I need to vent! I feel like I'm supposed to just be grateful for being pregnant (especially as it took a while) and I am, but it also SUCKS! So I want to create a place where we can just have a good moan without feeling guilty! Tell me what you hate about being pregnant! I'm 13 weeks and I hate:

  • the CONSTANT nausea with almost no respite
  • SO many headaches and migraines
  • pregnancy rage - I work in a hospital and am normally known for being quite patient and kind but right now I just want to tell all my patients (and a few colleagues) to ** off!
  • acne - I thought I was meant to be glowing!! Absolute lies!
  • fatigue and looking like crap - as above

What do you hate about pregnancy? Share your rage!🤣

HG - if one more person mentioned ginger biscuits I wasn't going to be responsible for my actions.
Piles
Thrush
Breathlessness
Nose bleeds and congestion
Tiredness but also insomnia
Rage
Tummy button popping out...
Generally not enjoying being pregnant and every one telling me it's magical 😂

Thank you everyone for sharing your negativity and bad vibes I love it! 😂 Oh I'm also going to add:

  • feeling guilty for eating sh*te (all I want are fast carbs and crisps) when I should be feeding my baby kale and steamed salmon with flax seed or whatever the hell
  • not bring able to enjoy food, which is normally one of my favourite things
  • often feeling too rubbish to exercise, when having an exercise routine is normally something I rely on for my mental health
  • feeling very weird about the birth, I have no idea how to mentally prepare myself so instead I just block it out completely which can't be healthy

Omg people suggesting ginger is so annoying! Do you REALLY think after 13 weeks of nausea I didn't do a cursory google and try the first thing that comes up?? Also I used to absolutely love ginger, but now I will forever associate it with feeling sick, another thing pregnancy has ruined🤣

Adding nosebleeds, i'd forgotten about those (currently sat with tissue up my nostril)

And having the lung capacity of a 90 year old smoker!

I didn't even know nosebleeds were a symptom what the hell!!

Me neither! 1 in 6 pregnant women get them apparently.....lucky me 😅

fatigue

boredom - I am so inpatient; I feel like I'm just wishing the months away.

I have not really missed booze, though I have a couple of weddings and hen do's this year, and I anticipate feeling a bit left out being surrounded by drunk people.

I miss smoked salmon and parma ham, these were staples in my diet.

But ultimately, I'm grateful as I needed ivf to get here - but I imagine we are in the same boat, we can be simultaneously happy and fed up 😂

13 weeks with number 2 and the acid reflux is killing me. It's constant and triggered by almost every food. I then eat to try and settle it and it's a vicious circle. I'm then putting on so much weight as a result. I had awful nausea with my first and this is so much worse.

Oli16 · 24/01/2025 17:49

Gagging every time I open the fridge!
Crying into my bowl of noodles one evening (first trimester, what a ride)
Looking 6 months pregnant at 10 weeks (SO bloated!)
Looking pale and shattered all the time
Zero interest in doing anything

We have to go through the wringer!

Haha, what a brilliant thread 😂

ALL 👏 OF 👏 IT 👏

• Feeling like I've been bashed in the fanjo by Thor's hammer (PGP/SPD)
• Waddling like a tw*t
• The chronic constipation
• The reflux, which seems to go hand in hand with craving ALL the things that make the reflux worse
• The 24/7 exhaustion
• Piing myself if I sneeze or vomit
• Getting out of breath putting my f
king socks on
• Not being able to "maintain the lawn" because I can't see it anymore 🙄
• Not being able to bend down whilst simultaneously experiencing a strong urge to clean the living heck out of everything, especially the floors
• I can't clip my toenails and I'm pretty sure I'm mere days away from sounding like a dog pacing about on hard flooring

I could go on, but I've exhausted myself just writing the above 😂

Sending solidarity to you all 💖

Everyone having an opinion. I have had comments about what I am eating for lunch not being healthy enough or 'full of chemicals'. As someone who has suffered from sickness through all of previous pregnancy and still having daily sickness now (at 19 weeks) the fact I'm eating anything is a victory.

FeedMeBrunch · 24/01/2025 18:05

The heartburn problem was solved with off the shelf omeprazole - would highly recommend!

  • the piles
  • the waiting for appointments that are never on time (spent three hours in a waiting room for an antenatal appointment!)
  • having to pee every 10 minutes, combined with the effort it took to get up
  • having to hold a full bladder, to do a sample once I got to my appointments
  • being uncomfortable 24/7
  • the lack of energy- even walking into the shop from my car felt impossible at some points of the third trimester
  • the itching!!!!!
  • the constant fear over baby’s movements - worse due to an anterior placenta

I absolutely hated most of it, one of the main reasons we are one and done!

FeedMeBrunch · 24/01/2025 18:07

@Readysetgooo have you tried omeprazole? One tablet a day was a miracle cure for me!

Readysetgooo · 24/01/2025 18:35

@FeedMeBrunch I've not yet. Until recently, I've had it alongside morning sickness and nausea so it was difficult to tell what the problem was. I've kind of just been persevering but I do think I need something. My son was prescribed Omeprazole as a baby and it was awful for him which has been putting me off but think I need to get over that because this is awful. I've already been to the doctor for anti-sickness medication - they'll probably be like oh here she comes again 🤦🏼‍♀️

mumgodloveher · 24/01/2025 18:51

Pelvic Girdle Pain. Crutches and a wheelchair in my pregnancies and, 15 years on, my back is still totally screwed. I wouldn't be without my kids but they destroyed my back forever.

Ah I see! It’s definitely worth trying, You don’t need to see the GP for it - you can get it off the shelf everywhere

greentree16 · 24/01/2025 22:52

The smells!! Everything smells like chicken, and the smell of my husband cooking actual chicken 🤢🤢 Onions, garlic, just everything smells awful except toast and salt and vinegar crisps 😭
