I need to vent! I feel like I'm supposed to just be grateful for being pregnant (especially as it took a while) and I am, but it also SUCKS! So I want to create a place where we can just have a good moan without feeling guilty! Tell me what you hate about being pregnant! I'm 13 weeks and I hate:

  • the CONSTANT nausea with almost no respite
  • SO many headaches and migraines
  • pregnancy rage - I work in a hospital and am normally known for being quite patient and kind but right now I just want to tell all my patients (and a few colleagues) to ** off!
  • acne - I thought I was meant to be glowing!! Absolute lies!
  • fatigue and looking like crap - as above

What do you hate about pregnancy? Share your rage!🤣

It’s so fucking boring! Can’t have a drink, your nice clothes don’t fit anymore, you’re just waiting for this one event to happen which takes bloody ages.

RainingCatsandFoxes · 23/01/2025 21:51

The heartburn. Omg that was awful. I used to carry a massive bottle of gaviscon in my handbag and swig from it!

Nellyelephanty · 23/01/2025 21:55

1st trimester - dog tired, skin looked shit, I was basically grey faced. Oily skin on chest and back that made tons of spots which I picked and now scars. Terrible sleeping

2nd trimester - short tempered, teary some days, not great sleep. Anxiety as baby isn’t moving as much as previous babies did. Still a shit appetite so not eating lots of vegetables so feel guilty about that all the time

I used to swig gaviscon too 😂

CoffeeCueen · 23/01/2025 22:04

For me, the worst thing was not knowing if the baby was going to develop “normally”. I was anxious the whole pregnancy about chromosome abnormalities, or deformities.

The second worst thing was dh deciding there was “a child in the room” and refusing any intimacy after I reached 16 weeks. And I felt so bad about wanting sex, like I must be some awful pervert! 😂

Icanttakethisanymore · 23/01/2025 22:06

The general co-opting of your body for someone else’s benefit. The loss autonomy. The public nature of the experience.

BodeAkuna · 23/01/2025 22:09

I've never felt worse in my life than in pregnancy. It's the most horrible overwhelming experience- when people say they found out at 20 weeks or 30 etc I think these people must be built differently to me

24CRZZNKKA · 23/01/2025 22:11

I'm only 22 weeks and already feel like my bump is crushing me when I sit/lie certain ways (3rd DC so already pretty large bump)

sel2223 · 23/01/2025 22:20
  • definitely the sickness and nausea. It's worst in the first trimester but even now at 31 weeks, I'm still getting it on a weekly basis
  • heartburn, it's having my life and gaviscon isn't touching it
  • the headaches are awful
  • insomnia and just not being able to get comfortable at night. I spend hours tossing and turning, my bump hurts, my back hurts, I've got restless leg syndrome. I'm also waking up at 4-5 am every morning without fail
  • mouth ulcers. Didn't have these in my first pregnancy but really suffering in my second
Allswellthatendswelll · 23/01/2025 22:28

Nausea
Not being able to drink
Heartburn
Anxiety (the main one really)

Umbilicalbored · 23/01/2025 22:29

Oh I feel seen!!

32 weeks, baby 3.
Endless vomiting until week 20 - again.
Nausea has lingered this time.
Feel (am) fat - I really struggle with this.
Living in leggings and a massive jumper.
Would quite like to just hide away…
Seem to be developing sciatica/back pain, which is annoying, as I usually manage to stay active and walk about 15km a day.

Obviously I’m very lucky to be pregnant when I want to be. But this is definitely the last time.

JG24 · 23/01/2025 22:30

I hated being pregnant, I managed to count 40 awful side effects/symptoms
Not sure if I remember them all now as I think my mind has blocked them out!
The worse one was the itching, I wanted to tear my skin off

Strokethefurrywall · 23/01/2025 22:35

Bone crushing exhaustion
Constant vomiting
Food aversions
Piles
Discharge
Not being able to sleep on stomach

And I had easy "glowy" pregnancies.

MyPinkFish · 23/01/2025 22:38

Tiredness and God awful headaches omg torture! I'm 16 weeks x

Blue2020 · 23/01/2025 22:53

-the first trimester
-not being able to sleep on my back (I’m a back sleeper usually).
-the tiredness (even on iron tablets)
-heartburn (rennies help a bit)
-worrying if it will all go ok
-wondering if I have felt enough movements in the day, each day

This is a new one due to having a toddler this time but it’s my biggest annoyance:
-catching all the colds/bugs/coughs that DS brings home from nursery. It’s relentless. I’m 27 weeks and I’m fairly sure I have been unwell for most of it. I just got over a very bad cough and cold 10 days ago, and he started coughing with a runny nose again yesterday and I feel like I’m coming down with whatever it is.

Dairymilkisminging · 23/01/2025 22:54

Either crying or angry the whole time. Skin an hair has gone to shit. Heartburn not being able to lie on my back. Lack of proper hot baths. No smoked salmon(my favourite) People commenting how big I am (trust me I know!)

That was therapeutic thank you

BrotherViolence · 23/01/2025 23:03

I hate putting on weight and getting so exhausted when I try to exercise. Just generally not feeling in control of my fitness. I know some weight gain is healthy in pregnancy but I put on so much fat on my thighs and stomach and it takes forever to lose. I was still breastfeeding my first when pregnant with my second and my body had seemed to cling on to the extra pregnancy fat during that process anyway, so I really didn't need to gain even more.

I hate people knowing about the pregnancy and treating me differently, like I'm made of glass. Just generally all the attention on my body and personal health business feels horribly intrusive to me even when people are being nice and considerate. It still just feels like I'm an incubator first and a person second.

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss · 23/01/2025 23:04

Gestational diabetes (since 10 weeks)
Always being uncomfortable (3rd trimester now)
Bump hurting
Needing to pee every 10 mins
Bring woken up every half hour in the night with being kicked. Such an active baby Im genuinely terrified they are going to be a handful
Difficult birthing choices and anxiety after horrific first birth

Groundhogday2025 · 23/01/2025 23:12

The realisation there is no easy way for this human to escape your body.

And pelvic girdle pain.

sunshineandshowers40 · 23/01/2025 23:16

The heartburn
Being so tired
The constant worrying/anxiety

Ladamesansmerci · 23/01/2025 23:20

I had a baby 7 months ago.

For me it was:
-how long it takes. Like OMG. Literally the slowest months of my entire life.
-nausea
-insomnia
-the effect on my mood. I was very hormonal, especially in the first trimester. I was in hysterics every other day at work, and it was a huge trigger for my OCD
-not being able to stomach sleep later on

CadoAvo · 23/01/2025 23:21

Currently almost 17 weeks with my first.

The extreme exhaustion.
Feeling like, and looking like, death.
Anxiety.
My face going purple with burst blood vessels after vomiting.
Everyone else being excited and I'm like yeah whatever.

Grateful to be here after 2 miscarriages but I'm still a million miles away from the finish line and already can't wait for it to be over.

LuckyMoonstone · 23/01/2025 22:01

I used to swig gaviscon too 😂

Me too. I remember being 6 months pregnant and going to carols round the tree in our village on Xmas Eve. Half the people there had hip flasks with whisky or brandy and I had aniseed Gaviscon.

I also had hyperemesis and then developed polyhydramios. I measured term at 30 weeks and my baby floated around like she was in a lava lamp! Never engaged, just as well she was very cute!

BigCheese24 · 23/01/2025 23:26

That it results in a life long commitment haha

kiana2015 · 23/01/2025 23:28

Needing to pee literally every 5 minutes, nausea, throwing up on my way to work EVERY morning, heartburn, pelvic girdle pain!! I must be mad to be considering doing it all again
