory blazer, so that's all i see the girls wearing.

No High School pupil in these parts would consider wearing any coat. At all. Ever.
Superdry is naff according to my DSs (13 and 16). That's the one with a Japanese logo on the back but with a Head office in Cheltenham isn't it?

DD school has a mix some super dry some out door clothes shops, some m&s. I dont think it matters! But if they have blazers take that to try on.

She sounds a bit like I was as a child/teen, and I'd rather have had the black coat than the branded one, unless the branded one was really cool (in a useful, probably geeky way).

Superdry still in here. Agree with wanker though, berghaus and North face are always in, and actually worth the money in my opinion too cos they are actually quality.

Totally agree that they'll never wear the bloody thing anyway.... the snow has to be 10 foot deep before dd would even consider wearing her coat...!

She would consider brands like berghaus and north face the type of thing I would wear and wouldn't like them at all. I guess it all depends on the teen!!

What is it with trendy coat threads, today?

I walked past a Superdry last weekend and it was most definitely full of teens and tweens with their parents.

Given the age of your DD, why don't you ask her what she actually likes. My 11yo DS isn't fashion conscious, but I don't buy him anything without either passing it by him or already being confident that he will like it.

I don't think mine would want the sort of coat you would buy from an outdoorsy shop to go on a stomp up Scafell Pike any more than a Superdry one.

Half of DS1's stuff is Landsend. It's practical, good value in teen sizes, and he likes it.

Agree . I live off a road that teenagers at three local secondaries walk along to school . No one ever wears a coat-boys or girls . (mine didn't either, despite my protests) Sometimes a very thick scarf and gloves with blazer if it's really cold. I assume they don't have lockers

She will have a locker to put it in.

I spoke to my DSD ( who I bought a superdry coat for a few years ago ) and she doesn't wear a coat at all.

I think dd will want to wear something as she has to wait for the bus and their is no bus shelter. I will look at lands end. If I ask her she will say 'get me anything' she's really not bothered about what she wears as long as it's not pink or girly.

Notice around here lots of teen girls wearing khaki coloured coats. No particular brand but that colour seems popular. Is there an outlet centre near where she could pick one?

She probably won't need a coat at all until after half term. Is there any chance she could use the time until one is really needed to spot what is being worn and report back?

OK, it won't come naturally to her, but would she respond to specific tasking?

Still plenty of teens wearing items of Superdry, Hollister and Jack
Wills here. And the shops are always full of them, usually with a parent hanging around ready to pay.
