Hey .. first timer being pregnant here.
I felt so sick and slight sore boobs food aversions all sorts week 5-8 8w1 and 8w2 probably being the worst I felt. 8w3 everything disappeared completely apart from tiredness and constipation. Naturally I worried and booked a private scan for next day. Baby was fine with strong heartbeat. See the placenta forming too! I'm 9weeks today and my only symptoms is a headache gassy and tired and I just feel so paranoid because all I see is people being so sick in 1st trimester so I feel like as I'm not something will go wrong..? Sorry anxious to the max!!

Has anyone had barely any symptoms and still everything's fine? Thinking of booking another scan for when I'm 9w4 just to check again..in my head I'm like but what if I am going to miscarry and it didn't happen yet at the scan and it has a few days after and it's a missed miscarriage?

@Ellsx6 Yes!!!! So happy for you 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Seaglassandchampagne · 29/07/2024 17:08

I had almost no symptoms first trimester of my first pregnancy, all was fine. Book a scan if it will put your mind at ease but it’s likely just a normal progression through the first trimester.

Thankyou ladies for all of the support and being there to chat and offer advice/experiences it's helping loads! Got a really sore throat for a few hours now don't know if that's a symptom or I'm getting sick..we just went out and bought a couple of things so feeling really happy and positive! I know people say don't buy until 12 weeks but we'll be heartbroken either way if we've spent £30 on some baby grows or not😅and definitely trying to spread the cost since we're having to move house and upgrade car for this baby haha! Hope you are all feeling okay!💕💕💕

@Ellsx6 Awwwwww look! So cute 🧡
im good thanks, I’ve had my niece here for the weekend so been busy with the children. I had some slight nausea the past couple of days which I was really happy to have 😂 but it’s eased off today. Scan tomorrow morning, really trying to feel positive about it. 🧡

It's good to keep busy! The placenta has now taken over and yolk sac gone so feeling happy that the placenta has taken over and obviously doing its job to keep baby going as that was something I was worried about. I have a scan booked on Thursday that I booked ages ago. Don't know whether to cancel it and lose my £30 deposit or to just go😬

@Ellsx6 Would you be able to get a video with the private one on Thursday? Might be nice to get that? Yeah it’s great when the placenta takes over, most of the pregnancy symptoms go at that point too I think 🧡 will you find out what you’re having? X

Yes they do videos and print outs at that clinic. The one I've been going to don't do a print out they just send the pictures via email which is annoying as it's nice to have them. We will get a private gender scan at 16 weeks! We go on holiday with all of our family shortly after so we'd like to find out alone then do a reveal in Spain whilst we're all together..my partners not had a girl in his side for over 80 years so assuming boy but who knows we may break the cycle🤩

figgyandpig · 05/08/2024 15:41

@Ellsx6 Oh my god 80 years! Well only queens have boys (that’s what my mum told me haha) and they are amazing. My son is the best and him and my husband really spoil me some days. We didn’t find out with my son so probably won’t with this one. There’s a mixture on my husbands side so it’s anyone’s guess.
reveal in Spain sounds so nice! And so fun for your family too 🥰

Ellsx6 · 06/08/2024 19:43

@figgyandpig we're feeling so impatient as my parents side of the family are all adamant it's a girl when we think boy haha we're happy either way weve had so much anxiety we just don't care as long as it's healthy 😅xx

@Ellsx6 we had our 6 week scan yesterday. We saw the heart beating and measuring 6w+4 which is perfect. I had some nausea yesterday and was actually sick. So grateful to have reached this stage. Next wait is for the 12 week scan! Just over 5 weeks 😮‍💨

@figgyandpig yesss amazing news!!! Congratulations on bean with a heartbeat!! 💕💕💕I may go to the scan tomorrow well I haven't decided still. I can't get one after this until my 12+4 nhs scan which is around 2w2d away as I'm so busy at work i just don't have the time where I could fit one in (self employed life) x

OP posts:
figgyandpig · 07/08/2024 08:58

@Ellsx6 Yeah why not, you have it booked in & will be so nice to see the baby again 🥰 I’m self employed too, it’s so helpful if you want to have flexibility.
A lot of my clients know Im doing ivf and so have been asking what’s happening 😬but I don’t want to say too much incase the worse happens. What can I say to hold back the questions until the 12 week scan? Most people don’t know what happens in ivf so was thinking of just saying, “oh I’m still on the fertility drugs, will find out what the plan is next month?” Dunno 🤷🏽‍♀️
I need to call my dr and book in to see the midwife today 🥰 I actually looked at maternity clothes yesterday too 🥲

Ellsx6 · 07/08/2024 10:48

@figgyandpig in all honesty I don't have a clue what happens in ivf (you'd think I would considering its taken us 4 years and my partner has low sperm count!!) just something I've never really looked into. So I'd just say your in limbo stage atm waiting for next step..that's what I'd do. I've told most of my clients because in a way I don't mind telling people individually I just don't want to do an official announcement as I feel like if something goes wrong it would feel like I have to pubically say it didn't work out? We are just going to go it'll be nice to see baby🥰especially when there growing so fast and look different every time! I also looked at maternity clothes yesterday because everything's starting to get tight already 🥲gutted as I don't do well with weight gain mentally (severe binge eater, yoyo dieter who finally lost all her weight 2 years ago) so it's bittersweet that I'm finally getting to experience things I've wanted for so long but also scared for my body changing ;(

OP posts:
figgyandpig · 10/08/2024 11:23

@Ellsx6 How was your scan? Hope everything went well ❤️ it’s hard watching your body change during pregnancy. I’m quite short at 5ft 1inch so I looked like a big round ball when I was pregnant with my son 😮‍💨 I’m hoping to not pile on the pounds this time round. I put on 3st 😭 but I was working at a desk all day and eating a lot of pastries ha! I’m more active now and am eating better.

i did a genetic blood test (one you do at home and post) and it basically tells you where your risks are within your genetics to the pregnancy and what supplements and food you should eat to reduce pregnancy risks. It’s called grow baby I’ll send the link. It’s £160 but worth it I think. My functional medicine doctor got me to do it, she’s called Caitlen at Cura Body. Here’s a picture of my summary of recommendations based on my genetics and possible weaknesses that could affect maternal and fetal health. Thought you might want to have a read and consider xx

Ellsx6 · 10/08/2024 12:05

@figgyandpig I've gained a stone in the first 11 weeks of pregnancy I am worried🤣😅 I think it's because I still don't like proper meals or meat/veg atm so been living of toast cereal and fries! Going to try and exercise more though. I work at a desk so doesn't help to stay active either..the scan went perfect!! Had the NT on back of the neck measured she said all looks good so 90% chance baby doesn't have downs all of that which has me rest assured! We got amazing pictures and baby was waving away and kicking legs. Wish you could attach a video here! She said I'd be awfully unlucky for something to go wrong now. Baby also measuring a day ahead but I'm not worried it's probably just positioning. I'll look into that!! I'm classed as high risk so had 2 blood tests to check on levels of things in my body to check what I may need extra off and got prescribed a few things. And I have another blood test to check levels again in 2 weeks so do you think it would still be worth it? Also I was going to do NIPT private but midwife said not to bother as my age and family history ect she thinks I'd be fine and nhs will send me for one anyway shall I need xx

@Ellsx6 amazing 😍😍😍 so nice to have the reassurance. I’m not sure what a nipt is? Everything looks so positive for you, you’re going to have such a lovely pregnancy 🥰
the tests are good for seeing your genetics and possible risks to your health and baby’s health and how you can help improve those risks. My friend did one during her pregnancy as she had pre eclampsia with her first and found it really helpful. I think there’s no harm in doing but but obviously that’s up to you ❤️
I’m quite nauseous atm and finding it hard to do much. Moving makes it worse. I’m not off food but when I eat I can’t eat much because then I feel sick. I really want ice cold fizzy drinks 😬 but the fizz causes heartburn in the evenings, it’s a viscous circle 😭 I’m not complaining though, grateful to feel something! 7w+1 33 weeks to go!

Ellsx6 · 10/08/2024 12:49

@figgyandpig I'm only just under a month in front of you! We're 11weeks tomorrow it's actually going quick now I'm not so worried! Nipt is a non invasive prenatal testing it's around £500 where I am and it's not offered on nhs unless your basic blood test gives you any indication that somethings wrong. It's to detect any abnormalities with the baby from 10 weeks you can have it done. For the past 2 days I've had awful nausea headaches hot sweats constipation the whole lot. We're home viewing today as well need a bigger house for his baba and I'm suffering🤣🤣how are you feeling? It's weird how feeling crap can make you feel better isn't it! When's your next scan now? Are you waiting until your 12 week one? Xx

figgyandpig · 11/08/2024 19:36

@Ellsx6 it’s so good we can have those kinds of tests these days. We did ivf so we know the embryo should be good through the testing. But you never know, things could still go wrong.

i want a scan at 9 weeks but my husband is against it. Our sonographer at our clinic advised against it because she thinks it’s not good to keep using the ultra sound waves in early pregnancy unless it’s urgent or there’s cramps/bleeding. This pissed me off to be honest because I really wanted one and now my husband is dead against it and wants to wait until 12 weeks. Apart of me thought, I’ll just go do it without him knowing, but then I thought, what if I go & there’s bad news I’ll have to own up to going without telling him and be in there experiencing it alone. Mmm it’s a catch 22 really. My husband almost never “puts his foot down” and has supported everything I’ve wanted to do throughout this pregnancy & ivf but he’s proper on one with this and has done loads of reading about it which just solidifies how he feels about scans. 😤 I’ve kind of surrendered to the fact that I’ll ah e to wait 5 weeks for a scan but I know it’ll be hard!

I’ve been nauseous again today but I e started nibbling more and got some acupressure point bands and it’s really helped. Bit tiered & actually napped this afternoon, which I never do. Xx

Ellsx6 · 11/08/2024 19:53

@figgyandpig even though we're on my thread about no symptoms, unfortunately it's come back with full force. I was crying this morning because I felt SO unwell🤣 I'm surprised they advised against really because of the effect it could have early on.. my midwife and nhs sonographer I see at EPU said there's absolutely no risk at all iof ultrasounds and some women with severely complicated pregnancy's have one every few days and the baby's completely fine. Well I've had them 4-7 days apart from past 5 weeks and the baby's still fine! My partners the opposite and wants the scans more than i do. We're trying to leave it now until my 12 week nhs it's at 12+4 so in 11 days. I don't know how we're going to get through it tbh. I've been so emotional the last few days and my mental health is the lowest it's been with everything new to come I'm really anxious and worried..no going back now haha!! Also just worried after the first 11 weeks already done if anything goes wrong now I'm nearly 3 months in I'm just going to be more heartbroke than ever. So so hard. Hopefully if your husband sees your suffering with anxiety he will come round to the fact of a 9 week scan..I hope for your sake anyway xx

Hey we have a private scan tomorrow 😬 feeling very nervous for it. I’ve been quite sick this week & couldn’t keep much down. Hoping it’s a good sign although I’ve read lots on here that people are sick even if they’ve miscarried. Such a head fuck 😭

Ellsx6 · 22/08/2024 22:53

@figgyandpig I'm sure you'll be fine! It seems to me that symptoms aren't a good measure of anything. I've had barely any and If I do they only last a day. Had our dating scan today and all was fine. All I kept seeing was the more symptoms the better and more likely hood you haven't had a mmc so it's been really scary. Even my midwife said more symptoms the better I was like great!! I hope it goes well for you💕

Had my scan measured 9 weeks which is perfect and heart beating 180. So relieved. We’ve booked another private scan for 11 weeks. I’ve felt less sick today which was freaking me out but the baby’s fine. Symptoms really aren’t a good way of measuring anything. I’ve been really tired today though which is a new one. Hope you’re good hunny xx
