I think a lots of mums stop at 4 because of having 2 girls and 2 boys, so can someone continue to have 5th kid after 4 kids that are 2 girls and 2 boys were born?

Are you serious? How can you possibly give them all equal amounts of attention?

Well they have 😊 they are fantastic kids. Plus come from a big family.

FluffOffFFS · 04/05/2026 19:56

I know of the following:

GBBBBG (born in the eighties)
GG(deceased)BBG (born in the nineties)
GGGG (primary and below now)
BGGBB (primary and below now)
My dad is one of 5 boys (boomer generation)
I had a friend whose parents had 2 girls and 3 boys and wanted a girl to balance things out. They got BB twins.

Have to say this OP sounds a bit weird. Can't put my finger on why

How do you calculate whether you’re giving your children “equal amounts of attention”? There are shit parents who are shit parents regardless of how many children they have and the same goes for good parents

suggestusernamepls · 04/05/2026 21:58

You give them lots of individual and group attention by not working full time (for one partner anyway). They probably get more attention than families with two kids who have both parents working full time. Be physically there, give them attention.

My parents had two and my lot get far more attention and affection than I ever got.

How would you afford it though? Either nursery fees for 5 or a family of 7 on one persons wage? Plus a house full of kids then teens…seems mad to me.

Griselinia · 04/05/2026 22:04

You'd obviously have to go for six in this case

Well educated, good salary. No nursery. You take them to parent run preschool options instead. Mine went to a co-op.

The only family I know with five children (who are currently children so no grandmas from years ago) are ggggb now that you mention it.

JuliettaCaeser · 04/05/2026 22:20

Well you have more stamina than me. The thought of going through all those stages 5 times 🙈. 5 lots of no sleep / biff and kipper / 13 year old friendship dramas / GCSEs / learning to drive/ job searches / worry about their future. You must absolutely love child care! I would not have it in me personally. There’s a reason hardly anyone does this!

Tbf im assuming it will only be one or two children in nursery at a time. Or dad being the sole bread winner for a few years

JuliettaCaeser · 04/05/2026 22:27

Also now they struggle to
leave home due to the economy. So the older ones pushing off to make room for younger ones won’t be so much of a thing.

comoatoupeira · 04/05/2026 22:30

It’s a grammar thing. She means “does anybody have…?”
Lots of people mistakenly use this construction when English isn’t their first language.

Not a problem if they all have their own room to start with. Doable with 4-5, probably not with 10.

Five kids+ parents = 6 rooms. Probably well over a million pounds in most parts of the country

Oh no I stand corrected according to rightmove in my average town you can get a six bed for “only” 600k.

We moved to a part of the country where it wasn't so expensive when the first two were very young. It seemed sensible for future. Bought five bedrooms, built on one.
