What was the first thing you ate after delivery? What was something you wished you packed (food) for after?

With my first I had cream crackers (no butter and also dont even like them) and cheese i didn't even like.(this was the only thing the midwives could find)
Wish I had absolutely anything else.

Second I had some homemade gingerbread, wish I had something more substantial so hoping for some inspiration from you ladies that I can make and will last for a spontaneous birth!

Beef hula hoops which I really don’t like and a can of Dr Pepper! Had a really long labour with DS so by the time he arrived at 2:30ish am I was starving. DP got it from the vending machine while I had a quick shower. Breakfast when it arrived on the ward was a bowl of Rice Krispies, I feel cheated that that I didn’t get any toast

Toast, butter and jam!

DH went out to get a takeaway from Leon (hospital in central London). I'd had borderline HG for my pregnancy and hadn't had a proper meal for weeks, I was starving and so relieved not to feel sick anymore. So I had a rice box with meatballs, coleslaw, chips and a massive chocolate brownie. Best meal of my life.

Steak, spinach and chips. It was heavenly.

DS I had the tea and toast at about 6am and it really was fab. Shitshow of a birth. Great toast.

DD I had an lovely calm elective section and was on the ward by mid afternoon. All excited for my toast after being nil by mouth and I was given a lunch bag with the driest chicken sandwich ever! Devastated!
I made DH go to M & S and get all the snacks.

Tea and toast but both times the tea was absolutely shite 😂 I had a Maccies breakfast en route home from the hospital with my first and dominos with my second!

First was at home, so my first meal was scones, jam and cream I'd made the day before. It was heaven!
Second was in hospital, I sent my DH out to get me a McDonalds! I rarely eat fast food but I was starving and toast was not going to cut it. I'd heard the hype but all I wanted was a burger, fries and a milkshake!

Nothing for 4 days, was very ill in high dependency for 48 hours, then dumped in a single post natal ward& missed of the meal ordering for another day after which I discharged myself & went home. My mum cooked me bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes & fried bread when I got home, it didn't touch the sides, I wolfed the lot plus half a loaf in about 5 minutes.

My 12 year old was in hospital earlier this week and the nurses brought me toast in the morning. It was weird but nice as he was in nicu when he was born so I had my post birth toast sat on my own. It took over 12 years but I finally got to sit with him and eat hospital toast!
