Found a stretch mark… so upset

I want to start by saying I really hope that this doesn’t offend anybody. I know that I am being stupid and how lucky I am to be pregnant but I feel so depressed about this and am desperate for advice or reassurance if possible.

I’m almost 29 weeks pregnant with my first baby. Last night I was putting my creams on and noticed what looks like the beginning of a few stretch marks under my bump on each side. I know it might sound ridiculous but I am absolutely devastated about this, I have been carrying quite small and still don’t look huge for 29 weeks but I just feel so disheartened and am worried that now that they’ve started appearing on bump that they will get worse and turn up everywhere.

It’s weird as I have a few on my thighs and my hips which haven’t bothered me at all, so I don’t know why I feel so different about this. I don’t know what I’m going to gain from this thread but just wanted to share my feelings, it’s been at the back of my mind all day and making me feel so low.

Has anyone ever felt the same?

My friend was thrilled she managed to get to the end of her pregnancy without any stretch marks. Then she put a mirror under her bump and saw she was covered in them!

Although I slathered myself in Clarins oil daily and managed not to get any stretch marks, I don’t actually think rubbing in creams and oils makes any difference. All 3 of my sisters got really bad ones. It’s just luck, imo.

Very few women get through pregnancy unscathed by some lasting impact on their body. You really do have to accept it.

I didn’t get any stretch marks at all. My friend had bright red claw like marks all over her stomach by the end of her pregnancy and they are still pale pink some 20 years later.

However, she didn’t get varicose veins which I did. And her bladder isn’t completely compromised like mine. Both of us ended up with much bigger boobs after breast feeding though!!!

It is fairly unpredictable but inevitable that your body will be compromised somehow. I absolutely promise you that once your baby is here, you won’t give a shit.

My stretch marks are now small silver lines now. My son had a massive growth spurt at 15 and has them on his back and legs. I do remember feeling low about them but my son doesn't really care he's just glad he's now 5inches taller.
