Thanks for the laugh.

@AlexaSetATimer
Ok, so if it is and she wants a girl... isn't that ok? It's ok to have a preference or a wish, it's ok to be disappointed. I'm sure she loves her boys and will love another child no matter what but I was just complaining about the lack of empathy.
Especially things like "people have had big losses you should be grateful to have xyz". That's just so invalidating and unkind.

DinaofCloud9 · 24/09/2024 09:14

This is very similar to the thread the other day where the op was convinced she's having twins yet the scan showed one baby.

SirChenjins · 24/09/2024 09:20

Perhaps the way to look at it is to think sex = boy but gender = girl. That way you’ll be right?

Surely the child will choose their own gender, in time?

I agree. Genders don’t get picked up via scans or less evidence-based tests, but if the OP prefers to think along gender-woo lines then she should crack on.

Peonies12 · 24/09/2024 10:12

No test or scan can predict how your child will express their gender identity. You have a healthy baby developing - the sex is irrelevant.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 24/09/2024 10:12

If all of these Chinese predictions did actually work. There would be no gender disappointment. It's all a load of hogwash!!

Chasingbaby2 · 24/09/2024 10:59

Ffs why does some one always bring up gender vs sex on these threads.
Yes the language around this should, and will, eventually catch up with modern thinking but it's totally irrelevant to a fetus.
Someone always has to try to prove how progressive and clever they are.
The point of the post gets lost and here we are. It's a boy OP. He may or may not decide to express himself differently later in his life.

Really?😫this whole "gender" thing is ridiculous

I do get it as a concept. But for a baby not born yet it feels like an unnecessary comment made just to be argumentative.
Every thread has a similar comment. It's so stupid. I hate mumsnet.

I completely agree, be who you want to be when you are of an appropriate age to decide this.
Why it’s relevant to an unborn child is beyond me, for me it seems it’s the parents that want to make their child decide at a young age it’s frightening

But it’s not stupid - gender ideology has caused so many problems and gender stereotypes are so reductive. Sex and gender are 2 completely different things - that’s not being argumentative, that’s fact.

Chasingbaby2 · 24/09/2024 12:56

Not for an unborn child. Do be serious. This is exactly what I mean. Theres always one.

SirChenjins · 24/09/2024 13:25

An unborn child has a sex not a gender. It’s a good thing there are people who understand basic science and don’t resort to woo woo gender tests for something that doesn’t exist.

sel2223 · 24/09/2024 14:10

OP, come on!!

I know you're probably hormonal and maybe a little disappointed it's not a girl (which is OK by the way) but Chinese predictors, ring tests and urine tests over an actual ultrasound where trained eyes are looking at a moving image not just a blurry still photo?

Come on!!

Do you have no common sense.
Obviously the OP is talking about sex, not gender in the modern interpretation.
Don't be a dick about it trying to prove your superiority.
Generally people DO understand what sex and gender are, no need to harp on about it.

Janey3090 · 24/09/2024 15:10

That's 100% a boy OP, it looks nothing like my girls scan.

Were you hoping for a girl by any chance?

Pointing out that sex and gender are different is not being superior. Don’t be a dick in turn.

You literally said that you understand basic science and that others do not.
The very definition of being superior.
Thanks for the laughs though. Think I'm done here 😂

SirChenjins · 24/09/2024 16:22

Bye then 😂

SallyWD · 24/09/2024 16:25

Argh! Why do these threads always descend into a debate over sex vs gender?? That's clearly not what the OP is asking about.

SirChenjins · 24/09/2024 16:29

She’s asking if unreliable tests will confirm the gender. No they will not - for several reasons.
