complete hi-jack but expat were you not having a scan at some point? how did you get on?

sorry OP, very rude of me

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:05

friday's the big day! when it's confirmed that DC3 is another girl .

dizzydixies · 10/06/2008 20:12

lol - will check in on you at the weekend to see how you get on

remember your cool bags from markies

EBenes · 10/06/2008 20:12

I've had mega cravings for Bitter Lemon and for about a week drank a litre a day. Then read that babies exposed in the uterus to quinine were born with a proper quinine addiction and all shaky and trembly. So I stopped that pronto. I still crave it like mad though, am drinking cloudy lemonade which is quinine free and nothing like as nice.

dizzydixies · 10/06/2008 20:16

oh noooooooooooooooooooooooo

someone on another thread has just told me to drink some bitter lemon or tonic water at night to help horrible leg cramps

and apparently its the quinine that helps

AARRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:18

i had some shandies with DD1. not many, though, but i just fancied a shandy when we were on holiday in ireland for some reason.

then i had a pina colada right before she was born.

EBenes · 10/06/2008 20:20

Oh don't worry, dizzydixies! I drank about 10 litres of it (literally) before I found this out. Our babies are already going through the cold turkey without noticing. Plus I doubt you drank a litre a day, like I was doing.

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:22

problem i'd have with either bitter lemon or tonic water is that i have yet to find it here without that minging asparatame or artificial sweetners.

nervousal · 10/06/2008 20:22

Craving Irn Bru was first sign of preg for my last two pregs. Sadly both ended in MC - after returning to work my boss asked (very sympathetically I might add) "I take it you're off the Irn Bru then?"

dizzydixies · 10/06/2008 20:26

I was only told today Ebenes have gone out and bought tonic especially - and btw had to rush past the multi packs of irn bru in the tesco aisle

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:27

i only crave the Irn Bru if it's in a can.

i don't want it in a bottle.

dizzydixies · 10/06/2008 20:29

tastes better from a can, its somehow just right!

actually someone left an empty irn bru can on our front wall the other night

which one of you was it?!?!?

AitchTwoCiao · 10/06/2008 20:33

yup, expat, i don't want any ginger out a bottle, got to be a can. although beer, otoh, is infinitely better bottled.

sweetkitty · 10/06/2008 20:33

oh no out a glass ginger bottle is the best (and you get 20p back)

AitchTwoCiao · 10/06/2008 20:33

heh heh dd, it was a message from Barrs, they want you back.

My2Weegirls · 10/06/2008 20:34

yep - agree it tastes best out of a can

i remember taking bags full of empty glass bottles (with metal tops) back to the shop to get my 10p refund.

AitchTwoCiao · 10/06/2008 20:34

ach yes, what am i saying. it's the plastic to which i object, not the glass.

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:34

oh, i had a bottle of Arran ale the other day and it was soooo tasty! there were cans there, in the chiller cabinet, but instantly, the taste of can came to my mouth.

boak.

EBenes · 10/06/2008 20:35

Oh good, dd! Do look it up online, I'm sure a glass at night for your cramps is totally okay, it was quantities over a litre a day.

My2Weegirls · 10/06/2008 20:36

someone told me the arran brewery's gone out of business! so drink up (but not too much in your condition) while you still can.

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:39

oh, no, really?!

i don't know what drew me to it. i just had to have a bottle of it, ice cold. sitting across from loch fyne.

loch fyne has a brewery. perhaps when next i crave a bottle of beer or ale i will try theirs.

i also find myself needing lucozade, too. but only orange. the original stuff is minging.

dizzydixies · 10/06/2008 20:46

I was a lucozade original fan during early pregnancies all 4 times and still have an occassional need

aitch they know me, am soooooo susceptible to advertising

My2Weegirls · 10/06/2008 20:47

eeeeeyuck - lucozade reminds me of the glucose tolerance tests and being ill when wee.

i've got a thing for vimto just now

there's a fantastic brewery on the isle of seil...

My2Weegirls · 10/06/2008 20:49

"oyster brewery"

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 20:52

black isle brewery also has some yummies.

DH drinks maybe two times a year, but when he does, he likes a black isle beer or ale.

he doesn't know i've got him some for Father's Day.
