Or something of a similar name.

Can anyone recall it. It is a fictional story set out like a blog. It was linked to on a preppers thread I was on before we got our own topic (in chat iirc)

I really want to read it again but can't find it.

Thanks for the link - I'm hooked, it's really got my imagination going :) I found the authors facebook page ( www.facebook.com/suzannegoldringauthor ) so am hoping she'll release more :)

zombiesarecoming · 25/11/2015 23:24

More than an evenings work reordering it cozie

Has taken me all evening today but I had a couple of hours yesterday as well, the long tedious copy and paste every day in order putting it into word

Thought it would be easier to read doing it that way and just printing it out but it is nearly 170 pages long as a word document so I will probably sit and read it on screen after all

Stratter5 · 26/11/2015 00:03

Lol I had the same idea, but decided it would use up a ridiculous amount of ink and paper.

cozietoesie · 26/11/2015 00:43

You're probably right, zombies - and that also assumes that she could resist 'author pangs' and not start to fiddle with it. Wink

Someone could drop her a quick FB message though and maybe link her to this thread. She might welcome the fact that people are interested in her writing. Smile

howtorebuild · 26/11/2015 12:52

I am going to have a read too, then. Smile

powerless2015 · 29/11/2015 18:52

I am so pleased that you have all enjoyed reading my blog, Powerless - The Year The Lights Went Out. As so many people have been trying to read it from the archives on the elsteadwritersgroupwordpress site, I am going to start reposting the whole story from the very beginning. This will start on December 1, 2015. And if a publisher takes an interest I will let you know!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/11/2015 19:07

Wow powerless pleased to meet you Grin sorry about a few of my comments Blush. It was very gripping. I'm going for a reread.

DeltaSunrise · 29/11/2015 19:46

Thanks for posting Powerless.

It was just as good the 2nd time round. Grin

Hey powerless, a big welcome to MN. Thoroughly enjoyed reading your work, and would definitely buy it :)

lighteningirl · 30/11/2015 19:48

How exciting can't wait to read it

cozietoesie · 30/11/2015 23:26

Good to see you on the board, powerless Smile

If no publisher shows a strong enough interest, why not try self-publishing on Amazon. I posted the link earlier after looking into another poster's suggestion but here it is again for convenience.

cozietoesie · 13/12/2015 13:08

This a very good read. I think I may have changed my mind about the format; while I still like the notion of having it all together to read, perhaps having a daily instalment also has much merit.

I read the words 'pet pig' with some trepidation though. Don't tell me!

zombiesarecoming · 13/12/2015 14:13

I finally finished it a few days ago after cutting and pasting it all into word and printing it out to read

My DW has now started it and was struggling to put it down earlier, think she is already about a third of the way through

She came in just now suggesting other things we need, just in case

SootyTheCat · 21/12/2015 21:26

Thanks for linking this, it was a really good read.

I liked the way most of the town people were very polite and British about the whole thing, and just stayed quietly in their homes to die of cold and thirst! I've always imagined the immediate post-"event" few weeks to be like some horror movie with hordes of people trashing everything and everyone, but who knows maybe society could keep going after all? Especially if there was hope that a solution/help was on its way, maybe people would wait at home and end up dying there?

The nest instalment is due today. Smile

powerless2015 · 04/01/2016 15:57

So pleased to hear that people are still enjoying Powerless. I know it's not a proper peppers guide, but it was only ever meant to be one person's view of how to cope if they suddenly faced such a crisis. I have been formatting the document for Kindle and it should be available before long. Without knowing that people appreciated it, I don't think I would have had the confidence to publish it. So thanks, everyone!

cozietoesie · 04/01/2016 17:12

Gosh, I'm really glad that there might be a Kindle version. Even if you only sell one copy, eh?

Smile
cozietoesie · 04/01/2016 17:13

PS. - but I think it will be more.

DeltaSunrise · 04/01/2016 21:12

I'll definitely get it if it becomes available on kindle. Smile

Ambroxide · 12/01/2016 21:05

I'll buy it on Kindle. I thought it was great and would happily read again.

powerless2015 · 19/01/2016 15:44

Thank you all for your encouragement. Powerless - The Year The Lights Went Out is now available on Kindle. There will be a paperback before too long.

cozietoesie · 19/01/2016 19:21

I'm afraid that you will also have to hold a (virtual) party on this board when some TV company comes knocking for movie rights. Grin

Ambroxide · 20/01/2016 10:34

Fantastic! Well done. I am just about to go and buy it!

Stratter5 · 23/01/2016 22:26

Oh wow, that's wonderful. Can't wait to get it in paperback.

Congratulations!
