For me, there would also be an issue of chemical stability, though. Given that they're self-heating, there will be heating chemicals included in the pack so you're not just looking at nutritional value but also for how long the heating 'bit' would work safely.

I have just read about the camping gas stove with a Shock face.

Because and please don't shout! when I was pg with DD we had bought a doer-upper. It had no running water, no oven or hob. We also had no sofa or bed, we basically camped in the house.

8 months we lived like that, my little camping gas stove was our only method of cooking.

I now realise that it was probably due to the houses inherent structural problems draughtiness that we are still here!

(I made him sell the house when DD was 5 weeks old as I simply couldn't cope anymore!)
