Just that really. DH and I are TTC our first and we are surrounded by people who got pregnant first time trying. It's making me feel really stressed, as if there's something wrong with me.

DH has had a sperm check (because of a family issue) and everything came back great, which just makes me feel like it's me.

Can I hear your stories of how long it took you to get pregnant each time you help manage my expectations please? Thank you!

DD - 3 months
DS - 2 months xx

SareBear87 · 16/02/2025 19:49

I have endometriosis so possibly might not be the norm!
DC1 - 12 cycles spread over 2 years (I also had early mc during this time)
DC2 - first "shall we just throw caution to the wind" try, genuinely couldn't believe it. We were prepared for another 2 or so years and tonnes of heartbreak!

Bournetilly · 16/02/2025 19:50

3 months with DC1 and 9 months with DC2

sel2223 · 16/02/2025 19:53

DD1 - second cycle after stopping contraception

DD2 - 4 years!

TheLurpackYears · 16/02/2025 19:59

1st dc, first month straight after Mirena removal age 35
2nd dc, 12 months age 38, but only having sex once or twice a month and exh was by then supposedly infertile after cancer treatment.
Basically I've been incredibly lucky in that aspect of my life.

InMyMNEra · 16/02/2025 20:01

6 months, 11 months, first month

PiastriThePastry · 16/02/2025 20:13

DC1 18 months
DC2 2.5 years

Thanks everyone, so far such varied answers.

I'm 30 and we're going into our fourth month TTC. I've been spending so much on all sorts of supplements but this month stripping back to just folic acid and CoQ10.

I was on the implant for 3 years, came off it and my period cycle returned after 2 months. Had regular cycles until 5th month which was late. Then on the 6th month, well it never came 😂😂

Interesting! This sounds like a reasonable amount of time, not immediately but not years either. Some people do just fall in the middle it seems

17 months, then an accident, then first try.

ceruleansky · 17/02/2025 11:01

4 months.. After 3 clomid cycles and 1 Letrozole cycle..

Gettingabigger · 17/02/2025 11:04

DS1 - 4 months and suffered a miscarriage the month before
DD2 - 6 months and we ended up getting pregnant when using the ovulation sticks that month. The way we did it was have sex as normal and as often as we wanted until when I was in high fertility (sounds counter productive but bear with me!) so stopped having sex when I showed high fertility which usually lasts 2/4 days and then had sex when I showed peak fertility, worked a charm.

dmb91 · 17/02/2025 11:19

DC1 13months
DC2 12months

SnowSnow · 17/02/2025 11:22

7.3 years for our little miracle

mangobe · 17/02/2025 11:24

DC1 - unplanned
DC2 - conceived third cycle trying

I am also 30. If you're only on the 4th cycle then there's still plenty of time for it to happen☺️

CLibs · 17/02/2025 11:27

We're in the same boat and feeling the same way so can't offer any advice but can say I'm right there with you.
No protection since sept, actually started ttc in January.
Doing ovulation test strips this cycle thats stressing me out and no one to talk to because no one I know actually had to try 🙈

GloriousBlue · 17/02/2025 11:31

A lot of people who say "first month" or "wasn't trying" have been having unprotected sex for many months, but just weren't tracking.

So, in my head, that's not really the 1st month IYSWIM

Anyway, for me it was 4th month, 5th month, 16th month. All in my early 30s

Four months is no time at all. Perfectly normal, healthy, fertile young people can take a year to conceive. At your age, you have about a 20% chance each month.

The doctor won't do anything at your age until you've been trying a year and there's a reason for that - because it's normal.

I know it's frustrating (truly - I've been through it all - 5 years of fertility treatment) but nature is what it is, and it takes its time.

If you are really worried you could get a private fertility check but honestly, at 4 months, you've barely even given it a chance yet!

If you've got no other health concerns or reasons to think something might be wrong, just give it more time.

We were using condoms until the cycle I concieved so it really was first try for us. Might be true for others though!

For me that’s not true.

came off the pill and had two weird periods in two weeks no idea about tracking and m fell pregnant a week later. Zero clue when I ovulated.

I tracked my other two times I conceived so I knew my fertile window but we weren’t having unprotected sex before those times
