Hey mums. I’ve just started the medical abortion process, I’ve taken the first tablet a couple of hours ago. I’m absolutely terrified is anyone able to chat to me please? And can anyone please give me some gentle experiences as everything I’ve read online has terrified me. Has anyone had an experience that hasn’t resulted in pains as bad as labour etc? Would appreciate anyone to chat to.

@Ellemkc I did mine on the 23/12 - so was off for Xmas.. back at work on the 3rd Jan though and I’ve been fine since! Christmas Eve was fine for me.. abit of cramping and heavy bleeding but it just felt like a normal period for me and as the days went on the bleeding died off.. stopped bleeding around 10 days after then on and off spotting/very slight bleeding since until today! Hope you recover quickly :)

Had my scan yesterday, and telephone appt this morning, being sent th pills in the post hopefully they will come Saturday if not Monday at the latest, I think I will actually cry if they don’t come Saturday I’ve really been struggling with sickness, I’ve got Sunday and Monday off, working Tuesday and Thursday and then off for a week I’m really hoping to be able to work those two days after taking the pills, I feel a lot more relief now I feel like I’m guna be back to my old self soon just got one final hurdle to get through.

Ellemkc · 12/01/2023 14:12

@Confusedandlost1812 thank you. Just started spotting and haven’t taken the 4 pills yet but will be doing that soon. @Howdidigethere23 hope you’re doing ok now x

Hi, I'm doing OK thankyou, how you are too? I rang the clinic today just to check everything sounds like it's worked and she seemed certain even though I've barely had bleeding, just a day of clots yesterday. She also said with the 4 days of bleeding it doesn't have to be 4 days one after the other and can be one hour today then half a day on Saturday and so on. Thought I'd pass it on incase your in a similar situation to me x

@Howdidigethere23 thank you so much, I’m glad she said that sounded normal and glad you’re doing ok. That’s useful to know as I took my 4 pills at 3.30pm and the remaining 2 at 6pm, now it’s 8pm and I’ve had bleeding but nowhere near as much as I imagined! I am just under 6 weeks so I hope it’s normal. I’m cramping too but again not as bad as I thought. I just pray it’s worked but obviously won’t know for 3 weeks :(

Bluebell350 · 13/01/2023 00:15

Hi,
I hope not too personal a question, but when the nurse scanned you, did she ask if you wanted to know how many fetuses were in your womb before medical abortion. Is this standard practice??

PixieDust10 · 13/01/2023 06:05

@Bluebell350
hi when I was scanned they did say to me that if it was multiples then she would have to tell me.

Worried199 · 13/01/2023 07:28

Hey, I had my scan with bpas and she asked me if I would like to see the scan and also if I would like to know if it was a multiple pregnancy
if you don’t get asked and you don’t want to know maybe ask

Bluebell350 · 15/01/2023 17:36

Thank you. I was asked, but did not want to know at the time. Always wondered if it was standard or if I was carrying more than one😔 and that is why she asked me.xxxx

Bluebell350 · 15/01/2023 17:37

Thank youxxx

PixieDust10 · 20/01/2023 13:34

@Destinae23 I was in your position 4 weeks ago and it was nowhere near as bad as I had imagined it to be. i made sure I had painkillers, drinks etc near me and stayed in bed as long as I could. Stay strong and hope it all goes ok.

Destinae23 · 20/01/2023 13:48

Well that’s made me a feel abit better Thankyou did u take the pain killers before and did u insert then vaginally or put them in your mouth to dissolve x

PixieDust10 · 20/01/2023 14:05

@Destinae23
I took codeine half an hour before I took the tablets on the 2nd day. I took the 1st 4 vaginally then the last 2 in my mouth. It all started properly within an hour of taking the last lot of tablets.
my inbox is always open if you need any advice or support. X

Destinae23 · 20/01/2023 14:26

Do you have to put them in your vagina for them to work properly or does it not matter I’m so scared honest to god so worried that I’m gonna pass out or something xx

It doesn't matter, bpas told me either one will work the same and they only thing they advice is vaginally if your feeling sick. Please don't worry, it's not like the horror stories you read online x

Destinae23 · 20/01/2023 22:56

Are you sure I’m so scared how was your experience x

It was one of the questions I asked when having the phone appointment. Either is fine honestly.
My experience was nothing like the Internet stories. Took the first at 12pm then the next four the following day at 12pm nothing happened apart from some slight cramping, took the last 2 at 4pm and still nothing but light cramps, woke up the next morning to light bleeding and cramps. I never bled heavy or had really bad cramps. 4 days after I started bleeding again but nothing heavy.
Hope your OK x

scaredmu · 12/02/2023 19:45

Hey @Ellemkc im so sorry i totally forgot to come back to this post and reply! Did everything go okay? Hope you’re okay. It’s been a long road for me the process was over all a lot smoother than what I’d read on the internet but the bleeding and pain did get worse a few days after the tablets before it got better, although still bearable! And since then it’s just been waiting for my period which has been wild, wow my hormones have been hurrendous. My poor partner because I have been miserable and angry beyond words lol. Have you experienced the same? Anyway hope you’re doing okay? :)

@scaredmu ah thanks so much for your message; thankfully I think I was really lucky and I didn’t have too bad a time of it, cramps and like a heavy period but nothing more. The worst parts for me were waiting for the pills to arrive and then waiting to take the test to check it worked! Also, like you say hormones have been awful. I have been so angry and anxious and upset, all over the place! but my period literally came yesterday exactly one month later so I feel lucky it’s so been quite smooth for me. My period is more painful than usual but otherwise I think I’m ok… I am really hoping the hormones settle now too!
