i am back to work tom after ds1. am off again on mat leave in about 4 months for baba 2 due end oct.

know that all day tom i am going to get the "was it planned?" question as obviously there will only be about 14 months between them.

dont want to get into the whole "yes it was planned as we wanted 2nd baby but didnt expect it so soon esp as with a 6 month old we only had sex about once a month thing" for obvious reasons!

so help mw with witty responses please!!

Just say, 'No actually I thought he was up my arse' That'll soon shut them up.
brilliant response

Last time I answered with:
d'you really want to hear the details of how the unprotected sex happened?

windygalestoday · 27/05/2008 16:44

windygalestoday · 27/05/2008 16:45

"I can't remember"

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 16:50

LOLOL ash

Upwind · 27/05/2008 17:01

"No - turns out it is a myth that you can't get pregnant standing up"

DarthVader · 27/05/2008 17:30

Say you can't be ar$ed with work so you thought it would be sensible to go off on mat leave again asap

minster · 27/05/2008 20:10

'That's an extremely personal question' accompanied by a stern stare and then change the subject.

Honestly some people have no manners at all

whomovedmychocolate · 27/05/2008 20:15

"Oh yes, I had to watch it for ages on eBay before bidding"

ivykaty44 · 27/05/2008 20:18

Ohhh yes and I so enjoyed the sex .

ash6605 · 27/05/2008 20:23

"yeah but not sure who the dad is though"

mrschop · 27/05/2008 20:25

I used to say 'no, it was his (DH's) birthday/Christmas/relevant celebration'.

It is a bit impertinent, but I think people want to know how easy it is to fall preg - I found it is usually childless people who ask, as those who've gone through the uncertainty of TTC are a little more sensitive!

MummyAnnabella · 27/05/2008 20:39

am sitting here laughing out loud at these - it has def cheered up my return to work!

not sure i could use the up the arse one to my employers though!! and the wanting another mat leave might be too close to the bone.

may use the was what planned or the no and hysterical crying!

i find anyone and everyone can ask this and to me it is a bit like them asking were we having sex for conception r just for fun. you feel like asking them why and how often they have sex and whether thay use contrception as this is really what they are asking you.

beansontoast · 27/05/2008 20:54

ash....lol...aaaash...lol...imAgine saying that!

ivykaty44 · 27/05/2008 21:02

dont answer - just ask And how many times did you have sex to fet pg, was it the standard 6 or more?

ash6605 · 27/05/2008 21:03

Which one BEANS? the 'up the arse' one or the 'not sure who the dad is?' or theres always- well he normally withdraws and gives me a 'pearl necklace' but got a bit too carried away this time!

BarcodeZebra · 27/05/2008 21:08

"Why? Do you want to buy it?"

Nighbynight · 27/05/2008 21:48

these answers are brilliant!

Twiglett · 27/05/2008 21:52

remember always that the people who ask whether it was planned really really DON'T CARE .. they're just looking for a way to show interest in you out of politeness

ivykaty44 · 27/05/2008 21:56

Or it is because they are dreaming of actually having sex - picture that when they ask, the fact they are living in a desert of no sex no sex no sex and then keep a straight face as you give one of the above answers.............

jessikart · 27/05/2008 23:08

Or that people who ask are just big mean bastards who are simply dying for you to confess to being either a) selfish or b) irresponsible. Or both! I've always weaselled out of it with 'Not exactly planned, not exactly an accident', but the next person to ask me will get one of the responses posted here
It's SUCH a personal question though - would you ever dream of asking someone 'Still not pregnant yet? Is it his fault or yours?'
