How big were you at 4 months pregnant???

I put on A LOT of weight very quickly but I did trough quite a bit. I also retained a lot of water. But I had a definate bump bu 4 months.

We're getting married next July but have decided to start trying for a baby next Feb/March. So I could potentially be 4 months pregnant by the wedding. Obviously that's very unlikely and it usually takes longer to concieve but it took no time at all last time.

So would I fit in my wedding dress at 4 months pregnant?

My specific question is how big were you at 4 months?

i am pregnant with 2nd i am huge @ 5 months

GreenMonkies · 22/08/2008 08:48

I didn't look pregnant untilabout 20 weeks first time around, got a little thicker around the middle, and my boobs were up by 4 cup sizes (I kid you not!) but that was all.

Second time around I looked 20 weeks by the time I was 14 weeks! I got a big pot belly really fast, it was as if my body said "Oh, we're pregnant again, we can let those muscles go again" and out it popped! We had to start telling people as it was obvious!

dinkystinky · 22/08/2008 09:08

Hi Markstretch, Oogs and MsLucy!

First baby - popped out suddenly at 16 weeks.

Second baby - absolutely huge by 14 weeks (look about 5 months gone, but in a fat kind of way rather than cute bump kind of way).

Both pregnancies have been v similar and have been exercising in both (infact more so in pregnancy no 2), so think is all a case of your body responding to being pregnant much quicker second time round.

Just resurrected this old thread to thank all the 'huge' 16 weekers who have reassured me. I have suddenly developed an enormous bump at 17 weeks, probably similar to what I was at 27 weeks with dd 1!! Starting to imagine myself like the picture of the octuplet woman and nearly having a panic attack. But it sounds like its quite common second time round. Gulp

ChocFudgeCake · 16/02/2009 22:14

If you were big, better change dress style or dates for trying

Nath · 19/02/2009 06:07

First baby didn't have a proper bump until about 20 weeks......this time I have a large bump (obviously pregnant) and am only 19 weeks.......
I was in maternity jeans this time at 10 weeks, and was tiny last time!

Longtalljosie · 19/02/2009 07:42

"Well we were reading the other day that if you start trying over one year after having your baby then you might not be able to concieve again. How true is that?"

If that really were true, siblings would usually be 21 months apart or less, and clearly that's not overwhelmingly the case. If you think about it, your body bore with you not getting pregnant from the month you started your first period until you finally got around to it - probably well over a decade later. It's certainly not going to throw all its toys out of the cot if you don't crack on again within a year. Please don't feel you have to be pregnant on your wedding day on that account. Have a word with your doctor if you're really concerned, am sure s/he will put your mind at ease.

i was huge!! but i am only 5ft tall so i looked alot bigger everyones bump size should measure about the same in cms as what you are in weeks from about 26 weeks and before that alot of women dont really show but i definately was i think if you dont mind having abit of a bump on your wedding piks then go 4 it however if you want to fit into a tght dress id think twice lol. also your morning sickness may not have worn off then so you might feel crappy have sore boobs and crappy skin ... xx

duchesse · 23/02/2009 22:15

I'm 15 weeks at the moment and starting to have a visible tummy without clothes on, but am still wearing my normal clothes (just investigating sloppier trousers now). I just sometimes have to unbutton my trousers towards the end of the day.

SillyCalamari · 23/02/2009 23:39

i got married at almost 16 weeks when only a few close family members and friends knew, as the plan was to announce it in the speeches.
I only just got away with fitting in my wedding dress (I could see the slight pulls around the tummy even if others can't!) and that's with being a first timer - plus I'm (still) much smaller than a lot of the other people around me (now 36 weeks).
So I'd say that if you were to fall pregnant straight away, expect to show - and be careful about your choice of dress, make sure there's room for alterations, the wedding dress company know up-front & can amend the week before if needs be - that's what I did anyway. Better still, why don't you wait another month til you start trying?
Good luck!

trixymalixy · 23/02/2009 23:59

I'm 17 weeks and only just starting to show and this is baby no 2.

TeenyTinyToria · 24/02/2009 00:06

Varies hugely, but I am 22 weeks with my second child, and just did a commercial shoot wearing size 10 dungarees (admittedly tight, but I got them buttoned!).

However, I know people at a similar stage who have been in full maternity gear, and also those who don't have a bump at all.

Hard to predict I'm afraid!

Jacksmama · 24/02/2009 02:28

20 week scan, ran into OB nurse in hosp who asked me what we were doing there... she thought we were seeing the infertility specialist

Wee bump started to show the week after.

MrsMattie · 24/02/2009 08:58

1st pregnancy - tiny bump, could have passed as a bit porky rather than pregnant.

2nd pregnancy - definitely couldn't hide the fact I was pregnant!

neolara · 24/02/2009 11:53

!st pregnancy no-one asked if I was pregnant until I was 23 weeks. Second pregnancy, was asked on 4 different occasions if I was pregnant at 15 weeks. I think you are likely to have a pregnancy tummy a lot earlier with your second than your first.

Nekabu · 24/02/2009 12:00

I've put on 13lbs and it's gone on all around my middle ... It's my first pregnancy but I'm managing to cover it up OK still. Those who have noticed probably just think I'm getting a bit of a porker.

jordans · 11/03/2015 23:36

I'm 16wks (4 months) and I have absolutely nothing yet :( my stomachs still completely flat - my boobs have got huuge though!!

Turquoiseblue · 12/03/2015 08:17

DS 1 I remember wearing a tiny (size 8) Sill dress to a wedding of friends at 20 weeks

Dd - maternity jeans at 12 weeks GrinGrinGrinGrin

HazleNutt · 12/03/2015 08:41

This thread is from 2008, OP has hopefully had both a baby and wedding by now..

Missymum6 · 12/03/2015 08:42

With my first i didn't really show untill around 6 months, I'm currently 16 weeks and Have a bump! I think I depends on person to person but I do remember waking up one morning with my first and my bump had just appeared!! Lol

hopefull2424 · 12/03/2015 09:38

I'm 5 months with dc3 and still in my normal clothes. No bump really just look a bit more plump than normal :)

sianihedgehog · 12/03/2015 10:21

Too big around the middle for any of my normal clothes, but not particularly pregnant looking. Could still get into clothes a size or two up, but looked frankly awful, like I was super bloated and had no waist. Worst stage for self image. For reference, I'm a size 10/12 with a muscular build and just under 5 foot tall.

The enormous bump that suddenly popped out at 17 weeks was a huge relief!

Lweji · 12/03/2015 10:33

As it would be your second, I wouldn't risk it. Either get a dress that allows for a belly, (A line type with a very high waist), or just start trying a bit later.
I'm sure you could hold it off for 2 or 3 months. :)

Lweji · 12/03/2015 10:34

Damn it.
Just seen it's a zombie thread!

Can't people notice it when they resurrect zombie threads? Angry

blowinahoolie · 12/03/2015 11:08

I have a very noticeable bump at 4 months, yes, it's quite big now!
