Loveyourlife24 · 08/01/2025 21:55

Ok guys hear me out.
got two beautiful babies with my husband
youngest is almost 1.. husband has a vasectomy 2 months ago as we agreed no more.
we had one blip outside of the time frame in terms of vasectomy (they say wait 6 months) on Xmas day night!
is this an evap line or am I pregnant??? I’ve heard of so many evap lines on clear blues!
im going mad here.

I got pregnant while breastfeeding about this age. That's not really relevant though! Send DH out now for some more tests and pee into a pot FMU to try them. Though I'd not be able to resist doing another now!

Alittlebitwary · 08/01/2025 22:56

Just seen it's out of the test time window. That does change things. Could be an evap then as they do darken when left ages.

TheyCantBurnUsAll · 08/01/2025 22:56

That looks positive to me.

Breastfeeding is not a reliable contraceptive. I got pregnant when exclusively bf a 2 month old baby. You are actually most fertile after having a baby they are supposed to tell you this before you leave the hospital. I also took the morning after pill not that it worked but you can take it when breastfeeding your pharmacist is shit

Why is it unlikely?
Sperm will still be in the semen for at least a 2-3 months after a vasectomy
Breastfeeding a nearly 1 year old isn't guaranteed to have a contraceptive effect.

True! Just the combination of the vasectomy, a one off slip and the breastfeeding all combined I suppose! But these things definitely do happen!

Loveyourlife24 · 08/01/2025 22:59

They told me I would have to stop breastfeeding for 48 hours and I had zero pumped milk. Like I said the fact I wasn’t ovulating too (according to app).. I honestly thought it would be ok.
personally I could never ever make a difficult decision (I am not judging those who do) to terminate.. so it’s not the end of the world to me.. we had just decided no more.
my head is everywhere. I have done another test non branded please see picture - it is clearly negative but this was not an early one and no idea when period is due because they are all over the place with BF. All I can tell you is it’s 14DPO.

Thanks for all the comments so far!
look as for the negative comments.. and without delving into the details of my sex life and how it happened, let’s just say I thought we were protected that night.
I am not looking for upset here, yes maybe I’ve been silly to think it would be ok after one time (this is also because I tried for years and years with nothing happening and 3 miscarriages in between) - you don’t know everyone’s individual circumstances so please be kind.
i have done another cheap test tonight which isn’t clear blue and it’s got no line!
I also would say that this line on the clear blue has got much darker after a few hours (outside of the test window)
for the person who asked would it be the end of the world - for me no. For my husband - yes.

"I am not looking for upset here, yes maybe I’ve been silly to think it would be ok after one time"

You said you thought you were protected. Plus you didn't do this on your own if you are 'silly' i would argue your husband is sillier.

"for the person who asked would it be the end of the world - for me no. For my husband - yes"

So basically this is your husband's own fault if you are pregnant. Yes having a baby should be discussed and planned ideally but he essentially consented when he had sex with you unprotected. That's on him not in you. You would be ok having another baby so did nothing irresponsible. It's only irresponsible if you knew you were unprotected and didn't want a baby

TunipTheVegimal24 · 08/01/2025 23:08

If I didn't know the backstory, there would be no doubt in my mind that it was a bfp. If you conceived despite everything you've said, maybe it was just meant to be 😶

Fwiw, there's a bloke at my work, who is the result of a failed vasectomy.

You can drink alcohol when breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not a contraceptive. You can take the morning after pill when breastfeeding. Definitely need to get your information from evidence based reliable sources. Can’t understand why you’re saying the “blip” was his fault because he was drunk when you were actually the sober one in the situation, not that it matters. It does look like a positive line to me. What a mad situation, why bother with the vasectomy when you’re not going to follow the instructions for afterwards!

Edited

It’s useful to have at least one sober parent in charge of handling the baby though.

Theboymolefoxandhorse · 08/01/2025 23:27

It appears second test is negative - if still no period in a week I would probably retest as you’re unsure of when you should be ovulating and that would be 3 weeks exactly after sex.

I would consider speaking to the pharmacy manager : as other PP have explained BF does not preclude the morning after pill - no need to stop BF for 48 hours, and BF can only be counted on as as contraception if 1) exclusively breastfeeding (no bottles or dummies) 2) child is less than 6 months and 3) your periods haven’t restarted. I’m sorry and worried that you were given such incorrect advice.

Babyno2due · 09/01/2025 02:35

I'm confused how many people saying they think it's positive!! It's well known that clear blue are notorious for evaps and it's pretty clear that is an evap line as it's so thin. If it was positive the line would be as thick as the control line.

Candy24 · 09/01/2025 02:40

Id retest as that looks positive. Lol oh dear hubby

Exactly! It’s so obviously an evap line. Almost certainly an evap line when OP said it was a few hours after she took the test.

ILoveAnnaQuay · 09/01/2025 02:58

OP, if your periods are "all over the place" then you can't really know when you're ovulating.

Beeches24 · 09/01/2025 03:04

There's dye run in the window of the first test which throws me off and makes me think indent.

buckingmad · 09/01/2025 04:14

Please report the pharmacist. That is such incorrect advice. My baby is 12 months and I exclusively breastfed. My period came back at 7 months and I’ve been regular since (I still breastfeed a few times in the day and a lot over night). I’d also retest. There’s a chance the cheap test isn’t as sensitive as the clear blue hence showing a negative.

Edizzler25 · 09/01/2025 05:00

I did a clear blue that looked similar (pic attached) exactly one year ago and baby is now 4 months old. Looks positive to me.

it took longer to get a positive on an Asda cheapie which is what your second test looks like.

Sorry attached wrong pic..

catcurl · 09/01/2025 05:14

So sorry you're going through this stress OP.

I would save tomorrow's first morning urine and do a pink dye First Response Early detection on it.

Hope things work out okay either way.

HollyKnight · 09/01/2025 05:16

Gosh he's an idiot. Imagine going to all the trouble of having a vasectomy to prevent having any more children and then doing that. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am concerned about the "advice" your pharmacist is giving out though.

DeepRoseFish · 09/01/2025 05:45

I think it looks positive too

CreamGreenPalePink · 09/01/2025 05:46

Had to look up what evap line was. Evaporation, if the test has dried out.

nodramaplz · 09/01/2025 05:58

I think they are positive x

OTannenbaumOTannenbaum · 09/01/2025 06:57

It's hard to say for sure, but I'd be inclined to say it's an evap as the line is so thin.
But to put your mind at rest, I'd pick up a frer op, or at least a pink line early detection.

Loveyourlife24 · 09/01/2025 07:03

Did another test this morning as I had two clear blue in the packet and looked in the timeframe…
