Hi!

im having an abortion, I rang MSI as soon as I had (3) positives yesterday. They’ve got be booked in for the end of next week. I’m around 6 weeks now, and wanting an at home abortion with pills.

what was everyone’s timelines with MSI? Thank you (Marie Stopes)

Hi, I had an abortion through MSI earlier in the year & this is how it went for me.

Waited a week for the first phone appointment, I was certain of dates so didn't need a scan or anything to confirm. I then had to have a second phone consultation which was 2 days later & after that they posted the pills out to me that same day. They arrived the next day & I took them that evening.

All in all it was about 10 days from first call to receiving the pills.

Sorry you've found yourself in this situation, no matter how certain you are of your choice it's not a nice place to be so sending you a big hug

Thank you for your quick response

just worried about the timeline and Christmas delaying anything. Just want it over with already 😔

You're welcome. Yeah I can only imagine that Christmas just adds to the stress of it all & can fully understand just wanting it done.
Hopefully you won't get the pills too far after Christmas if you've got an appointment next week, it may slow it down a little but hopefully only by a couple of days.

Here if you have any questions

Confusedandlost1812 · 19/12/2022 08:35

Just wanted to update, I rang NUPAS who’ve offered me an earlier appointment than MSI, I believe they only need one call before sending the pills so that’s positive.

will update

Confusedandlost1812 · 19/12/2022 12:23

to update - NUPAS rang as I was on their last min cancellation list for today. All sorted, pills will be coming by post hopefully before Christmas

So did you have an appointment the same day you rang? And then pills will come in how many days?

Confusedandlost1812 · 19/12/2022 19:01

Hi, yes I rang at approx 8am this morning asked for cancellations, the nurse rang approx 12pm today as she had a free gap

nurse said approx Friday this week or Wednesday next week due to Xmas

OP posts:
Jsh125 · 20/12/2022 12:04

This is great to hear that you got a cancellation appointment, hopefully they'll arrive soon and you can move forward. Glad you only needed one call, still can't really remember why I had to have a second call but just slowed everything down.

Hope all goes well when the pills arrive

Confusedandlost1812 · 20/12/2022 12:10

Hello I had an at home abortion. And at the time was also worried about all the horror stories I read. All in all it wasn’t that bad. It was more the mental side of things for me. My advice would be if you have other children make sure they looked after if possible. Get comfortable watch Christmas movies eat comfort food and it will soon be over. Once the pregnancy itself has passed it’s fine it’s just like a really heavy period. Sending you strength and positive thoughts. X

Jsh125 · 20/12/2022 22:52

Just like @Anonymous354 said, really don't panic. I was the same, read all the horror stories & it was nothing close to that. Heavy yes but in no way unmanageable & once the actual pregnancy passed it tailed off quite dramatically. Hopefully you'll have the same experience & just remember that people who have had a straightforward experience are much less likely to share it online than the horror stories.

Fingers crossed it will all be ok for you

Confusedandlost1812 · 21/12/2022 08:49

@Anonymous354 @Jsh125 Thank you both for your kind words. I’m only in my early twenties, this is my first pregnancy..

I was horrified when it was a positive result as I’ve only just got my career post uni, only just bought my first home etc. it’s come at an awful time! I feel so stupid that this accident happened

luckily my partner is so supportive through all this. I haven’t stopped crying much since I found out last week, I’m hoping the pills come today so I can get the process started and the worst over by Xmas

thank you again

just to update this thread really.. pills arrived today, took the first oral pill this afternoon. Only symptom so far is cramping like mild period cramps

OP posts:
heartbroken22 · 22/12/2022 19:42

@Confusedandlost1812 I bet you're relieved they came. The first ones are okay. The second ones I took pain relief before I inserted them down below so i can't remember the pain but I was fine with pain relief. I lied in bed and went to sleep afterwards. Woke up a few hours later needing the toilet and heard 2 plops in the toilet. Luckily didn't see anything as it just looks like when you're on you're period and you go for a wee. I just remember something had lifted over my head and being able to eat something after 8 weeks of hell. You will get hungry. I made sure I went downstairs and got some food and put a box series on to distract me. I hope you and anyone reading doesn't worry. You'll be okay.

Confusedandlost1812 · 22/12/2022 20:17

Thank you @heartbroken22 , I was relieved, I checked all the stuff in the packaging out of nerves, took the pill but was very shaky. Partner was there to reassure me due to my emetophobia and reading online horror stories of vomiting after. I’ve had no nausea at all but just some cramps I’d have before my period. Going to do the second set tomorrow vaginally to hopefully reduce the risk of vomiting.

glad this should be pretty much over by Christmas, well the worst of it should be anyway

thank you for your support again

Feeling silly is such a normal feeling. You don’t have to justify why you are doing it to anyone,as long as you’re happy with the decision that’s all that matters. I felt exactly the same…I had a medical abortion in 2017 so to find myself in the situation again as you say I felt so silly. But sometimes no matter how careful you are…it just happens. Glad the pills arrived for you today. I hope it’s over for you soon xx

Confusedandlost1812 · 22/12/2022 23:39

Thank you @Anonymous354 , definitely not silly!

thankfully not at work until the new year.. so no one will definitely know.

cramps are definitely increasing now 😓

OP posts:
Anonymous354 · 23/12/2022 20:04

How are you getting on? Hope the worst is over for you xx

Confusedandlost1812 · 23/12/2022 20:15

@Anonymous354 over the worst I think. Took the tabs vaginally and was bleeding within 35 mins ish! With intense cramping. Heavily bleeding and passing lots of clots & what I think was the pregnancy, the cramps are basically non existent now but still bleeding heavy, just abit more than my usual heavy period.

partner has been so amazing today and sat with me throughout the process. Luckily we live in a new build so there’s a downstairs toilet.

the cramps were awful at one point though, glad that’s gone!

just hope this has all worked

Confusedandlost1812 · 24/12/2022 07:02

Just wanted to bob on and say I’m feeling amazing this morning. No morning sickness, no cramping. Still bleeding heavily but just like my period would normally.

merry Christmas Eve :)

Anonymous354 · 24/12/2022 07:53

Brilliant. If the symptoms have disappeared that’s a good sign! I’m so glad you got it sorted before Christmas. It was last Christmas I found out and the wait over Christmas was the worst it was unbearable so I always think of people on the same situation. Have a lovely Christmas xxx

Confusedandlost1812 · 24/12/2022 12:43

Thank you @Anonymous354 ❤️ it’s awful over the Christmas period, and I definitely wanted it over by then.

this forum has been so kind and supportive, even though I’m not a mum really.

Hi, just been reading the thread. I'm in the sam position. I've took the tablets vaginally about half hour ago. I'm so scared about what's to come. I don't deal very well with blood at all so I'm dreading if I pass out or anything like that. I've took a codine aswell. You know when your just wishing the next few days would hurry up and be over with, thats me right now xx
