I have the first consultation for a termination tomorrow
What should I expect?
I've been told to have a full bladder (which isn't really difficult atm)
Used first day of last period to get my date of 7 weeks
What options will I be given
So scared

What termination have you gone for medical or surgical x

I haven't gone for option yet
First step is tomorrow
Hence dont know what to expect
Read a lot on here
Medical is painful n bloody
Surgical is less pain n the blood is sucked away
I'm leaning towards surgical by what I have read

Feel like I shouldn't really get a choice as I'm about to do a 'bad' thing

Well here I am
In the waiting room

I had a surgical awake 6 weeks ago
I recommend that xx

Iv had miscarriages . Which I guess is similar to a medical and they ain't nice at all

Surgical was non painful Minimal bleeding
And could look after my children straight after xx

I once had to terminate many many years ago due to an issue (too close to Fallopian tube) and at that stage they offered a pill. Had to go back the second day for the second pill but it was basically like a heavy period.

Full bladder is because they need to check position and age of pregnancy before talking through your options

They will guide you through it.

Had an internal
Dated me at 6 weeks n 6 days
Back in waiting room waiting for heath check (blood pressure n iron levels)

There are pros and cons to both methods. At 6w6d you will be offered both. The medical staff are best placed to offer you non-biased factual advice regarding both methods to help you make your choice.

Whichever you chose, you are not doing a ‘bad’ thing. It is your body, your choice. You can access post termination (and pregnancy choices, pre termination) counselling talk these things through, if you need to. Ask the nurses you are seeing today.

Back at home
Nurses went through both options and I asked if I could have the surgical option
Booked in for Saturday so I only have to endure the rest of today and all of tomorrow in this state that I don't wish to be in
Very surprised at how soon the appointment is
My timeline.
Took test on Monday morning
Phoned for appointment on Tuesday
Appointment on Thursday (today)
Booked in for surgical on Saturday

Now to think of what to take in
Gown
Pads
Extra knickers n leggings
Something to pass time
Anything else?

I hope it all goes smoothly for you on Saturday OP. I had a surgical a few years ago and I was waiting a long time but I'm hoping you won't have to wait too long. Definitely take things to keep you busy while you wait. Take care

Atleast you've been seen quick . I had to wait 3 weeks. Was horrible

But they usually supply the gown
I just brought a sanitary towel and got back into my clothes I went in .

Definitely going ahead with it
It wouldn't be fair to existing kids and also ourselves
We r so desperately looking forward to not being needed by kids so much
Youngest is 12 and very independent already
Eldest is 16 n hardly needs us
We just want to sit tight for a while n enjoy not having to drag kids around with us n make spontaneous trips to places

You’re not doing a bad thing. You’re doing what’s best for yourself and your family and that’s a brave decision to make. No one will judge you here. And I say that as someone who has fertility issues.
Please keep posting if you need to, there are a lot of women here who have been in your position and are able to advise or just listen. And please access counselling - it seems like it’s been a very quick process and you’re possibly on autopilot at the minute so I’m worried that the change of hormones after might hit you hard.

24 hours n I'll b back to normal
Please don't put too much pressure on yourself. I didn't feel normal afterwards even though it was for the right reasons. I felt bereft but also a sense of relief.

Try and do something nice soon and make sure you have a good supply of chocolate (or something you like) at home for later. Consider counselling if you feel you need it.

Arrived just a bit past 9
Damn roadworks
Was waiting for an hour then saw the doc went through the risks and advantages
Asked me if I wanted to continue
Then saw a nurse who took bp as I have a history of high
It's 11:05 and I'm in another waiting room which is just for surgical patients
Hope to be seen by 1pm

Good luck, the waiting is the worst bit.

I feel 'back to normal' the same night and although I felt terrible guilt at what I was doing I knew it was the right thing for me and my family. Although my kids are younger than yours I made the decision for similar reasons, although mine was due to a vasectomy failure so not something I ever thought I'd have to do.
