i am back to work tom after ds1. am off again on mat leave in about 4 months for baba 2 due end oct.

know that all day tom i am going to get the "was it planned?" question as obviously there will only be about 14 months between them.

dont want to get into the whole "yes it was planned as we wanted 2nd baby but didnt expect it so soon esp as with a 6 month old we only had sex about once a month thing" for obvious reasons!

so help mw with witty responses please!!

i just told people i had an insatiable sexual appetite

CarGirl · 27/05/2008 14:34

Yes it was, how's your sex life then/husbands sperm/your sperm?

mybrainaches · 27/05/2008 14:35

Was it planned?

Yes, we have the original paperwork to prove it?

They will at least shut up while they wonder what the hell you mean.

scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 14:35

oh and i did it for the child benefit was another i said

Iklboo · 27/05/2008 14:35

Say "No - and it's the last bloody time we're having turkey! I knew it wasn't turkey fat in the baster"

freakypenguin · 27/05/2008 14:36

why not ask them if they were planned?!

i think it's an intrusive question and people should mind their own!

GreenElizabeth · 27/05/2008 14:36

Say "I'm sorry, I thought you actually asked me outright if my baby was planned"

You have to look suitably and as though their impertinence startles and offends your sensibilities.

roobis · 27/05/2008 14:36

"not at all, i told him not to hold my hand, but would he listen? would he feck"

CarGirl · 27/05/2008 14:36

Are you always so rude?

GreenElizabeth · 27/05/2008 14:38

Mybrainaches! good answer. You could say you applied to the council and got planning permission for triplets.

BeauLocks · 27/05/2008 14:38

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

MummyAnnabella · 27/05/2008 15:49

ha ha will def use the child benefit and paperwork ones. also the i thought you actually asked one.

i will also get the "bet you want a girl" one as we had boy last time. what do i say to that??

ash6605 · 27/05/2008 15:52

Just say, 'No actually I thought he was up my arse' That'll soon shut them up.

Inquisitive · 27/05/2008 15:52

I'm told one of the best responses to these kind of questions is to look startled and say "goodness, that was really rude, you must be SO embarrassed!".

I've never quite had the nerve to say it though...

scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 15:53

i said i would quite like it to have 2 arms 2 legs and a head

Fennel · 27/05/2008 15:53

I don't actually see why it's such a rude question. I never mind people asking me things like that.

I don't ask pregnant women but only because I know lots of people find it rude, but it's just an interesting and relevant question.

minorityrules · 27/05/2008 15:56

Say this one was but the first wasn't!

JessJess3908 · 27/05/2008 16:01

I think it's easier to answer if you're married or have been settled for a while.

DP and I hadn't been together all that long before DC1 was concieved. If i said no it wasn't then i was worried people might think she wasn't wanted/loved/prayed for for years which is another matter entirely.

Also - saying yes she was but we only really talked about it in the heat of teh moment and we didn't think it would happen so quickly seemed to be letting people into our personal life a bit too much.

I have been guilty of asking this in the past tho..

ash - I like your answer best!

Saymyname · 27/05/2008 16:06

JessJess, I agree with you in theory.

However, DH got this question off FIL after we had been married 6 months and co-habiting home-owners for 3 years.

I was

sakurarose39 · 27/05/2008 16:10

"Was WHAT planned?"

(look down...)

"OH MY GAAAAAD!!"

sweetkitty · 27/05/2008 16:11

Yes do you want to see my monthly cycle it's includes my most fertile times and when it is best to have sex?

tearinghairout · 27/05/2008 16:16

Why can't people mind their own business? why do they want to hear it from you, one way or the other? I had twins, & every day got into convos that started with 'Did you know you were having twins?' continuing with me:'Well, my father is a twin,' them "Do you think you'll have any more?" through to telling complete strangers whether or not we were planning more, and when.

Sorry, rant over. You will, as you say, be asked & you're right to be prepared.

I think 'I'm sexually insatiable so it was bound to happen' would shut them up but I wouldn't have the front for that!

tearinghairout · 27/05/2008 16:20

RE: 'Bet you want a girl' - 'Oh it would be funny having a girl, I'm used to boys'.

OrmIrian · 27/05/2008 16:21

No. We just f* like rabbits.

4andnotout · 27/05/2008 16:25

I was told the other day that i must love sex as im pregnant with dc4 (and dd3 is only 8 months!) i just replied that yes its great fun isn't it and he was so shocked that i answered back!
