How big were you at 4 months pregnant???

I put on A LOT of weight very quickly but I did trough quite a bit. I also retained a lot of water. But I had a definate bump bu 4 months.

We're getting married next July but have decided to start trying for a baby next Feb/March. So I could potentially be 4 months pregnant by the wedding. Obviously that's very unlikely and it usually takes longer to concieve but it took no time at all last time.

So would I fit in my wedding dress at 4 months pregnant?

My specific question is how big were you at 4 months?

Not big at all! No bump to speak of.

onepieceoflollipop · 21/08/2008 20:30

With dd1 I had hyperemesis and as a consequence was very slim.

With dd2 I would estimate that at 4 months I was approximately 1 dress size bigger, but boobs were significantly larger.

CatIsSleepy · 21/08/2008 20:31

but everyone varies so much...
i would go by how you were last time, but maybe bank on being a little bigger
am 10 weeks and showing already second time around
yikes

MarkStretch · 21/08/2008 20:31

I am 4 months now and I am huge- embarassingly so! I am feeling quite self conscious.

I would say if you had a bump before you are more likely to again and you wouldn't want to feel uncomfortable on your big day.

hf128219 · 21/08/2008 20:33

Or wait until after the wedding to start trying?

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 20:34

prob 1-2 dress sizes up

oooggs · 21/08/2008 20:35

Hi Markstrtch >>>>>>

I'm 4 mths now and huge, from experience (I know this isn't the case for everyone) but at 4 mths now I am bigger than with my 2/3 baby and when carrying 2/3 I was bigger at 4 mths than I was with my first baby

If that makes any sense at all (I am pregnant remember)

2/3 were twins

babyOcho · 21/08/2008 20:36

not very big at all. sorry

G2B · 21/08/2008 20:38

Well we were reading the other day that if you start trying over one year after having your baby then you might not be able to concieve again. How true is that?

Hi oooggs!

oofff.

oooggs · 21/08/2008 20:45

I am sat here in dhs tracksuit bottoms I feel so uncomfortably fat pregnant (17 weeks tomorrow)

theyoungvisiter · 21/08/2008 20:48

First baby - not big at all. Small bump if you knew to look for it.

Second baby - HUGE - people standing up for me on the tube, someone at work asked me if I was stopping work soon!

Not sure if my experience is universal but friends seemed to experience the same thing - but I'd guess that unless you do a lot of exercise between pgs, once your tummy muscles are knackered there is nothing to stop the bump showing with your 2nd pg.

Ok, I'm not an expert but I woudl say Complete bollocks!! Obviously the older you are, the longer it's likely to take you to conceive but trying within a year is not a magic formula - you will face basically teh same stats when your first baby is 11 months old as when they are 16 months old. Anyway we didn't start trying again until DS was over 18 months old and didn't have any trouble.

CatIsSleepy · 21/08/2008 20:49

G2B where on earth did you hear that?

biglips · 21/08/2008 20:52

AT 4 months pg with my first i was tiny - ended up with a 9lb 1oz baby!

At 4 months pg with my second i was huge, i looked like 6 months gone...now im 37 weeks pg and i look smaller than when i was carrying my first. So who knows how big this baby is gonna be!.

HairyToe · 21/08/2008 20:52

Didn't show at all with DD1 at 4months. DD2 slightly thickened waist. No problem fitting into normal dress size.

What style dress do you want? Empire style dress (where the waist is just under your bust?) would be a safe bet if you did have a but of a bump

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 20:57

I think the 'recommended' gapo between pgs is 18 mo to 2 years, to allow your body to recover

but I wouldn't take any notice of 'ideal' periods ttc, it may take a long time or no time at all

hester · 21/08/2008 20:59

I was vast. Got my first seat on the tube at 13 weeks...

But by about seven months everyone else had caught up with me, and I wasn't particularly big by the end.

It varies so much, doesn't it?

I just looked like i'd had a big meal and my tummy was swollen with food. I only started to show at 6 months and then i just grew HUGE overnight.

G2B · 21/08/2008 21:19

CatIsSleepy- I think someone actually mentioned it to us, and then it came up on MN the other day in the TTc threads and I read it and panicked a bit lol.

I've already ordered my dress and it's one you tie all the way up the back- so crushed into it, really.

A bump would not fit.

Didn't realise you get bigger quicker second time round. I have no hope then because I was big so quickly first time around! by the end my bump was so big I've looked back at pictures in absolute disbelief- I've never seen anyone get a bump as big as mine was!

I was smaller at four months with both of pregnancies than I was pre-pregnancy, as I had hyperemesis each time and at four months had just come out of hospital. I wouldn't wish that on you though! I'd probably say to plan your wedding dress a size larger than you normally are; you can always get it altered if you put on less weight than before.

hellymelly · 21/08/2008 21:34

I was huge, really obviously pregnant first time and even bigger the second.

mslucy · 21/08/2008 22:03

I looked massive with ds1 and look massive now at 16 weeks.

but then I am short and make big boys.

hairymcleary · 22/08/2008 02:02

I'm 16 weeks now and just starting to grow out of my normal clothes... think this is about the same as last time. Depending on what I wear I either just look fat or a little pregnant!
Re the amount of time it takes to conceive- both times it has been within the first month of trying, although I was convinced it was going to take longer the second time for some reason!
