OP, my medical abortion wasn’t actually anymore painful than my period. It’s easy to find some horrors stories online simply because it’s generally only those women who are more likely to post their experiences.

LimbOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheHoleTheHoleInTheGround · 18/05/2026 19:21

I had an abortion at about the same gestation.

It was fine, mildly uncomfortable, but no worse than a heavy period.

People tend not to post when things have gone OK, as they don't really need advice, so that's why it's mostly horror stories you hear.

I was back at work the next day, and managed to parent throughout as I took the pills at home. I stocked up on painkillers just in case, but managed fine with the odd paracetamol.

I wish you all the best op, it's often not an easy choice 💐

I've reported that poster also.

I've had medical management for TFMR OP. Some things to keep in mind:

-Once the meds are inserted try to lay down for an hour or so. When you go to the loo, you might see a white/pinky paste or even part or a whole tablet come out- it will still work.
-The meds can make you feel nauseous, give you diarrhoea and a high fever. These are common side effects, not signs of an allergic reaction. My face went beetroot red and I felt like I was burning up. Paracetamol will reduce your fever and help with pain.
-Walking and moving around can help with pain

Wishing you all the best and happy to answer any questions you have Flowers

Someone I know had a medical abortion at about this gestation and she was fine, like a heavy period and didn't see anything awful. It was a good decision for her and it sounds like it is for you and I truly wish you all the very best x

Have you nothing better to do?

Appropriate username though, your thoughts and opinions on this topic really don't matter.

If you don't want an abortion don't get one.

Leave OP alone.

ChasingRainbow5 · 18/05/2026 20:04

I didn’t see the deleted comments but if you did, OP, please ignore them. You’re making the right decision for you and your family. I’ve only had a surgical termination but have heard that medical isn’t too bad, as others have said. Wishing you all the best x

ShutupLwren · 18/05/2026 20:25

@Jenn34 you’ll be absolutely fine. You’ll have pains that are inbetween heavy period pain and mild contractions. Nothing usually paracetamol can’t ease. My friend had one recently and her dad gave her some cocodamol (she was 6 weeks also) but she said she was ok with just paracetamol.
But you’re going to be okay! I’m sorry you’re in this situation but you’re doing the best thing for you and your family. It’s a shitty time for you, be lovely to yourself. Sending you love x

Batties · 18/05/2026 21:02

OP, ignore idontmatter123. A person who can say the things she did is not a person who is worth listening to, she is just clueless. Only you know what the right thing to do for you is.

Jenn34 · 19/05/2026 11:09

Thanks so much to everyone for your kind words, feeling a little better i didnt see what was written thankfully and im glad as didnt sound very nice by everyones replies

It's very very early. I think it will be fine.,

Batties · 19/05/2026 15:37

I’m glad you’re feeling a little better. There are many women on here who know what you’re going through at the moment and you’ll find it a really supportive place if you want to talk 💐

(Ignore the odd fool who pops up and says nasty things, probably because they’re so unhappy with their own lives).

Another one here to show support. I imagine it'll be in the information you get but I took paracetamol and ibuprofen early on and just kept topped up and didn't find the pain too bad.
Nothing scary happened or was seen, its really very early. Sending you lots of love x
