Thats great

Tee2072 · 24/01/2009 08:09

Hey guys, question.

I've put on no weight over the last two weeks. I know the baby must be doing okay, since I feel lots of wiggles. But I am worried its not getting any bigger or something!

Do you think it could be because I am on such a controlled diet? I have my 20 week scan next Tuesday week, but I am wondering if I should call the clinic next week instead? Thoughts?

iris66 · 24/01/2009 20:28

Hi Tee - just saw your question and had to reply. I lost a dress size with each of my last 2 pgs (both GD - both boys)I was just all bump! They were very wriggly too but I just never seemed to gain much weight. I piled on loads with my first (DD) and this one seems to be going the same way (maybe another DD? - sugars are fine so far - passed an early GTT and going for another in 6 weeks or so) So long as LO's growing I wouldn't worry but speak to your MW if it's bothering you. HTH

SweetBROODY · 25/01/2009 13:26

Tee I have been the same and have been told not to worry - If you are really worried then ring in.. but generally I have been told that the baby will do what it needs to do... and take what it needs...

MKG · 28/01/2009 14:34

Hi all--Just an update.

I had my 34 week checkup with the midwife who said I was controlling my sugars really well. Then I had an ultrasound which shows baby is estimated at 5 lbs 3 oz and in the 41%, so all in all am doing really well, and they don't believe that the baby is going to be extremely big.

SweetBROODY · 28/01/2009 14:39

Thats great MKG I must admit I am concerned on par with Tee because I still havent put any weight on.. almost 23 weeks gone as well...

Isnt that 5.5 months!?

MKG · 28/01/2009 14:41

About that. I've only put on 10 pounds total and no one seems concerns. Most of which has been between 20 weeks and now. I actually haven't gained any weight in about 5 weeks though.

Tee2072 · 28/01/2009 14:53

That's fantastic MKG.

Well, I think I've put weight on now! The trousers I am wearing today were slipping down a bit last week and now they certainly are not! I think I need to step on the scale!

SweetBROODY · 28/01/2009 16:04

Tee thats great... my DH thinks I am putting on weight but nobobosy else who see's me on the road seems to be able to tell... not even ppl I know!

:S Maybe I've got your worry bug today.. I really hope I do put some on!

My insulin has incresed to 3 times what it used to be so a little concerned aboutt that... but I hope its eventually ok... :S

Tee2072 · 21/02/2009 16:14

Resurrecting this thread...

I just received a letter saying I have an appointment on 6th March for a foetal heart monitoring scan. Could this be diabetes related? My OB/Endo has said nothing about this.

I do see OB on 3rd March, so I will ask then, but just wondering if any of you knew anything about it!!

paddyclamp · 22/02/2009 22:39

I'm type 1 and had heart scans with both of mine Tee

SweetBROODY · 23/02/2009 11:21

Tee its the scans I was telling you I was worried about... it is Diabetes related..

I have had 2 one at 16 weeks and one at 25. Both for the baby's heart. it was at UCLH which was a fantastic experience as the doctors and equipment were exceptional.

Good luck for yours - I am sure it will go well..

Tee2072 · 24/02/2009 15:27

Thanks paddy and sweetbroody. I thought it might have something to do with the diabetes. Just would have been nice if OB had mentioned it!

iris66 · 09/03/2009 19:29

hi there - not been on for ages but wanted to share the news that I appear to have complately normal sugar levels with this pg after 2 GD pregnancies (one diet controlled, the next was insulin). HBA1c was 4.4 . The consultant seemed a bit confused but is going to sign me off in 8 weeks after final bloods (fingers crossed!) Yay! there's obviously hope for everyone who has GD then eh - you wont necessarily get it next pg!
good luck to everyone still controlling sugars.x

Tee2072 · 10/03/2009 11:42

Excellent news iris!!

I've been meaning to pop on here and mention that the baby had its heart scanned on Friday and everything is fine!

15 more weeks!! YIPPPEE!!!

SweetBROODY · 10/03/2009 11:49

Tee I am so glad for you - I'm the same and counting weeks!

only a few more before I go on leave....

SweetBROODY · 10/03/2009 11:49

Iris - how did you manage that?

iris66 · 13/03/2009 10:26

Tee that's fab news - 15 weeks isn't long is it (OMG just realised that's about all I have to do too!!!! )

Sweetbroody - not entirely sure how it happened but I did take a 2 month course of "digestive enzymes" as recommended by my homeopath "to give my pancreas a rest", between pregnancies so maybe that helped?? it could all be psychosomatic/placebo effect - but if it keeps me away from inductions and drips thats fine by me That said, i'm still testing sugars every day and paranoid about them going up

SweetBROODY · 13/03/2009 14:38

You'll have to give me the number for your homeopath! If it works so well... Not keen to be stuck with the whole Diabetes thing to be honest!

Catitainahatita · 14/03/2009 04:11

Hello Ladies,
May I join you? I'm type one diabetic since 2004; using novorapid and levermir daily. I've had one sucessful pregnancy which ended very badly (but with a gorgeous DS!) when my labour provoked extreme high glucose that couldn´t be controlled and forced a ECS.
I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant with no.2 and suffering with ms and tiredness. Also had a nasty shock at my scan (I live in Mexico and as a high risk pregnancy am scannd every month)., when due to extreme bloating (from wind) they had trouble locating the egg sac. All seems well, but am extremely nervous.

On the other hand, I have lots of experience of being pregnant and diabetic and would be happy to share your stories and give advice/sympathy if asked. In fact I was thinking about starting a thread on the topic and then found yours!

What do you say?

Tee2072 · 14/03/2009 08:10

Hi Catitainahatita! Glad to have you.

As you can see, its sort of a slow thread, but we all pop in from time to time when we need advice/encouragement.

I myself have been type II for nearly 3 years which was controlled by diet until I became pregnant. Now I take Novorapid and Levemir as well!

I don't personally have any questions, but I would love to see this thread continue to be available if anyone else ever does!

Catitainahatita · 14/03/2009 16:27

Thanks for the welcome. I shall keeo my eye the thread and post when and if.

Congrats on the pregnancy. Not long to go now!

iris66 · 17/03/2009 16:20

Sweetbroody - I think any homeopath would probaly be able to get them for you if they felt you needed them.

I think i may have opened my mouth too soon though & jinxed myself My sugar was 9.1 after lunch But then I did have fish & chips followed by a hot crossed bun (buttered & with jam ) - the phrase "not helping yourself" applies I think back to the brown rice & sweet potato for a while I think.

iris66 · 17/03/2009 16:23

Catitainahatita - sorry, forgot to add...welcome (I'm sort of in denial about my semi/pre diabetic state) I feel like I should go to some AA type group " hi I'm iris and I'm not very good at controlling my sugar"

forevermore · 17/03/2009 19:26

hi i am 14 weeks today and was diagnosed with GD last time at 30 weeks although probably had it earlier on. My question is when should i test or hen is it likely to kick in again second time round if at all. I have lost a lot of weight before getting pregnant and had a nromal GTT last summer as I am still being monitored due to family history and last PG.
