Pregnant Roll Call.

I don't know if its just me but I'm getting terribly confused as to whose pregnant and when they're due, especially with all the 'when are you due' threads. So I thought it may be nice if there could be a sort of roll call:

  1. How far along are you, when is due date?

  2. Do you know what you are having (boy/girl)? Will you find out?

  3. What kind of labour are you planing and where would you like to give birth?

  4. Any names picked out you would like to share?

I'll go first:

  1. How far along are you, when is due date? 24 Weeks today, yeah a whole lot of viable going on in my belly now! Due 16th October

  2. Do you know what you are having (boy/girl)? Will you find out? Had an amnio, I'm having my second girl.

  3. What kind of labour are you planing and where would you like to give birth? Having a hospital birth, I'm not in the best of health, so I would feel more comfortable. Minimal intervention though, hopefully.

  4. Any names picked out you would like to share? The baby's name has caused major major arguments in our house. In the end I have been out voted, 2 to 1. Both DH and DD are calling the baby Anastacia already, so I have given up. Especially as when I suggest any other name to DD she starts crying. So Anastacia it is. Though I would have prefered Iris. Maybe next time.

Ok, now I'll just watch this thread die on it arse

oxocube - do you mean me? thanks very much. I've kept the announcements low-key really.

Congratulations too to all the people I didn't know were pregnant - didn't know about you, monkey (strange and yet exciting giving birth abroad. In Spain the registration procedure is also long and involved, but not within 3 days! )

And welcome to all the new people!

  1. 16 weeks--due 13th December.
2. Don't know yet, but will probably find out at forthcoming scans. (One scheduled for Tuesday--I'm part of a 'control group' for a study on pre-eclampsia so having extra scans.) 3. Home birth, if possible. 4. A few tossed around, but nothing decided, we keep saying we've still got loads of time.
WideWebWitch · 29/06/2003 15:51

Dahlia, I've been thinking about putting a call out for you actually since I know you were cacking it and had a similar age gap too - 7 years wasn't it? Thanks for the message I may start a thread or contact you off board (but appreciate that you're busy with a week old baby!). This thread is lovely, aren't there a lot of us?

sprout · 30/06/2003 08:07

Great idea for a thread.

  1. 20wks + 3 days; due 11.11
  2. From scan at 18 wks, dr thinks it's a girl (my second). "Big" scan due at 22 wks with different dr, so if he agrees I guess they're right. I'd be very pleased.
  3. Hospital (home births are pretty rare in Belgium and I'd be too scared to try). Possibility of caesarian, but dr said she'd wait til September before making a recommendation.
  4. No idea at the moment. Dh refuses to discuss anything realistic: suggested Friedolf yesterday (apologies to any parents of a Friedolf out there ). As dh is German, and we live in the French-speaking part of Belgium, any name has to be pronounceable for both sides of the family and our local environment - no wonder so many kids we know are called Sarah and Daniel...
Rhubarb · 30/06/2003 17:02

a) 16 weeks, due 10th December.
b) Don't know the sex yet, I will ask at the 20 wk scan but dh doesn't want to know. I'd like another girl, but he'd like a boy and so would our families.
c) Planning a very easy, quick and painless labour at home!
d) No names yet but scaring family with suggestions of Adolphus and Morticia! It will be hard though as dd was around 6 weeks old when we finally decided on a name for her, and we knew she would be a girl months in advance! She has an unusual name so we'd quite like another one to match.

What would Anastacia be shortened to?

Jaybee · 30/06/2003 17:07

I know of two Anastacia's - one gets called Annie and the other Stacey.

Rhubarb · 30/06/2003 17:17

Hmm, I prefer the longer version, that's the trouble with names isn't it? Anyway I've just found out I'm 17 weeks, not 16 - yippee!

pie · 30/06/2003 17:19

So does that mean there will be 2 mumsnet Anastacias???

Hello!

Have come to add my twopeneth.

  1. 20+6wks due 11.11

  2. Not very easy to see at scan, but thinks it's a girl as no obvious boy bits! (Only time will tell!)

  3. Have to have hospital birth as had PPH last time, but would choose this option anyway.

  4. Still deciding on names, gets harder each time!

Best wishes to everyone!

1 Just 11 weeks
2 Don't want to know.. surprise will be lovely
3 Hospital please - epidural sounds good, caesarian sounds even more attractive..
4 Names - aargh. I like Lulu (or possibly LouLou) - you don't think it sounds too much like character from Teletubbies?

tigga · 03/07/2003 16:43

Hi I'm new to the site so go easy on me.
I'm 34weeks with my 6th baby, due on 15th August.
This one's a boy so I'll have 4 boys and 2 girls. He has a name but we're keeping it a secret till he's born.
I've had 1 vaginal hospital birth, 2 V home births and 2 csections. We're hoping for a water birth (VBAC) this time.

pie · 13/08/2003 10:28

Thought I would bump this up so that all newly pregnant lay-dees can post!

This is a good thread.

I am 12 weeks, baby due at the end of February but will be born halfway through March if my two boys are anything to go by!

Think we will try to find out at the scan...but then not tell anyone we know!

Hospital birth, quick preferably.

Am formulating a list of names I like ready to show to dh. He won't entertain talking about names this early on!

karenanne · 13/08/2003 11:15

so many babies.....
1 im 20 weeks due 26th december
2 dont know sex of baby...hospital wont tell us ,i think its a boy
3 having c section so will actually be here about 2 weeks before due
4 at the mo we're going with tyler for a boy and not quite sure on a girls yet .

Elf · 13/08/2003 11:40

Me too!

I'm in my 19th week and due about 9th January.
We áre hoping to find out the sex at the 20 week scan, found it helped us bond with dd1.

Dd1 ended up in caesarian and I must admit I would like one again but feel bad saying it.

Haven´t decided on names yet.

BTW What does VBAC mean please?

WideWebWitch · 13/08/2003 11:43

Elf, VBAC = Vaginal Birth After Caesarian

mumbojumbo · 13/08/2003 11:55

Hi, I'm new to the board so here goes!

  1. I am 28 +1 weeks gone, due on 4th November. I have a ds who is 19 months and will be 23 months when his brother/sister arrives. I always wanted to have kids close together in age. I am 38 and my partner is 45 so again, this was important to us.
  2. Don't know what I'm having, but have been advised that an additional scan at 36 weeks is necessary to check on the size of "number 2". I had SPD during my first pregnancy and a very traumatic labour with ds1 ending in an emergency c-section. He was 8lb 9.5oz. I'm hoping that the delivery with number 2 will be a little less fraught. Having said that I now have the symptoms of SPD again so who knows
  3. I had a birth plan written for ds1 which ended up in the bin! With number 2, I'm planning on being much more flexible, but an epidural is part of my pain relief plan! (despite a fear of needles!) I'd like to think I could cope with an active labour and minimal intervention, however on past experience I have a feeling that another c-section will be on the cards. (Not my choice, but with SPD it may be the sensible option).
  4. No names as yet, although I do quite like Benjamin John if its a boy.
EmmaTMG · 13/08/2003 12:11

Ok here mine.......

Due 21st September, just under 5 weeks to go.

Found out yesterday that there a little brother in there for DS1+2. Wow, what a noisy house it will be with 3 boys! Baby is going to big-ish too as measurement yesterday put him at just over 6lb already.

Have changed to the domino scheme as DS2 was very quick and I didn't want to have to deliver him at home almost alone (paramedics arrived 15 minutes bfore he popped out) although midwife this morning asked if I wanted another homebirth. DH is not keen on the idea so will have to make sure I ring ASAP once labour starts.

Names.......OH MY GOD it's soooooooo hard to choose!

myersthecat · 13/08/2003 12:34

Only just spotted this (mind you I only found mumsnet about a week ago!)

I was due yesterday (no sign of things happening today).

Not sure on sex, waiting to see.

Am hoping to have a natural birth in a midwife led unit (will have to wait and see!!)

My top name for a boy is Ciaran and for a girl Sasha, but have a number of standbyes just in case!!!

Being kicked left right and center now as bump is hungry, so off to lunch!!

LucieB · 13/08/2003 13:03

Here goes:

  1. I am due 17 Feb 2004
  2. Don't know the sex yet but will be finding out in a few weeks as dh is a radiologist!
  3. Had a good birth with ds although labour was long - had an epidural at the end as was exhausted but no tears or stitches. Hoping for the same again, but a little shorter if at all possible!
  4. No names as yet..... Best of luck to everyone!
FatGaijin · 15/08/2003 00:28

Greetings all, first post here...I was in Japan for my first pg and the internet was my lifeline, so v. glad to be back again, even though unexpectedly!!

1)Due possibly early Feb 04, but there are two in there, so they may plot their escape anytime from Christmas...so 16 weeks, just today felt first boot in belly from Right Hand Baby.

2)Don't know what they are yet, hoping to find out at scan in early Sept. Nice thing about multiples is you get lots of lovely scans!
We wanted to know girl or boy with our first baby cos we really felt a lot closer to him when we knew it was Patrick in there (now 2.3yrs).

  1. Now I'm not allowed to have a home birth, but think I would have chosen hospital anyway, with proviso that I can leave as soon as I can walk!! I'd like to have as 'natural' a birth as possible, Patrick, the first, was only 3 and 3/4 hrs with just gas and air, very manageable, but with this one I'm worried that a lot of intervention is going to be inevitable...they aren't identical tho, so cesarian is still avoidable.

4)Still speechless from the 'It's twins!!' shock. But we like old-fashioned names, possibly Catherine Anne for a girl...no ideas for a boy yet! I like Gaelic names, maybe can convince DH to call a boy Oscar.... but I think Patrick is the only one a kid can really get away with!?!
Plus of course if they're BOTH girls or BOTH boys we'll really be stumped!

Was thinking of asking questions about prenatal movements here, but think this thread is too nice to distract folk, so will start a new one if I can.

Best of luck all and looking forward to lots of chat.

bluecow · 18/08/2003 12:32

I'm due April 15. Just coming up for 6 weeks pg.

We found out what we having last time (a ds) and I think we will this time too if the baby is being obliging!

I had a 'back' labour last time which was agony but didn't get an epidural though was screaming for one! Dunno what to do this time other than I plan a hospital birth because they were fab last time and I would feel more at ease there.

bluecow · 18/08/2003 14:26

PS May have to fight dh ref names, espesh if it's a boy. Nothing agreed yet.
