Hope everyone is doing well!

Ive been for my 28 week apt today (28+5) with the midwife so had my first bump measurement which is apparently normal and showing as just above the 50th centile….then she weighs me and says if my BMI is above 35 I have to have growth scans as the tape measurement may not be accurate 🤦‍♀️ so I’ve just checked badge notes and now have tons more appointments - one scan being on Christmas Eve! Then a couple of telephone appointments?
Has anyone else in the same boat due to BMI, I mean I know I’ve put weight on Im carrying a baby but certainly don’t feel “big”

UrbanSquirrel · 02/12/2024 16:12

Don't worry too much, @Pepsix - on the bright side you get to see lots more of your baby! ☺️ My BMI was 34 when I started out, so I dread to think what it is now. No one has actually bothered to weigh me since my booking in appointment! But I have a lot of new stuff in the diary due to GD. It's a bit annoying suddenly having all the extra appointments, but I've tried to look at it as a good thing, having lots more chances to keep an eye on things and make sure everything is progressing as planned.

It's irritating about Christmas Eve though. Unlike you, @elb1504 and @retrievermum, I seem to have lucked out with the way things have fallen - appointments on 19th and 27th, and then a growth scan on the 30th. At least the one on the 27th is a phone appointment - I'll have to see if I can manage to take the call in the middle of doing some sales shopping 😜 x

@Pepsix @UrbanSquirrel no one has weighed me either since my booking apt which I am quite surprised about! I assumed (and had heard horror stories about weight comments on Reddit) that they would weigh at every appt to keep track of it.

Pepsix · 02/12/2024 18:40

@UrbanSquirrel I just think it’s crazy they go by BMI when in reality everyone carries weight differently….never mind like you say the plus side is I get to see baby boy more 😆 I have the midwife on 23rd then the scan on 24th so busy couple of days then numerous telephone appts have appeared and I’ve just checked again and they’ve booked me a scan on my due date 😅

@superj21 I thought that too as I said from the beginning I didn’t want to know my weight after losing 3 stone before I fell pregnant it would mess with my head so surprised it’s took this long for them to weigh me

Redapple21 · 02/12/2024 20:43

Good point about midwife appointments over Christmas, I also see mine on a Wednesday and my 34 week appointment would fall on Christmas Day. Even if she pushed it back a week, that's New Years Day! So I will see what she says this Wednesday at my 31 week appointment.
My toddler brought home a very unpleasant stomach bug from nursery at the end of last week which he has passed on to his dad and then also me. So far his dad has had it worse than me and I've escaped with stomach aches and feeling nauseous. Really hoping I feel better tomorrow though as still not very nice. I was even wondering whether to call the GP tomorrow to see if there's anything I should be doing, but as I don't actually have vomiting or diarrhoea I assume there isn't much they can suggest other than letting it pass.

QuantumPanic · 02/12/2024 21:42

My 34 week appointment is going to be a 33 week appointment. 🤷 And then it'll be the 37 week one after that. 😲 Starting to get a little bit excited!!

UncharteredWaters · 02/12/2024 23:19

Here the weight is at booking and then again at 28 weeks - apparently in between it’s too variable between women to rely on.

herewegoagain123456 · 03/12/2024 06:27

@Redapple21 yea unfortunately I think they wouldn't do anything, I've had 3 sickness bugs and a bad case of food poisoning in this pregnancy and the only time they did anything was when I couldn't keep water down for more than 24 hours 🙄

Can anyone else believe how far along we are all now?

I have a growth scan today, a random one though as not measuring big or anything. I think it's because of the bugs I have caught they want to check everything is okay. Keeping my fingers crossed

Redapple21 · 03/12/2024 07:12

@herewegoagain123456 ah yes I think you're right. I have been to the toilet a few times through the night and my stomach does feel a bit better for it. Will rest today and hope it passes soon. Good luck for your growth scan. Will be nice to see baby again.

It dawned on me this morning that I'll most likely be having my baby NEXT month, 48 days or less even!!

My EDD is 3rd Feb but don't see how I'll get all the way due to high BP😕

But wow, time is flyyyying!!

When do I start washing everything?

I had food poisoning in my second pregnancy (really regretted that KFC 🤢) and struggled to keep fluids down at about 35 weeks. Diarrhoea and vomiting, it was genuinely horrific. I phoned triage and they didn’t want me to come in, advised I stop trying to drink water (I was worried about dehydration and the baby) and rest my stomach for a few hours. Eventually it passed and I didn’t need to go in. I don’t think they’d do anything beyond treating dehydration IF you were that unwell

Redapple21 · 03/12/2024 10:17

@OnePinkSloth I've also literally just had this thought, my EDD is 5th but I'm asking for a c section this time and I just thought .... wow this could actually be NEXT MONTH. Crazy!

Redapple21 · 03/12/2024 10:17

@OrangeSlices998 ah that sounds awful! Thank you I'm just resting today and hopefully it will pass. Xx

retrievermum · 03/12/2024 12:12

I hadn’t considered that the baby could be born next month! My EDD is the 1st and it’s my second baby so statistics are not on my side for a February birthday! Although my own calculations put me at 5th/6th Feb so we’ll see!

In terms of washing, last time I did clothes that were going in the hospital bag at about 32/33 weeks, then other small sizes at 34/35ish, and then set up the car seat and next2me at about 36/37, and washed all of the bedding and blankets etc then!

This time I’m nowhere near as organised, 32 weeks is creeping up and I’ve bought baby one pack of sleepsuits which are in a drawer in the still undecorated nursery!

Any other second time parents starting to panic a little bit?!

I feel so under prepared this time! With christmas coming there's so much other stuff going on that baby stuff is taking a back seat! I'm 32 weeks now and feel like I haven't sorted much, in reality I have done some but nothing like how prepared I was first time! All will be fine, I have stuff already it just needs sorting!

My second was later than my first! Basically babies keep you guessing and you never know. First was 40+3, second was 41w!

retrievermum · 03/12/2024 12:44

@OrangeSlices998 hopefully, I’ve got a LOT of family birthdays in January and none in February so it would be nice to mix it up a bit haha!

@elb1504 my husband is WFH today so I’ve made the executive decision that he can wiggle his mouse and play with DD while I crack on with organising the nursery, Christmas is throwing me off definitely (especially as DD is only 18 months so although its not her first Christmas, it kind of feels like it is and I want to actually enjoy it with her before the carnage of the new baby!).

UrbanSquirrel · 03/12/2024 13:17

@Redapple21 So sorry to hear you're feeling so ill! Hope things have calmed down a little bit now. I have to admit that the toddler virus merry-go-round is something that I'm really
NOT looking forward to 😂 Sending healing vibes and hugs in the meantime.

Re. the washing, as I've said before, I've been buying a lot on Vinted (ahem) so I've washed everything as it comes into the house. The hospital bag stuff is mostly packed, just waiting for a few more bits. We're in pretty good shape here, but only because a) work has been thankfully very quiet the last month or so, and b) after a major work project earlier in the year, I now feel at a loose end and have been redirecting my 'I need a project' vibes to the baby. I am on first name terms with the Evri courier now.

And yes, oh gosh, that whole 'next month' thing. 😱 We definitely will be January, as due date is 3 Feb and we're going for a planned section - I guess it's just a case of figuring out how early that will be, taking the GD into account. My 'problem' is that my 40th birthday is in my 39th week, so I've been making subtle enquiries about whether it might be possible to a) avoid having the section on that exact day, and b) cheekily schedule the section at the start of that week, just so I have an outside chance of a glass of champagne and a slice of offensively gooey birthday cake (which obviously isn't possible right now with the GD). Midwife looked askance at me, and made a note, but I might have to lay on the charm with the consultant when I see him 😂

My firstborn shares a birthday with his dad. 🥰 It's true that daddy's birthday is subsumed by the kid, but it's really sweet that they can celebrate them together. And in the days after there was no end of jokes about kiddo being the best birthday present ever, though now that dad has got to know him he feels a bit differently now. 😅

I would have both regardless and forget to do your blood sugars 😉

@OrangeSlices998 Dear God, yes, if I do end up still being pregnant on the day, all monitoring will be off! 😂 On which note, have found so far that a Freddo eaten mid-afternoon has no adverse effects on my readings, but still not feeling brave enough to try an entire Wispa...

Had my scan yesterday all measuring good, just under the 50% line, have another scan in 4 weeks so fingers crossed there's not a sudden change.

Has everyone had there RSV?
I have mine next week, very busy at work so hopefully it doesn't make me ill 🫣

Can't believe how close we are, yet feel like it's still so far!

Yes I have my RSV tomorrow! And having my whooping cough today (belatedly), apparently I might feel a bit crappy but I'd rather just know they were both done!

Is everyone else having another growth scan around Christmas? The last locum midwife I saw said she thought me having another one was because I have a (controlled) thyroid problem and they normally wouldn't do anymore

Also can't believe how fast it's suddenly going!
