A lot of us have been here before. We Prepped for Brexit. Some of us are Heathcare workers. We prepare for the worst every day. It's difficult to predict what will happen in our lives. In our lifetime. Will we get Cancer? Will a huge meteorite wipe the world out?

One thing is for sure, this new virus is either affecting us, or is going to affect us all very soon. You are all already onboard. I hope you are prepared and much as you can be. And in the meantime this thread is here to support us all.

This week will bring many new challenges. We are almost certain to have some sort of lockdown. Like other parts of Europe. We aren't special. We aren't different. We are all
fragile souls. But I hope we live to tell the tale.

God Speed.

My poor DH is beside himself. He's being told to cancel outpatients clinics to prepare for COVID. But his patients are chronically unwell and need to be seen; the appointments aren't just for fun. Very very stressful.

Legoandloldolls · 15/03/2020 23:37

Ah echo. It's so blinking stressful on every level. My friend said today her boss has just been diagnosed with serious cancer. Such bad timing for so many. It's the small levels of sadness that eventually crush you.

I think for good mental health you need to look at each layer. Sort what you can, be sorry about the rest of the layers of course but carry them around. Or it's going to crush you

Legoandloldolls · 15/03/2020 23:41

My mums neighbours ceiling has collapsed, she no hot water. Her brother just died, her oven/ dishwasher and washing machine are all broken. I had no idea as I have t checked on her in six months. I cant fix every thing but I can fix some things. I'm going to focus on finding her some second hand appliances to busy my mind. I help her, it focuses me, so she in return helps me. Its all we can do right now

BlackeyedSusan · 16/03/2020 01:26

Well, following on from my post re: my 7 year olds temperature last night I'm totally convinced she has it. Temp peaked so far tonight at 39.1 (she's been sick because of temp) and she has been crying as her upper chest into lower throat is so painful. She is breathing ok (but fast) and finding it hard to lie down so have propped her up. She started with a cough on Friday evening, but not a really bad one. Feeling very strange about it all. Feels like we have an invisible 'intruder' in the house. My daughter seems to be doing ok so far, but I'm worried how my 3 year old will be and worried for myself as I'm very suseptible to chest infections, the last one in September lasted 3 months. Of course it might not be CV (thanks to non-testing we'll never effing know) but my gut instinct is saying it 100% is

The Czech republic is underneath quarantine. All Czechs will have to stay at home under the quarantine, which comes into force on Sunday, March 15 at midnight.

The decision was made to protect the most vulnerable people in the country, PM Babis said, and the measures will take effect from midnight March 16 to 6 am March 24, adding the government recommended that those who can work from home or take holidays.

In practical terms, people will be allowed to leave their homes only to buy food and medicine, commute to work, go to hospitals and banks, or take trips related to the care of the young and the elderly.

Police patrols will be taking place.

Orangecake123 · 16/03/2020 05:43

Sorry *under.

Orangecake123 · 16/03/2020 05:46

Im sorry to hear your child ha very unwell.

Orangecake123 · 16/03/2020 05:58

Sorry this is the first time i've been using my iphone to post and everything is being autocorrected and i accidentally hit post.

Im sorry to hear your child is unwell. How is she doing this morning?

savethecat · 16/03/2020 06:39

And so, Today the govt/media spin showing herd immunity is the answer and that it isn't too bad - from those who have had it.

VenetoResident · 16/03/2020 06:49

@bobbbbby - I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

What are you doing to help her? Maybe we can suggest something. Look after yourself too. Remember very few kids get any serious issues with CV. Even if she does have it she's going to be fine.

I gave my DS paracetamol and ibuprofen at max dosage. I'm not so sure about the ibuprofen now after the headlines coming out of France. I was reading last night jt was fake news that got out of hand. Who knows?

Have you got support in case you become ill too?

For anyone who might be interested, this is what the government is going to hopefully sign today to help Italians:

Healthcare, families, businesses, workers. But also specific aids for tourism and boost to the Italian production of masks. The new draft of the anti-Coronavirus decree that ANSA has been able to view is 113 articles. The measures are worth over twenty billion. Various sources of government confirm this to ANSA. The overall value of the measure will be defined only after the final screening of the government but as of now it can be estimated that the amount used will be close to the 25 billion for which the executive has had the authorization of the Parliament.

The text is still subject to revision and therefore subject to change: it will also be examined by the technicians in the pre-council scheduled at 4 pm, before arriving on the table of the Council of Ministers in the evening.

Against the coronavirus emergency, the government will be able to issue new debt up to a maximum of 25 billion. "In order to find the resources to ensure the liquidity necessary for the implementation of the interventions referred to in this decree - reads the financial provisions - the issue of government securities is authorized for an amount of up to 25,000 million euros for the 2020 ". However, the same article also refers to other hedging funds without currently indicating the amounts.

The companies most affected by the coronavirus (sports, including gyms, art and culture such as theaters and cinemas, transport, catering, education and assistance) will be able to take advantage of the suspension until May 31 of payments of withholdings, contributions, awards insurance and VAT for the next March deadline. Upon resumption of the collection, the suspended payments will be made, without penalties and interest, in a single solution or with a maximum of 5 monthly installments starting from May 2020.

Almost 5 billion are arriving for the social safety nets, granted for all for 9 weeks, to cope with Coronavirus: as announced in these days in the draft of the anti-Coronavirus decree, still subject to change, about 1.3 billion are expected for the Cig ordinary and to transform Cigs (338 million) into ordinary. Another 3.3 billion will be used to extend the cash notwithstanding the sectors not currently covered, including agriculture and fisheries. Housework is excluded.

Suspension of mortgage payments on the first home for those in difficulty, extended also to the self-employed, without the need to present the ISEE. This is provided by the draft of the anti-Coronavirus decree which is still susceptible to changes which extends the links of the Gasparrini Fund, currently reserved for families in difficulty due to job loss, death or non-self-sufficiency, even to self-employed workers or freelancers who present self-certification of a drop more than a third of the emergency turnover. A guarantee fund of 500 million is foreseen.

Leave for parents who have children under 12 sent home after school closes. Special leave will be valid from March 5th for all employees. The allowance will be a maximum of 15 days to be used between mom and dad not simultaneously, and will be equal to 50% of the salary. This is foreseen by the latest draft of the decree which is still subject to change. No age limit for disabled children. Special unpaid leave will also be granted to employees with children between 12 and 16 years of age.

A prize of 100 euros for the month of March 2020 to employees, public and private, who have continued to work in the workplace. The prize is for those who earn no more than 40 thousand euros a year and are tax-free. It is compared to the working days at the headquarters and is given automatically by the employer, if possible in the April paycheck or in any case within the year-end adjustment.

Self-employed workers will receive a one-time indemnity of 500 euros. The allowance is provided for professionals and collaborators, for seasonal workers, tourism and spa workers, agriculture and also for show business workers.

The prefect may requisition hotel structures, or other suitable properties, to house people under medical surveillance and fiduciary isolation or permanently at home. The head of the Civil Protection can also seize in use or in property, from any public or private entity, "medical and medical-surgical devices, as well as movable property of any kind", to face the Coronavirus emergency. Compensation is foreseen.

50 million funds are arriving at Invitalia to be distributed to companies for the purchase of gloves and masks. The resources will be transferred from INAIL to Invitalia by 30 April. A tax credit of 50% is also provided for the expenses incurred by those who carry out business activities for the sanitation of work environments and tools, up to a maximum of 20 thousand euros.

It is allowed to produce surgical masks in derogation of the current regulations. The manufacturing companies that intend to make use of the derogation must send the ISS self-certification on the technical characteristics of the masks, respecting all safety requirements. The ISS in 2 days decides on the compliance of the masks with the current regulations. The non-repayable incentives to companies that already produce them are also confirmed.

A "fund of last resort income" for workers damaged by Coronavirus arrives. The measure provides a form of income support for employees and self-employed workers who have ceased, reduced or suspended their activity and who in 2019 had not earned more than 10,000 euros. To support them, a fund of 200 million is set up to pay an allowance in 2020. The Ministry of Labor will define the criteria.

The anti-coronavirus decree allocates 1.15 billion to finance standard national health needs and 1.5 billion to the National Emergency Fund set up at the Civil Protection. This is what the first part of the draft provision for examining the preconsideration, dedicated to dealing with the health emergency, provides.

"We are doing and we will do everything necessary to protect and support the country. Italy is stronger than Covid-19. These are the decisive hours for the decree to protect health, families, work and businesses. None he will be left alone. United we will succeed. " This was stated by the Minister of Economy Roberto Gualtieri on twitter.

Re: washing wipes

@Pinkerpellosa it needs to be a 60 degree wash for soiled nappies so assume the same for adult wipes.

I did not know this until I went to a training dressing at a nappy library

It also needs to be on the cotton setting of your machine as that programme uses more water which is necessary to clean properly.

Just watching Piers Morgan on GMB. He's so brilliant on challenging the inconsistent advice on this!

itsnotjustflu · 16/03/2020 07:33

Morning. Is there any way of getting our 5 a day from longer life products? Any suggestions please

itsnotjustflu · 16/03/2020 07:37

@bobbbbby keep us updated....lots of fresh air in their lungs and ring if they get worse

Heartyhooker · 16/03/2020 07:47

@itsnotjustflue canned goods still contains vitamins and minerals as do frozen ones. Off the top of my head I know there is a list in tin Can cook. I am personally giving everyone vitamins , which I don't normally do , at the moment.

The five a day advice is not that valid, some people wanted to say seven and others think it doesn't make much difference

AWryGiraffe · 16/03/2020 07:55

@Pinkerpellosa 40 degrees is fine. Cloth nappies need a really long wash because they absorb significant amounts of wee which need a lot of water and agitation in the machine to clean properly. For wipes only, you will just have a small amount of surface soiling. Washing on 60 is also fine though, just stick towels in after the rinse to make it more efficient

AlohaMolly · 16/03/2020 07:59

Good morning everyone. Day three of self isolation here and poor DS is already bouncing off the walls. It’s so hard not to get frustrated!

Legoandloldolls · 16/03/2020 08:03

Morning

After yesterday I think I need to be careful of my mental load. I dont think I'm going to have any in depth conversations with dh over this anymore. I'm going to make my decisions and do whatever I need to do.

Its times like this i do feel sad that i have a husband who just checks out of big decisions. He defaults them all to me but then doesn't mentally prop me up.

I'm worried for my mum. He has never once mentioned his parents. Possibly only concerned for himself which is very sad but hes not showing evidence to the contrary.

I dont have much money left but i might do a little shop. Because until we are told what's going to happen, every day feels it could be last day before lockdown. I dont want to queue up. I dont want to take the kids to the shops.

I have to decide what I'm going to worry about as I fear my MH might nose dive. I'm on anxiety pills as it is. I dont get any reassurance from dh

Legoandloldolls · 16/03/2020 08:07

Plus dh has called his parents at all. Said he doesn't know what to say ffs. If he drove to them it would be because he was at death door. I have decided I would go or have him near my kids for two weeks after if they was infected. So I guess it might be easier if his views are removed anyway. We are renovating another house. I might order a fridge and freezer than he could live there.
