bbc3 underage and pregnant

does any1 watch this underage n pregnant on bbc 3??i was worryin bout how i'l cope being just 23, but this programme is unreal!it always seems 2 b the gran that does everything!and the dad doesnt seem 2 do much either!

I try to watch it but DH hates it and likes to watch Holby.
TBH, the last one I saw riled us both, so maybe better we dont! lol

I'm watching it just now and feeling very judgy! (I'm 27 and keep worrying about how I'll cope with my baby - seeing 14 and 15 year olds pregnant is quite scary!)

it is a bit unreal isnt it!!didnt no bout sex when i was 14!seems 2 b a bit of a trend these days. bump = fashion accessory!!

never had a baby b4, all a bit scary. will i no how 2 change a nappy??how 2bath the baby?wot if baby doesnt like me?? very crazy time!

I know 27 isn't young, but feels it when all my pg friends are in their mid-thirties!

just saw the 57 hour labour - poor girl, how awful. wouldn't wish that on anyone!

just seems that on this programme its very "cool" 2 get pregnant-then when baby is born its like they dont really wanna do anything. im not tryin 2 b judgemental- i cant imagine gettin pregnant that young- im scared enough now!

think it depends on the girl on the programme - a couple of weeks ago, there was a girl who was really good with her baby, and her boyfriend was great too. they were very clear that it was a total accident, but her sister ended up pregnant which seemed less accidental! then there are some who are totally limp and let their mothers take over completely (like the second girl tonight).

I'm excited about my labour too - hope it's this week sometime (am 40+3 now)!

i turned 21 10 days after my eldest daughter was born

hi 23 is not young. i was pregnant at 16 and my eldest born just after I turned 17. I have always been a great mum even though I was young. I'm now 23 and expecting my fourth baby. I know I'm totally crazy . I feel as if I'm about 30 though. Grown up before my time. Good luck with your babies you will be fine xxxx

Age has got nothing to do with whether you'll be a good parent, really - comes down to how you are as an individual, and as a family.

while watching this program i was so shocked at the amount of children still in school having babies!!!! they are to young to work, claim benefits and sign for prescriptions!
But the fact is the program has not run out of young people putting their stories out there!
Its a shame they couldnt speak to others saying yeh i got pregnant and im coping but dont do it please!

I have a 15 year old and am 22 weeks pregnant and i tell her everyting and she is totally great with kids but says mum no way i want to get married and enjoy life before i have children.

I am not saying you have no life but its hard at times, why go through it all while not even finished school!

Im not condemning them or their parent/s, but having a child sexual active at that age there is a big chance they will get pregnant and then who really is dealing with the baby the girls mum and dad because they still want to hang with their friends and play ps3 and wii. sometimes its not happy ever after! babies having babies!

That's not particularly fair - did you never get friends or family members to look after your child(ren) so you could go out and see your friend? The individuals they've chosen don't nessicarily resprest "us" as a whole. I intend to see my friend occassionally - but I also intend to bring my child up.

as this is a forum i had my say if you feel my comments are unfair that's life!!!!!!
i say what i see as a parent who has a child of the age of some of those in that program!
of course my parent has babysat my child and it was a warm welcome and they enjoyed the time together im not talking about once and awhile im talking about constant help and paying for everything because the mum is not of an age to claim or work!!!!!!

if you fall into that yourself then im sure your dealing with it, but as i said its not all happy ever after when the filming stops we don't see the aftermath!good or bad!
i would not be a good parent to MY daughter if i never discussed that having sex can lead to having a child and i know SHE is not ready for that!

My Personal opinion no judgement, i dont know these people but as they are on the tv we as the audience have a say,to agree or not!

15 is very young to have a child and i will do my very best to make sure that my daughters are fully aware as soon as they are sexually active ((shudders)) that they must be safe.

i truly believe its down to the parenting

Oh i agree with that. My parents always made me aware, everything was very open, so i just wanted you and others to know it isn't always a case of bad parenting.

Well quite... But I think they're just sat there shrugging because they've come to terms with the fact that their daughter is pregnant, and there is no point dwelling on what happened / what they could have done. My parents kind of just shrug it off now - I'm due in just over seven weeks. At first I got the "You bloody idiot!", then ten seconds later I got huge hugs, and its stayed in hug mode ever since. My parents were - and are - very open and very easy to talk to about sex, and pretty much everything really! But I still made a mistake - and I'm supposed to be "excpetionally bright"

Wouldn't change things now.

There is far more to it than being mentally prepared. Finacial stability or the ability to provide. Housing, emotional stability, a father's support and input.

You can be mentally prepared all you like, but nothing will prepare you for colic, or a child on the autistic spectrum, or a relationship break-up as a consequence of finding new baby life so hard.

To try and be prepared is good, but you never know until you're doing it.

I'm 24 now and pregnant with my fourth, and I'm still learning it all

But on the other hand, every new mother, and indeed parent, will have to go through the learning process, regardless of age.
