I know it's way too early yet but had my gorgeous premmy On the 17th july at 31+2, just curious when other people's babies were allowed home? Docs have said aim for due date (sep 16th) but if all is well then could be before. I understand everyones different just curious.... Grin

32 weeker. Same advice from drs was to aim for due date but would hopefully be before. Was also told my DC had to be a minimum of 35 weeks, maintaining body temperature on her own, not needing any extra O2 and a min weight of 4kg before she could come home - came home at 35 weeks exactly but I had to keep fingers crossed DD didn't poo before the daily weigh in as she was borderline on the weight Smile

Born at 31+6 weighing 3lb5. Home about six weeks later when she was 4lb and gaining weight. Was due to come home a bit earlier but iron levels were poor so ended up having a blood transfusion. Once she was home we never looked back. She gained weight really quickly and reached all milestones at her actual age rather than adjusted age.

Born tab 29 weeks. Home three days before due date. I second the person above who said that you don't want to rush baby home too fast - it's scary when you lose the NICU safety net.

I had an emergency c-section when I was exactly 33 weeks. Baby spent 24 hours in ICU and was then moved to special care. We was told to aim for due date but we were very lucky as baby was allowed home 13 days after being born! I think it depends on each baby individually and if they pick up any infections etc! Hope you're baby is doing well Smile

Born at 32 weeks came home after 3 weeks
I was told about a checklist so once they are okay with their breathing eating weight temperature and or if other health requirements can be met outside of hospital your good to go
Hope all's well :)

Born 29 weeks, came home 2 days after due date. Almost came home on oxygen but pulled out his own nasal cannula a couple of days before discharge so they decided to leave him be!

DD born 27+1 weighing 697g, we were also told to aim for her due date hut she struggled with feeding & put weight on really slowly. In the end she went home about 2 weeks after her due date with the feeding tube still in (stayed in till she was about 10 months) on a mixture of expressed milk & high calorie formula. All the best with your lo xxx

Mine was born at 34 weeks. We were told to assume she would be in hospital until her due date.

In the end we were there only two weeks. Her jaundice had to be under control and she had to be back to birth weight before she was allowed home

Congratulations! Having a baby in hospital is no walk in the park and so I'm almost certain a well done for hanging in there is in order! Our gorgeous girl was born at 32+5 and we went home at 35+5. This was because her breathing, temperature etc were stable. We are being followed up at home quite intensively (every few days) at home, which also facilitated this. All the very best with your little bundle of joy!

26+5 weeker. Spent 9 weeks in hospital including 2 weeks in Intensive Care and the rest in SCBU. Came home at 36+3.

Mine was born at 28+3 by emergency c section weighing just 1lb 10oz. Cane out 3 days before his due date, he struggled to put on weight and had a few infections along the way. At one stage he was very poorly.

nattygk · 26/10/2017 21:26
