So confused, am I pregnant or not?

Me and my partner are trying to conceive, we had sex in my fertile window. And was saddened to get my period a week early, my period was light and went on for 10 days which for me is not normal. I’ve today taken a pregnancy’s test as I wasn’t feeling right, and it’s a strong positive. My question is, am I pregnant? Or experiencing a miscarriage, I have had no more bleeding for about 3 days. So I’m really now confused .

It could be that you had a miscarriage. Pregnancy hormones stay in your system for a while after so you continue to get positives.
How long ago did you finish your period?

Foraging4sweet · 20/08/2024 20:51

Sorry - just seen three days. I would leave it for a week and retest. Sorry - it's horrible waiting

Ladyhill09 · 20/08/2024 21:32

Thank you, I’ll give it some time and retest x

I’d leave it another week and take a test. Hope for a good outcome.

LolaJ87 · 20/08/2024 21:36

It sounds like implantation bleeding to me, I would think you’re pregnant.

Ladyhill09 · 20/08/2024 21:38

This is why I’m really confused, it wasn’t like a period, it was light and sorry for tmi but not filling a pad, but I’ve read implantation bleeding only lasts a few days. It’s why I’m so confused. It looks like I’m going to have to wait it out and hope for the best. Thanks for your advice all

I reckon it could be implantation - my mum had bleeding throughout her pregnancies but a lot lighter she didn't find out she was pregnant till really late it's not completely uncommon.
Hoping for a positive outcome for you xx

Ladyhill09 · 20/08/2024 22:11

Thank you so much I’m hoping so xx

I would expect the bleeding to be heavier if it was a chemical pregnancy.

Bramblecrumb · 20/08/2024 22:34

That sounds exactly like what I had and I'm now four months pregnant. Tbh it's my first time and I wasn't tracking so had no clue that I hadn't just had a weird period (I'd recently got my coil out and found my periods were a lot lighter as a result). Fingers crossed for you 💗

Ladyhill09 · 20/08/2024 23:19

im really keeping everything crossed, thanks so much everyone, you’re really giving me a bit of extra faith.

Similar happened to me a few years ago and It turned out I was pregnant. Got everything crossed for you OP x

Could you ask for a beta hcg blood test to see if you have enough hcg in your blood for positive pregnancy result? Maybe call your gp or epu and see

Ladyhill09 · 21/08/2024 19:11

I was going to give it a week or two and then call the doctors if i still test positive, the lines are still quite strong, and considering it was over two weeks ago I started to bleed. I’d of thought the lines would start to fade a little, this is why I’m so confused. I think I’m going have to just hang in there and wait, as awful as it is, thank you all for your kind words and advice.

This! Only way you’ll know if it’s a progressing pregnancy.

Lilac90 · 22/08/2024 10:25

Personally I would contact the doctors/EPU to get checked out now.

I got a strong pregnancy test earlier this year after a "period" and it was a pregnancy of unknown location, which did self resolve as a miscarriage but needed close monitoring through my hcg levels to make sure it wasn't a continuing ectopic.

Hopefully this isn't the case for you and it could just be normal bleeding in early pregnancy, but I'd definitely get checked out for peace of mind as if it were ectopic you don't want to leave it unmonitored.

Ladyhill09 · 22/08/2024 21:09

Thank you, I’ll make an appointment then rather than waiting, to be honest it’s some thing that completely crossed my mind.

that must of been awful for you. Sorry to hear this happened.

Thank you and I don't want to worry you, hopefully it is completely different for you and good news but better to get checked out to be on the safe side.

They aren't going to that unless concerned it's ectopic, its expensive and no medical indication to do so when can just repeat a urine test in a week

Goodluck
