Medical abortion

Hey mums. I’ve just started the medical abortion process, I’ve taken the first tablet a couple of hours ago. I’m absolutely terrified is anyone able to chat to me please? And can anyone please give me some gentle experiences as everything I’ve read online has terrified me. Has anyone had an experience that hasn’t resulted in pains as bad as labour etc? Would appreciate anyone to chat to.

@scaredmu thank you so much :) that is reassuring. Sorry you’re still bleeding, hopefully it will settle soon. Yeah I’ve read a lot about MSI which is the only one in my area but judging from what I know the second appointment could be mid next week so I could have the pills by say Friday. But I will just have to wait and see. Waiting for the first consultation on Sunday is a nightmare enough as I just feel weird and as if I’m hiding away from people as I just want to get it done before I can get on with my life if that makes sense?!

I’ve spoken to all of them today and it’s definitely only MSI and they’ve said unfortunately these are just the wait times. :( they don’t seem quite as long as what you mentioned so I’m just going to have to hold out! I feel quite sick now and bloated and just like I’m in this weird limbo. Fingers crossed in a week or two it’ll be sorted x

@Ellemkc i totally understand what you mean about feeling in limbo I found Xmas really hard I hid away as much as I could making excuses why I couldn’t see people etc but Xmas day I had to put a brave face on and I was suffering awfully with morning sickness and exhaustion, after that I again just hid away for a few days in fact I still am as much as poss as I don’t really want to do anything until it’s all over completely. I felt like time stood still while I was waiting for the phone calls and tablets etc but they hopefully won’t make you wait too long and hopefully before long it will all be a distant memory as I know the waiting part is horrible. Just do whatever’s best for you whether that’s hiding away or staying distracted :) x

@scaredmu thats exactly it putting a brave face on. I’ve told a couple people but I have friends I don’t want to tell really and they can tell I’m being quiet and asking what’s up, I’ve just said I’m ill! I can’t wait for this to be over. Thanks for your messages it really helps xx

@Ellemkc bless you yeah I was the same I told a couple of people but a lot of people I don’t know how they would react so I haven’t told and like you I’ve just said I’ve been poorly. Hopefully it’s all over soon for you, going through it does feel like forever but it won’t last forever. You’re welcome keep me updated with how you are etc! X

@scaredmu thank you I will do. How long has it been for you now? It’s just one of those sensitive topics you can’t share or don’t feel you can share with everyone isn’t it. I’m sure nobody would be able to tell, but with the feeling sick most of the day and dizzy, I just want it done before I’m out and about. Thankfully I work from home a lot, and I am really hoping next week I’ll get the pills but we’ll see…

Hello I’m 5 weeks with my first pregnancy - feels strange writing that.
got an appt at bpas for a scan for a medical abortion, got the scan on Wednesday and then a telephone consultation on Thursday how long did it take for you to get the pills? Although it’s what I want I’m struggling with pregnancy symptoms when it’s not the right time for me and I really want it over asap

hi. I went through this just under 3 weeks ago. BPAS were great. I had my phone consultation before the scan and they gave me my pills at the scan appt so I could come away and have everything with me that day.

Hey, I see your post was a few weeks ago now. I'm currently sat with the four tablets between my cheek and gums terrified as to what's to come. I think I've scared myself with all the online things I've been reading. I hope yours went well and your feeling better now x

just take it one step at a time. Mine was no where near the horror stories online. Almost 3 weeks post abortion (waiting now to hit 3 weeks in a few days to do my confirmation test!) and I was up and doing things like cleaning and getting ready for Xmas the next day.

Thankyou so much, so pleased everything went well for you. I'm counting down the hours, I'm on hour 3 with no bleeding but some cramping, I'm going to panic myself until it starts now😔 just about to take the 3rd lot, hopefully it'll start soon. X

@Howdidigethere23 Hi. I was petrified when I went through this but it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as what I had read online. Everyone is different of course but just try and be as prepared as possible. I hope you are ok and I’m just a message away if you would like to ask anything x

Thankyou for being so kind. I'm 2 hours into the 3rd tablets and the cramps are getting quite intense, still not bleeding or passing of anything yet though. Just taken some ibuprofen so hopefully that'll kick in soon! I almost feel like I need to start bleeding to relieve the cramps alittle if that makes sense x

Still nothing yet, cramping on and off and had a few pains in my cervix but that's all. The wait from the pills being posted to now waiting for the bleeding to start has really messed with me, I feel like my life's on hold. Good luck with yours, fingers crossed its quicker for you & you recover quickly x

@Howdidigethere23 I hope you get some relief soon.
I passed mine within an hour of taking the last lot of tablets but my cramping and bleeding went on for just over 2 weeks. Its the waiting and unknown that causes the stress.
i used codeine for pain relief as ibuprofen didn’t help.

Still nothing 😔 no bleeding and the cramps are very mild, I'm starting to panick now x

Light bleeding has just started and mild cramping. I'm hoping this is the start x

@Howdidigethere23 gosh that’s a longer time than I thought it would take for the bleeding to start. I hope you’re doing ok. I think my tablets may arrive today, if not tomorrow, am terrified… keep us posted, everything crossed for you that it goes smoothly x

Quick update!
Rang the clinic and she said it was fine to wait longer than 24 hours, I started bleeding at 4pm, more clotting than bleeding though but pleased things are moving along. Pain is just period type pains, nothing major, the nurse said its normal to not bleed really heavy with me only being a few weeks x

@Howdidigethere23 glad it’s going ok for you. How long was it from taking the 4 tablets to any bleeding starting? My pills arrived yesterday I took the first one and I’ll be taking the next 4 later today around 4pm. I’m so nervous.

Took the 4 at 1pm then the next 2 at 4pm no bleeding until the next morning around 7am, lots of clots but no heavy bleeding. Its still the same now.

i did the pregnancy test the clinic gives you as todays 3 weeks since the first pills for me, and it’s come back negative! So glad

@Confusedandlost1812 you must be so relieved, am so looking forward to being able to do that and have it over with. Had very mild cramps last night after first pill, just hoping it happens quick for me after the second set today. Do you mind me asking were you able to go about your day and work quite soon afterwards? I have tomorrow off and then the weekend but hoping to be in work Monday x
