Pregnant Roll Call.

I don't know if its just me but I'm getting terribly confused as to whose pregnant and when they're due, especially with all the 'when are you due' threads. So I thought it may be nice if there could be a sort of roll call:

  1. How far along are you, when is due date?

  2. Do you know what you are having (boy/girl)? Will you find out?

  3. What kind of labour are you planing and where would you like to give birth?

  4. Any names picked out you would like to share?

I'll go first:

  1. How far along are you, when is due date? 24 Weeks today, yeah a whole lot of viable going on in my belly now! Due 16th October

  2. Do you know what you are having (boy/girl)? Will you find out? Had an amnio, I'm having my second girl.

  3. What kind of labour are you planing and where would you like to give birth? Having a hospital birth, I'm not in the best of health, so I would feel more comfortable. Minimal intervention though, hopefully.

  4. Any names picked out you would like to share? The baby's name has caused major major arguments in our house. In the end I have been out voted, 2 to 1. Both DH and DD are calling the baby Anastacia already, so I have given up. Especially as when I suggest any other name to DD she starts crying. So Anastacia it is. Though I would have prefered Iris. Maybe next time.

Ok, now I'll just watch this thread die on it arse

Hello, I'm new to this site, and have been thouroughly exploring it for the past couple of days (done absolutely NO work!)It's GRRREEEEAT!

  1. I'm 29 weeks, due 10th September
  2. Been told we're having a girl, though woke up at 2am with my first "really real" dream last night, imagining the final stages of giving birth... to a boy!!! Has really freaked me out, as have just bought a couple of little dresses (only items so far...!) Although have to admit have been telling everyone that we don't know (just wanted to avoid being given everything in pink!)
  3. Homebirth planned, which I've had to fight for all the way, but looking like builders will still be around in our demolished house...Argh!
  4. Have thought of a couple of girls, but still not sure... but after last night... I really like Milo: thanks for that!

33 weeks due 8th August but last two were both early so hopeful......

Don't know what I'm having (a baby!) but already have one of each so don't mind.

Hoping and Expecting to have homebirth as previous labours both very quick - sp alternative is likley to be a lay-by on the A6. Magical homebirth last time. Horrible hosptial birth before that.

If its a boy - Jude
If its a girl Beatrice (Bea)

Wills - there is a book in the little princess series called I want a sister where she is adamanet its a girl and they end up having a boy. The king tells her they wouldn't want another girl as they already have a very special little princess. DD is admandent I'm having a girl and DS is adament it will be a boy so someone is going to be disappointed (I hope!)

elliott · 27/06/2003 11:30

17 weeks, due 3 Dec
Won't be finding out the sex, have a ds and really don't mind but I'm getting 'girl' vibes.
Thinking of home birth (am I really? how strange the world is!!)
Doing much better on names than last time - really like the boy's name we've chosen, struggle a little with girl's but think we've got one. Will not be revealed to anyone until the deed is done (i.e. name is registered)...and probably never to mumsnet (sorry!)

grommit · 27/06/2003 12:13

1)17 weeks due 4th Dec

  1. Don't know sex yet - will ask at 20 wk scan

  2. hospital birth as natural as possible

4)no names yet - we can't agree

monkey · 27/06/2003 12:14
  1. 20 weeks, 13th November
  1. Don't know, won't find out, horribly curious though. Sure it will be boy. (Have 2 boys already)

  2. Possibly elective c-section, will discuss with doc on Tues.

  3. I love Aidan most, or Peter. Dh won't consider it - 'do you want him to get beaten up?' He can't come up with anything though. Supposed to produce name before birth here, so will be in trouble!

SarahBee · 27/06/2003 14:32
  1. 33 and a bit weeks - due 11th Aug
  1. Wanted to find out, they thought boy but upside down and back to front on scan so keeping bits to himself!

  2. Planning natural as possible, stay at home as long as I can stand it, and then hospital. REALLY sad that visiting hours are very short and very strongly adhered to so will want to run away as soon as I'm allowed, but it's first so dh not confident about idea of home birth - maybe next time!

  3. We've been settled on a boys name for weeks, less sure about girls, but keeping quiet until we've actually seen the baby.

Great thread - lots of you seem to "know" each other quite well, now we'll have info to look up and feel we know something even if we're not as regular users as we'd like to be (still working.....).

yoghurtgirl · 27/06/2003 16:58

13.5 weeks (due New Year's eve; we're hoping it will be 2+ weeks early or 1+week late at least!)

Don't know whether b/g - would like to find out. Maybe at scan next week? Really don't mind at all what we get but spend all day every day visualising it so all info to help build the picture is welcome.

I think hospital birth. Have not discussed births yet but like the idea of labouring in water, if not actually going the distance there.

Names: as yet undecided. I quite like Jolyon for a boy but dh thinks not. Quite like Jade for a girl (NOT because of Big Brother!!)

eefs · 27/06/2003 17:25
  1. 18 wks
  2. no, have no preference but think it's a girl....
  3. hospital with minimum inturruption hopefully
  4. lot's of names but will wait until the baby is born to see which suit
susanmt · 27/06/2003 20:37
  1. I'm 16 weeks on Monday coming. Due 13th December, but as both of mine have been early (4 days and 10 days) I'm hoping for the start of the month! If not, I will be induced on my due date due to health problems (kidneys)
  1. I don't know and I dont want to find out. But given that I am very sick this time like I was with dd but wasn't with ds, I have a sneaking suspicion that its another girl. Watch me be proved wrong!

  2. I'm hoping for a fairly laid back labour. I had a nasty OP ('back' labour with dd, which ended up in a ventouse, and she was 9lb12. I then had a pretty much textbook labour with ds, he was only 9lb3 though!! I am a bit worried at how big this one will be!!!! I'll be having th baby in hospital. I'd love a home birth but with the painkillers I have to have for my kidney stones there is a chance that the baby could need oxygen at birth so I'd rather be in hospital, just to be on the safe side.

  3. We're swithering! We like Matthew for a boy, but have no ideas for a boys middle name - would like it to be Celtic/Irish if possible. Girls is more tricky. Maybe Rachel, or Rhona (my fave) or Madeline (dh's fave). Might just have to wait until we meet the little 'un to see what suits.

There you go.

susanmt · 27/06/2003 20:45

monkey - we have an Aidan, and after all the olds in the family going 'wot???' and dh's Northern Irish Protestant Granny almost having a heart attack and not saying the name until he was a week old, everyone likes it. He's just learned to say it himself too (16 months!)

KMS · 27/06/2003 22:55

Monkey- where in the world do you have to give a name before the birth? We know a Haydn? (the welsh version)

zebra · 27/06/2003 23:36

I WANNA BE IN THIS THREAD! i WANNA BELONG TO THIS THREAD!!!

Damnit. I'm going to go try and have a birth control failure, now.

woodge · 28/06/2003 12:36

26 weeks, due 1st Oct
Don't know and want a surprise (have a dd already and suspect it's another)
Homebirth but a lot quicker than last time and without the ambulance to hospital afterwards
I've got lots of lovely names, dh not keen on any of them - but his suggestions are ridiculous!

monkey · 28/06/2003 12:40

susanmt - sait it before, but l'm so jealous you have an Aidan! I'd even settle for Adrian, but it's not happening. boo hoo.

kms - we're in Switzerland. You can only choose name from approved list, to avoid rediculous things, but foreigners exempt as long as can prove it's a 'proper' name in their country apparently!

You're supposed to fill in a form with 3 boys & 3 girls names (I guess in case you have surprise triplets?) before the birth, but have a maximum of 3 days after to register it - not like the 6 weeks in the UK. With ds2, born here, we hadn't decided, they were very cross and we decided pretty sharpish - while they were looking for someone to sew me up - that seemed to placate them. All the official stuff is done in the hospital.

2under2 · 28/06/2003 14:59

19 weeks, due late Nov. with a boy

  • planning on a Domino delivery - would love a home birth again but had a post partum haemmorhage after dd1 and severe shock after dd2, both of which aren't much fun and need to be dealt with in hospital. At least it'll be Domino though, I'm lucky as it's not usually offered here but dd2 was a precipitous birth and they're worried about me having this one by the side of the dual carriageway.
dino55 · 28/06/2003 17:26

Monkey, just out of intrest what is/are your child/childrens names. would love to know as you said they have to be approved from a list.

ANGELMOTHER · 28/06/2003 17:32

Susanmt why not Erin for a girl, it's certainly Irish and quite unusual......

oxocube · 28/06/2003 21:20

monkey, we had dd in Switzerland and the 'approved names' thing seems to go out of the window if you're foreign, although the registration within 3 days is pretty fixed!! We certainly weren't asked for any shortlist of names and there was no questioning the names we did choose for dd, although they were acceptable both in English and French (but the French pronunciation sounded sooo much sexier )

oxocube · 28/06/2003 21:21

Lucy, Huge congrats!!! Did I miss an announcement?

Dahlia · 29/06/2003 00:05

Lovely thread! I shouldn't be here really - dd2 is a week old today, (and completely yummy) but just wanted to say to wickedwaterwitch, please don't be scared, I too was totally cacking it and was seriously frightened about giving birth for a second time and it turned out to be absolutely fantastic. (And very quick).

susanmt · 29/06/2003 01:17

Angelmother, we can't do Erin as we already have a Katherine and they are a bit similar. In fact we were going to call her Erin as a short form, but it diesn't really suit her - she's always just been Katherine, although some of her nursery friends call her Kathy, which I think might stick. Its an Irish-y boys name we're looking for, and we already have an Aidan. Thanks for the suggestion.

chatee · 29/06/2003 08:32

So settled on Daniel so dh could sing "Danny boy" but have never had to use it yet.....
